00:00Some groups have called for an increase of P150 for the workers.
00:07Now, the group of employers is getting anxious.
00:10Here is my first report.
00:15Increase of P150 for the workers.
00:17One week before the 3rd State of the Nation Address of President Bombo Marcos,
00:22some militant groups have called for an increase of P150 for the workers.
00:27It is not enough to approve P35 for the Minimum Wage of the Regional Wage Board.
00:33This is an insult.
00:34What do you think of us?
00:35Are you going to dismiss us?
00:36Are you going to make us look bad in front of the public?
00:38Backbone of the economy, increase of GDP, increase of productivity.
00:43At the moment, some legislated wage increase bills are still in the chamber.
00:49All of them are still pending in the committee level.
00:51In the Senate, one is already approved in the 3rd reading.
00:55According to the Employers Confederation of the Philippines, President Sergio Ortiz Luis Jr.,
01:00only 10% of the labor force will benefit from the legislated wage increase.
01:04That is why it is harder for the workers to pay an increase of P150.
01:10The companies, especially the small ones, if the price goes up,
01:14if the price cannot go up, the number of workers will decrease.
01:18If those two cannot afford it, they will go bankrupt.
01:21That is the result.
01:22The Collegial Decision of the 7-Man Wage Board
01:25approved P35 for the wage increase of the workers.
01:28It has a clear basis.
01:30We have to balance the capacity to pay of the employers
01:35and we have taken into consideration the industries that are still affected by the pandemic.
01:45It will always be a delicate balancing.
01:48But at the end of the day, we like to look at job preservation.
01:52The National Wage Coalition approved their appeal to the National Wage and Productivity Commission last week
01:58for an increase of P150 in the wages of the workers.
02:02This week, the National Wage Board was appointed to comment on this appeal
02:07that they need to submit within 10 days.
