00:00I'm Conway Gittins reporting from the New York Stock Exchange.
00:02Here's what we're watching on the street today.
00:04Inflation, earnings, and interest rates drove market action on Thursday.
00:08Consumer inflation dropped month to month for the first time in four years, bolstering
00:13hopes for a Federal Reserve interest rate cut as early as September.
00:17On the earnings front, Delta says there are too many airline seats, which put pressure
00:21on ticket prices last quarter, leading it to a sales miss.
00:25PepsiCo also failed to hit sales forecasts, saying consumers are fed up with price hikes.
00:31Attention now turns to the big banks, reporting on Friday.
00:35In other news, an ammunition company is betting Americans won't mind buying bullets along
00:41with their bread.
00:42American Rounds is setting up vending machines inside supermarkets that carry a wide array
00:47of bullets.
00:48These machines, which are encased in 2,000 pounds of steel, are equipped with other security
00:53measures including artificial intelligence, card scanning, and facial recognition.
00:58Buyers have to be at least 21 years old.
01:01A state-issued ID and a credit card have to be inserted into a card reader to verify identity
01:07and age.
01:09The information is then matched with images taken from a camera mounted on top of the
01:13machine.
01:14If all checks out, the bullets load into an accessible bin like any other product in any
01:19other vending machine.
01:21The company's website says, quote, this robust system ensures that all transactions comply
01:26with federal and local regulations, maintaining the highest standards of responsible sales.
01:32The machines can be found in 10 supermarkets, mainly across the South.
01:37That'll do it for your daily briefing from the New York Stock Exchange.
01:39I'm Conway Gittens with The Street.
