00:00They keep it like a treasure, hidden behind harvesters.
00:04This car was used to transport ammunition when the Ukrainian army counter-attacked in
00:08the Kharkiv region in September 2022.
00:14This car has liberated the Kharkiv region.
00:17One of our employees was driving it as a soldier.
00:20He is still fighting near Donetsk, I can't say where.
00:24It's legendary now.
00:26This car helped to kick the Russians out of Ukraine.
00:32Oleksandr Koshcheev is the director of Universal Agro, a farming business in the village of
00:37Lybyazhe, around one and a half hours' drive south of Kharkiv.
00:42Corn is one of their main crops.
00:44It's Ukraine's green gold, making up a quarter of its agricultural exports.
00:50With Russia occupying its industrial heartland in the east, farming has become more and more
00:54important for Ukraine's economy.
00:57But some of these tractors are not working in the fields, because there aren't enough
01:01drivers.
01:03The farm owner is Serhii Fedorik.
01:05He employs around 30 workers now, a dozen less than before the war.
01:09Some were mobilized, a few went abroad as refugees.
01:12A new mobilization law aims to help tackle the shortage.
01:18We are now officially part of the critical infrastructure, so we can keep 50 percent
01:23of our workers from being mobilized.
01:25It doesn't solve all our problems, but our most valued workers are staying here.
01:33He means people like Igor.
01:34Most of the men still here are like him, in their 40s and 50s.
01:38The younger ones are fighting.
01:43Many went to fight, maybe half of all men.
01:47Tractor and truck drivers.
01:49We used to have seven trucks here.
01:51Now we have three.
01:53We gave the rest to the Ukrainian army, but we also need something for ourselves to transport
01:58the harvest.
01:59We do our best, we'll manage.
02:05The farmers here are worried about the current low prices for grain and other products.
02:09The war has driven up costs for transportation and insurance.
02:14Last summer, one of the trucks transporting grain was hit by a Russian missile near Odessa.
02:18The driver survived.
02:20Crimean director Alexander says there is still a fear the Russian army could get closer.
02:27Of course I'm concerned, but I'm sure that we won't give up our territories.
02:31If needed, we will all go and fight.
02:37Our land must be ours.
02:40What really concerns me is that our men shouldn't be falling.
02:44I hope they will all survive.
02:49Both Alexander's sons are fighting against the Russian invasion.
02:52For now, he is waiting for them to join him on the farm again.
