Reform deputy leader Richard Tice made this pledge to constituents after winning the seat for Boston and Skegness during the General Election. He's back in the constituency as its new MP and says he's not mucking about.

00:00Richard Tice, MP for Boston and Skagness, how does that sound to you?
00:05Extraordinary, a great honour actually. I'm thrilled to have been elected and
00:10it's also a great responsibility. I'm going to get stuck in immediately to
00:16some of the big issues that I think people have voted for me, whether
00:20it's at the national level on immigration, campaigns to stop illegal
00:24immigration, dramatically we've got to freeze lawful immigration so we'll be
00:29taking on the Labour government on these issues and then on local issues
00:35whether it's the pylons that are planned to blight the countryside appallingly
00:41because of the madness of net zero, whether it's taking on the Environment
00:45Agency, they've got, bear so much responsibility for not dealing with
00:49flooding issues, whether it's Wayne Fleet, whether it's also, still haven't
00:53finished the protection, flood protection at the ports of Boston for
00:59example, despite many people thinking it has, sea level defences, Boston
01:04Distributor Road, all these issues, there's the state of Boston, town centre,
01:08the marketplace, security, policing, healthcare, there's a lot to do.
01:14Now the outgoing MP he did say that his party lost on failed promises, do you
01:20think you'll be able to keep yours? Well I'm certainly going to try and it went
01:24me through lack of hard work and it's right to be ambitious, it's right to set
01:28challenging targets but then be honest where if for whatever reason if you're
01:33not meeting it, be honest about that so yeah I'm going to give it a go and I
01:37think that's actually what constituents want. How committed are you to the
01:42constituency, are you planning to buy a house here? I will definitely get a
01:46property here and I'm fully committed and the testament of that, the proof
01:50of that is that I've already knocked on thousands of doors, people have been so
01:54thrilled and surprised to see actually someone knocking on the doors, they haven't had it
01:58for decades and decades so in a sense the proof's in the pudding and I've
02:01already made a great start. What would you say the most memorable part of your
02:06campaign has been? Being elected to be honest but actually there have been lots of
02:13memorable parts, another one actually was the Bowling Greens that have been there
02:18for a hundred years that East Lindsay District Council wants to remove the
02:22funding on, I attended a meeting for a couple of hundred people, not difficult
02:25to sort that out, put forward some suggestions and I want to make sure that
02:29those are progressed to preserve and improve those. Now you're probably going
02:33going home to get some sleep but what is top of your agenda for when you start as
02:39our MP? All of those issues that I've just been talking about and they affect
02:44different people in different ways, they're all important issues and I've just got to do the best I can and to be a critical friend to the other agencies, whether it's
02:53health care, whether it's policing, whether it's infrastructure, transport,
02:57there's a, Lincolnshire as a whole has been let down I believe by Conservative
03:02MPs who've been complacent and and now there's a big shift. Competition is a good
03:07thing. Thank you Mr. Tice.
