01:05Being on the board provides the opportunity to the Philippines to articulate the specific conditions that we are in fact facing.
01:15And those that are being faced by other developing countries as well, especially small island development states, to provide the voice of the most climate vulnerable.
01:26The Philippines is considered a small country, while other developing countries are usually large ocean nations that are surrounded by water,
01:36which is why the potential to be affected by the calamities is greater.
01:40We have a lot to lose by way of sea level rise and its impact on our coastal areas.
01:46We have a lot to lose in terms of our exposure to severe weather, to extreme weather, and other types of climate hazards, specifically to food security, as well as to energy security.
01:57The Loss and Damage Fund Board will raise P700 billion for the so-called Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage, or FRLD.
02:06The Loss and Damage Fund Board will be formed by the governments and will determine how to pay the countries affected by climate change.
02:16Whether it's damage to infrastructure, to property, to agricultural productivity, or the non-economic losses, meaning loss of lives, injuries, loss of cultural heritage, displacement, these are all covered in the fund.
02:32The Philippines is confident that the fund will be released soon and the Filipinos will feel it.
02:39What we are looking at here is community level, direct access, sub-national, local government, and unit level.
02:47As a host, the Philippines will be the first to help the FRLD and will provide facilities for its activities.
02:57For the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the hosting of the Loss and Damage Fund Board is a recognition to the country that the Philippines is the first to address climate change, not only in their own country, but also in other parts of the world.
