00:00Today's topic is the Alo-Bushevka telephone line,
00:10which is known as the SOS line within the framework of the first child care center Megeshiv,
00:16which was formed in 1993.
00:20This enables psychological support for children and young people,
00:25but also the protection of our rights.
00:30More about the line itself, how to use it rationally and what it offers,
00:35in addition to the psychological support that I mentioned this morning,
00:39we hear from Clementina Dobravska from the child care center Megesh.
00:43Good morning, Clementina, and good day to you in our Trinsk.
00:46Good morning.
00:47First, how to use this line properly and what it offers.
00:52You mentioned that it offers psychological support, but why?
00:57There is no right answer.
01:00The line is open to everyone, although, as you mentioned,
01:03the name of the telephone is for children and young people.
01:07The child care center works in the field of children and young people
01:10up to 18 and up to 26 years old,
01:13but we are open to the wider and smaller families
01:17in case they work for children and young people.
01:21We want to have information from children and young people,
01:24as well as from parents, grandmothers and grandfathers
01:27who want a better care for their children.
01:31As you mentioned, the telephone is more than 30 years old
01:35and since 2021 it has been renamed to Alo Bušavko Telephone for Children and Young People
01:40because we wanted to start the SOS shortcut
01:43to be much closer and child-friendly to the children,
01:47so that the child does not feel that there is a problem
01:51while turning to Alo Bušavko.
01:53On the contrary, they can contact us for any challenge
01:56from their everyday life.
01:58You mentioned that it can be used by parents, grandmothers and grandfathers.
02:02This means that everything related to children and young people
02:06can be used by this telephone line
02:09and this does not mean that it is not rational or improperly used.
02:13How often do we have such cases?
02:17Over the past few years, the most frequent cases
02:20are related to the mental health of children,
02:23all types of violence, problems in the family,
02:26neglect of children, dysfunctionality in the family
02:29and that category of accessibility,
02:32whether to education, to certain basic needs, etc.
02:35Just because you know that we still have children
02:38who live in poverty,
02:40so these are not the most frequent cases.
02:44This series of problems is intertwined with the years,
02:48but the focus is still on children and young people.
02:52The focus is more on us as a public,
02:55especially as a children's embassy,
02:58and all of us as citizens of Macedonia
03:01to help these problems to be reduced.
03:04Have you heard that some children or young people
03:07who want to get psychological support
03:10are physically abused,
03:13but there is no way for you to help them
03:16due to the fact that they are anonymous?
03:21You see, all the efforts of the children's embassy
03:24and the non-governmental organization
03:27are trying to help and get out in the middle of every child.
03:30I would not say that we cannot help.
03:33Most of the statements are not anonymous.
03:36There are children who want to remain anonymous,
03:39and we are trying to help them.
03:42We are trying to help them
03:45to be part of the investigation process.
03:48We are cooperating with the institutions
03:51and we are reporting all the cases
03:54that are reported to us
03:57in accordance with the reporters
04:00regarding the problems that are reported to us.
04:03The children's embassy
04:06has a large number of representatives
04:09in the past 30 years
04:12in relation to the relevant institutions,
04:15the National Law Enforcement Agency,
04:18and all the other institutions
04:21that work in the protection of children's rights.
04:24We are doing our best
04:27and we are gradually seeing
04:30how we are making progress in the protection of children's rights.
04:33The most important thing is the progress itself.
04:36Before we start,
04:39you mentioned some statistics
04:42in relation to the past year, 2023.
04:45How are the statistics moving
04:48in relation to the statements?
04:51I can say that in general,
04:54specifically for 2023,
04:57we have more than 300 statements per year,
05:00more than 600 additional statements
05:03with the reporters.
05:06It is also important to mention
05:09that we are following the process
05:12from the beginning of the application
05:15to the end of the cases.
05:18This is a continuous relationship
05:21between the reporters and our operators
05:24that work within Lobushevka.
05:27We have a monthly level of more than 30 statements,
05:30although in the summer,
05:33when the weather is getting warmer,
05:36the number decreases.
05:39However, since the beginning of the school year,
05:42the number of statements has increased.
05:45This is a general picture.
05:48In relation to the statistics,
05:51I would like to mention
05:54that the age range of children
05:57who contact us
06:00is from 13 to 15 years,
06:0310 to 12 years,
06:06so we have children
06:09who are in an advanced stage,
06:12but we also have children
06:15who are in the same age range.
06:18I mentioned about 30 statements
06:21and that is a small number.
06:24On the one hand,
06:27this number of 30
06:30may be more useful
06:33for those who need help
06:36but on the other hand,
06:39does this mean that the number of people
06:42who need help is increasing?
06:45This is a question for discussion.
06:48The number of statements is increasing.
06:51This means that the awareness of the citizens,
06:54the parents and the children
06:57is increasing in relation to the statements
07:00in relation to the problems or challenges
07:03so that they can be solved.
07:06I cannot speculate
07:09whether the number is increasing
07:12or whether it is good or not,
07:15but we have a space
07:18to focus on some other aspects.
07:21In the past few years,
07:24there has been a lot of activities
07:27that we connect with the phone
07:30and with other activities within the children's embassy.
07:33I think that all these activities
07:36contribute to increasing awareness
07:39about the children's problems
07:42and to improving their rights.
07:47As a representative of the children's embassy,
07:50why should the young people
07:53who need help call you
07:56to explain to them
07:59that it is not a big deal
08:02and what is the phone number?
08:05I encourage all children and young people
08:08who need to talk
08:11about the situation in the world
08:14and about the problems
08:17and challenges that the children face.
08:20We have operators
08:23who are available 24 hours a day
08:26for the children and young people.
08:29The phone number is 070-390-632.
08:35Thank you for your time
08:38and for the opportunity
08:41to tell me such important information.
08:44Thank you for the invitation.
08:47Of course, I encourage all young people
08:50and children who may not be watching
08:53in these early morning hours
08:56to call the new telephone line
08:59ALO BUSHAVKO
09:02because ALO BUSHAVKO
09:05is an international, independent and non-profit organization
09:08based in the United States of America.
