At his weekly press briefing on Thursday, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) spoke about former President Donald Trump and President Biden.

00:00The inflation report came out today with indicators that, you know, inflation is cooling.
00:06You mentioned Project 2025.
00:08There were some legislative failures on the floor for House Republicans today.
00:12Are you concerned that the conversations that are going on with your members, you know,
00:16speaking to the press about Biden's candidacy, are a distraction from the message that you
00:21could be sending about the economy turning around, about Project 2025, as you led with,
00:26you know, with your remarks with, you know, the legislative branch approach bill fell,
00:31and are you concerned that those opportunities are being lost to this conversation that we're
00:37having about Biden's candidacy as it pertains to House Democrats?
00:41We have to look at the cumulative weight and balance of the discussion that has occurred
00:47throughout the 118th Congress.
00:49The 118th Congress has been a disaster for House Republicans.
00:54It's been characterized by chaos, dysfunction, and extremism.
00:58As evidenced today, House Republicans can't accomplish a single thing without Democratic support.
01:07And by the way, have no interest in doing anything meaningful except for jamming their
01:16extreme right-wing ideology down the throats of the American people in the form of Trump's Project 2025.
01:24That's the reality of what has occurred for the last 18-plus months.
01:30And the American people see it.
01:31They know it.
01:33They felt it.
01:35And they've experienced it.
01:38And we don't track polls day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month.
01:43But one thing has been clear throughout the last 18-plus months, and that's the generic ballot.
01:51Who did the American people trust more as it relates to the House of Representatives?
01:57House Democrats or extreme MAGA Republicans?
02:01The data consistently speaks for itself.
02:08We're going to continue to both thoughtfully engage in the conversations that we've been having
02:14with each other as a separate and co-equal branch of government here in the House of Representatives.
02:22And at the same time, also make clear that we have to articulate a vision for the future
02:35that meets the needs of the American people, building upon the transformational progress
02:42that has been led by President Joe Biden.
02:45Last question.
