JP is Looking Forward to the First Day of Pads at Commanders Training Camp

Bring on the pads! JP and Mitch Tischler discuss the things they are most looking forward to as Commanders training camp approaches.

00:00The day I'm most looking forward to, first day with pads. So you know the first four are going

00:06to be off. I think it's possible that Sunday, July 28th, which is the first day with fans there,

00:13that they're calling back together weekend, might also be the first day with pads and that will be

00:19fun. That'll be a lot of fun. And honestly, that as Roost, if he knows first day of pads,

00:25he's standing right there. Go ahead Mitch, sorry. To me, for me, that's going to be the most fun

00:33day because the secondary offensive storyline is going to be, to me, Brandon Coleman and whether

00:39how he's going to look in this offense, whether he's going to be ready to step in

00:43and start a left tackle. And once we throw pads on the big guys and they start doing those one-on-one

00:48drills and combo blocking drills and, you know, true word of life 11-on-11 drills,

00:54that's when you're going to get a feel for who Brandon Coleman is and if kind of the athletic,

00:59physical traits that we see in shorts and a t-shirt translates over to power and strength

01:05and balance and stability and an ability to step in and be a day one starting left tackle in the

01:11NFL. Well, and dude, for me, I want to see Jaden once the pads are on. I want to see when there's

01:17real pass rush. You and I talk about one thing you see a lot in OTAs and stuff are fake plays

01:24where because the quarterback can't get hit, they keep running around trying to make a play down

01:28field and it's fun for people to get to watch it but it's not at all reflective of what happens

01:34on a football field. I want to start seeing some stuff that is reflective of what happens on a

01:39football field. Yeah, absolutely. And listen, I mean, to that extent, there were so many issues

01:45with offensive line play last year. You know, this is a great, at least as far as the interior

01:51of the D-line goes, it's a great interior of the D-line just to test, you know, all the new bodies

01:55there, Nick Allegretti, Tyler Bjotish and company and see how they're gonna hold up. But yeah,

02:01ultimately, all of it, everything else that happens is a big secondary storyline to what

02:08Jaden does and how he looks.
