00:00Hey guys, maybe you're here for a Wheels in Japan playlist.
00:03We showed you a car parker of mystery at a shopping centre recently.
00:06This system seems a bit similar but more easy to understand and more easy to actually do
00:12what they want you to do.
00:13So it says here the first 30 minutes is free and then it lays out how much it'll cost you
00:17if you park all day or if you park for an hour or how much for each hour.
00:22So then you go over and you park and it's got an automatic system here that takes your
00:26number plate.
00:27So honesty based car parking systems are quite common in Japan already where you just park
00:33and you go and buy your ticket and put your ticket on your dashboard and it's really relying
00:38on your honesty.
00:39This one is sort of similar although it does take your number plate but we'd wonder how
00:47hard they would pursue if somebody owed them $5 or $3 or something for parking there for
00:53an extra 30 minutes, how hard they'd pursue that.
00:57So it sort of seems that the system is still an honesty based system but it just has that
01:03we've taken your number plate thing to perhaps encourage because most people would pay anyway
01:07probably but just those ones that won't maybe the fact that you've got their number plate
01:12might encourage them to pay too.
01:15Seems like a bit of an expense to have a system like that, must be pretty expensive to install
01:19but anyway that's what they've done.
01:21So you can see the parking spaces are numbered so if you stay more than 30 minutes you come
01:26over here, you put in what parking space you've parked in and then you pay whatever
01:31money is owing and then drive away.
01:34So it seems these sorts of things are becoming more common.
