00:00On the third day of the competition, a press conference was called by the Department of Education and Cebu City Sports Commission

00:07to discuss the current situation of the hosting of Palarong Pambansa 2024.

00:13This is what Daryl Oclares reported.

00:23The Department of Education and Cebu City Sports Commission is once again facing the media.

00:28Five days after the start of Palarong Pambansa 2024 in the province of Cebu,

00:34DepEd Assistant Secretary and Palarong Pambansa Secretary-General Francis Cesar Bringas and CSC Chairman John Pahis attended the press conference.

00:45According to two officials who made a few ocular visits to gaming venues,

00:50the organization of all the sports is in order.

00:54We have visited many of the playing venues and we found out that all our playing venues are in excellent condition.

01:01I went to archery this morning and billiards as well and everything is in order.

01:06Everything is well organized by Cebu City and we hear no complaints from the playing venues.

01:13So I think we're on the right track in terms of our games and we're just so happy to be able to provide very good playing venues for our athletes.

01:26Aside from this, Umanoy Vite also discussed the track oval in Cebu City Sports Center that has been used for a few days for athletics.

01:35According to technical officials, the track oval is only 398 meters long and is 2 meters higher than the 400-meter standard of the World Athletics.

01:47Because of this, it is possible that the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association or PATAFA does not recognize the record of athletics in Palarong Pambansa.

01:58That is why Bringas decided to make the next step to resolve this issue.

02:05We are trying to have the third party that will come in to validate the measurement of the contractor at 398.

02:13PAHES also gave an explanation regarding the 398-meter track and field oval that was built in 1994.

02:22So we're actually quite surprised and it's possible that it's just due to the lining.

02:29So again, I think it's best to wait for the third party results of the consultant.

02:38Deped and CSC are ensuring that the problems facing Palarong Pambansa 2024 will be solved before it officially ends on Tuesday, July 16.
