00:00The company's court ruled that a private college paid a fine of almost RM1.4 million to 17 students who were dismissed unfairly.
00:11The judge, Nurfawza Mokhtar, said he was not satisfied that there was a violation of the student's right to leave the college to teach their suspension,
00:21and was not sure that the student's choice was in accordance with the general principle of suspension.
00:27The court ruled that WIDAT Education was responsible for controlling the WIDAT University College,
00:31and the WIDAT College did not provide sufficient evidence to prove it took the appropriate steps to avoid suspension.
00:40Nurfawza said the judge found that the suspension was not done with good intentions,
00:46when the company insisted on their service on the grounds of employee suspension.
00:51Nurfawza said there was no other cost reduction steps taken besides dismissing the judge to reduce the cost of operations and college tuition.
00:59The company also did not offer any alternatives for them to be dismissed.
01:04The suspended judge has served about four years with the college, receiving an income of between RM2,100 and RM3,950 per person.
01:14They were suspended on June 30, 2021 after a three-month notice.
