00:00William and Boomer by Lindsay Barrett George
00:09For my parents, William lived with his parents by a lake in the woods.
00:15He loved to go fishing with his father.
00:19One spring morning they spotted a fuzzy yellow ball moving in the reeds.
00:24It was a baby goose.
00:26William and his father searched all day for the goose's parents but could not find them.
00:32They brought the baby goose home and named him Boomer.
00:36Boomer followed William everywhere.
00:39Inside, outside.
00:41Even down the steps.
00:44Boomer loved to swim.
00:46Can I learn to swim too?
00:48Asked William.
00:50Not until the water is warmer said his mother.
00:54Some days William and Boomer searched for turtles along the shore.
00:59And other days they spent their afternoons sunbathing on the dock.
01:03When William and his father went fishing.
01:07Boomer followed the canoe.
01:09Now can I learn to swim?
01:11Asked William.
01:13Not until the water's a little warmer.
01:16Said his father.
01:18As spring turned to summer.
01:20Boomer grew.
01:22And so did William.
01:24He learned to paddle a canoe and tied to the dock.
01:28He learned how to unhook a fish and skip stones across the lake.
01:33Is the water warmer now?
01:35William asked.
01:37Yes, said his parents.
01:40William and his father walked down to the lake.
01:44First he learned to hold his breath underwater.
01:48Then he learned to float and kick.
01:51Then stroke with his arms.
01:53And one day he could swim.
01:56William and Boomer swam together every day the whole summer long.
02:00The end.
