00:00Olivia Newton-John, the chart-topping singer once named one of the world's most beautiful people, has died at the age of 73.
00:07Born in England, she was raised in Australia and moved to the United States in the 1970s to promote her singing career.
00:13Here's NBC's Sam Rubin with a look back at her life.
00:16She had the voice of an angel and decades of pop hits to prove it.
00:32Her pipes coupled with her extraordinary good looks put Olivia Newton-John in one of the most iconic movies ever.
00:47Fans will remember Olivia as Sandy in the classic motion picture Grease.
00:52But she offered so much more to the world in a career spanning five decades.
00:56And it started well before her role in Grease.
00:59Born in England and raised in Australia, Olivia Newton-John knew she wanted to be a singer from a very early age.
01:05She honed her skills and recorded several well-received songs as a young girl.
01:09But it wasn't until her U.S. debut album, Let Me Be There, that her career really took off.
01:29Things only got better for the fresh-faced singer.
01:31She was cast in 1978 alongside John Travolta in the film that launched her into superstardom.
01:42The film's soundtrack produced hit after hit.
02:07Grease was only the beginning of her career in acting.
02:10With Annadu being another role where she danced alongside Gene Kelly.
02:24But it was her 80s hit single, Physical, that became one of the top-selling songs of all time.
02:39The song topped the charts for 10 consecutive weeks.
02:41It's no wonder Olivia was honored by Queen Elizabeth for her achievement in the arts and tireless humanitarian work.
02:47But Olivia's charmed life had its share of tragedies.
02:50From failed marriages to a cancer diagnosis in the 90s.
02:53After her cancer went into remission, she focused most of her time towards spreading cancer awareness.
03:00Only to have the disease return.
03:02She visited our morning show to talk about her journey.
03:06Keeping a positive outlook is incredibly important because you need to believe that you will be well.
03:10And that encourages your body.
03:12Your mind is your most important organ on this journey.
03:15Olivia continued to perform well into her 60s.
03:18She was a staple in Las Vegas and even reconnected with her Grease co-star for a Christmas album.
03:33With more than 100 million albums sold, four Grammy Awards and countless other honors, fans remember her as the beautiful and compassionate artist that she was.
