00:00Hi guys and welcome to Drivespark, I'm Prameet and today what we are driving is the MG Comet EV.
00:12You must have seen this car all around. So this car has come to us for a long-term review and
00:19today I'll be introducing the car to you, just telling you what all do you get with this car
00:23and later on please follow our channel so that you can get to know all the updates that we post
00:29and everything related to this car and other cars and bikes as well. First of all, the Comet is a
00:36micro car, that means it's like a tiny small car just like the Tata Nano, but unlike the Nano,
00:43this has got two doors, massive doors as you can see, massive massive windows. The first thing that
00:48you notice of this is the top-end variant and the top-end variant obviously gets the connected LED
00:53bar at the front and you also get your LED headlamps with high beam and low beam
01:00and you get your MG logo that is also illuminated once you plug it into charge, so the MG logo
01:06illuminates and it's indicating that your car is charging. Apart from that, on the side when
01:11you come you get these 12-inch steel wheels, obviously it's with the aero cap, so looks kind of
01:17cool, looks like an alloy only, does not look like a steel wheel. So you can see from outside you get
01:22the chrome door handles and yeah, it's a big big window that you see, I mean, there's only
01:29two doors, so the door has massive windows and this car is particularly a car that you will take
01:37around in the city, I mean, due to range anxiety obviously, so I'll be talking about all of that.
01:42So moving on to the back, you get the same treatment as the connected LED tail lamp,
01:46apart from that, you get your LED taillights and you get a reverse parking camera with adaptive
01:51guidelines as well. This car is really really practical, let me tell you that and just let me
01:59give you a reference, alright, first of all, people think seeing it from outside that will you be able
02:03to fit in the car, yes, for example, I'll just tell you, for reference, my height is 6'1", as you can
02:09see, I'm sitting very comfortably, I have a ton of knee room, leg room, I have plenty of headroom
02:17available as well. So, as far as sitting practicality is concerned, four people of my height can easily
02:24sit, not with luggage obviously, but four people can sit and travel within the city, no problems
02:29whatsoever. Apart from that, if you move on to the inside, is when you notice that MG has really
02:38done some premium work on the interiors of the Comet EV. Now, first of all, you will see that
02:44you have two touchscreens, that itself looks very premium, a 10.25 and a 10.25 cluster and an
02:51infotainment system. So, apart from this, well, you have your round steering wheel, a small steering
02:58wheel, steering wheel has steering mounted controls, since it's the top-end variant, you do not get an
03:03automatic climate control, you get manual ACs, AC vents, cupholders, the door can hold a one litre
03:08bottle, there's a lot of space on the door, the rear does not have much storage space, but yeah,
03:14I mean, there is some place to keep your phone and two people can sit comfortably, my seat is
03:18completely pulled behind, still, if I sit behind, my legs will just kind of brush the edge of the
03:24seat, the front seat. So, I mean, hence, there is space, does not look from outside, but there is.
03:30Now, let's talk about the specifications a little bit. So, this car is powered by a 17.3 kilowatt
03:36hour battery pack and so you get a 3.3 kilowatt charger with the car, that's the standard charger.
03:43So, apart from that, you also have a 7.2 kilowatt charger. So, the 7.2 kilowatt charger is not a DC
03:51fast charger, it's an AC fast charger, so that will charge your car even quicker. So, the regular
03:56charging time from, I think, 10% to 100% is somewhere between six to seven hours on the
04:01Comet. In fact, you can charge it from zero to 100% in seven hours with the regular standard
04:06charger that you get with the car. I think the wall box, the 7.2 kilowatt charger will take three
04:12to four hours, maybe. So, yeah, there are two charging options that you have. Now, talking about
04:17the drivability, it's really nice, suspension is good, brakes are really, really awesome,
04:22because you have all four discs, yes, trust me, you have all four discs and that is because,
04:26I mean, this car has the regen technology, so it will regen power every time you leave throttle.
04:33And because of that, all four discs are required, so it generates electricity through the
04:37brake heat, so the charge will drop a little slower, like, for example, if you don't use regen,
04:43you will, like, go in 10%, you will go maybe somewhere around 11 to 12 kilometers, but with
04:49regen, you can go up to 15 to 16 kilometers. So, I mean, that's a two, three kilometer of
04:54charge that you get and that's, I mean, that really counts in an EV. So, apart from that, well,
05:00steering is nice, there are drive modes, you have eco, normal and sport, but obviously, the throttle
05:06response changes in your eco mode and apart from that, you have your regular normal mode, that
05:13obviously, you can feel a little bit of increase in the throttle response, but in the sport mode,
05:19I mean, throttle response is really crisp and the car has a top speed of around 110 kilometers an
05:23hour, not recommending to drive you at that speed, because, I mean, if you really are at a high speed,
05:29since this is a slightly tall car and it has a shorter wheelbase, so there might be a chance
05:33that you might flip the car, so yeah, do not try that, drive at regular speeds, 60-70 in the city,
05:41it's easy, you will get a range, not talking about range, so I had, I tested it a couple of times,
05:47so in eco mode, you'll get a range somewhere between 150 to 170 kilometers, depending on,
05:53again, how you drive, then on normal, you'll get a little less and sports, so you will get around
05:58100 or maybe 110, if you just build the car, so yeah guys, this was the MG Comet, our long-term car
06:05and we will be giving you regular updates about this car, I mean, I think I've driven around 500
06:09kilometers within the city, no problem whatsoever, you can charge it with your wall socket and
06:15price and all, I'll discuss later, obviously, you can get into the price and the price actually starts
06:19from 7 lakh rupees to 11 lakh rupees ex-showroom, this is the top of the line variant, but however,
06:25you get some subsidies and discount from the government, so yeah, if you like this video,
06:29please give it a thumbs up, share and subscribe to our social media channels, I'm Pramit signing
06:32out for now, but stay tuned to our Instagram and YouTube channel to get more updates on the MG Comet.
