00:00But let's begin with soccer, and I think we've got to begin with the Copa America Championship.
00:08It's coming up Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern, but before we get to the championship, let's go
00:12back to last night.
00:15I mean, after this game between Argentina and Uruguay, right after the game, and our
00:22buddy Kyle Bond from Sporting News was at the game last night in North Carolina.
00:27This was an insane scene, as fans and players from Team Uruguay ended up going into the
00:36stands, as you see there.
00:39It was a very physical match, to say the least.
00:42But a Mexican referee, Cesar Ramos, after his final whistle, 70,000 fans watched.
00:50It looked like all of them were Columbia fans, and of course they were letting Uruguay have
00:54it.
00:55But then this player went into the stands, his name is Darwin Nunez, his teammates also
00:59climbed a staircase into the crowd.
01:02Look at that.
01:03Nunez looks like he punched a fan, Colombian team colors.
01:06If you don't know what colors it is, obviously it's yellow.
01:10Uruguay captain Jose Jimenez says players went into the crowd to protect their families.
01:15Now, needless to say, the Soccer Federations have to take a closer look at this, because
01:20this is not something that can ever happen.
01:23Anytime players have gone into the stands, bad things happen.
01:27And that indeed was the case, as you could see last night.
01:30Good job by Kyle Bond videoing that stuff as well.
01:32Also, England advance to the second consecutive Eurofinal.
01:36They defeated the Netherlands 2-1.
01:39The story was a sub that had the game winner.
01:43His name is Ali Watkins, in the 90th minute, unbelievable finish, and you know, naturally
01:50this was the story of the game, as Watkins ends up taking the game winner home.
01:55So we'll see if England can get to another championship in the Euro Cup.
02:00And Watkins, after the game, talked about his game-winning goal.
02:03Game, the hold-up play, but the goal is, you know, that's my bread and butter running in
02:09behind and causing the defense trouble.
02:12I said to Kyle that he was going to, we were both going to go on the pitch and he was going
02:16to set me up at halftime.
02:18And it happened, you know, I manifested it and as soon as he turned, I knew to make the
02:25move and, you know, you don't get that opportunity very often.
02:29So I had to be greedy.
02:30I had to take it and I've just seen it go into the bottom corner.
02:34I don't think I've hit a ball that sweet before, obviously in such a special moment as well.
02:40You know, it's funny that, you know, the kids these days, they say they're manifesting things.
02:44Is this just that simple out there where you manifest something and it happens?
02:48And golly, Watkins and the goal, I got to remind myself of that next thing I need manifested.
02:52Meanwhile, England will play Spain for the EuroCup Sunday at three o'clock Eastern.
02:56Well, naturally, we did not think that we would be starting off with a fight after the
03:01match yesterday.
03:02We thought we would be starting off the show with this story, which was the big one in
03:06sports yesterday in terms of soccer, as Team USA is looking for a new leader.
03:11Greg Berhalter fired yesterday in the wake of the team's poor showing at this year's
03:16Copa America.
03:17He failed to get past the first stage after defeating, losing to Uruguay and Panama.
03:25First time the U.S. men's team was eliminated in the group stage.
03:29And so we expected this would happen with Berhalter.
03:32But most analysts thought that it wouldn't happen this soon.
03:35It did happen.
03:36We'll see who they end up hiring.
03:38Also another top story here from the former player in the National Basketball Association
03:43who's been accused of essentially shaving his own props and betting on his own props
03:48that he's been banned for life from the NBA.
03:51And Jonte Porter has now pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and faces
03:57four years in jail just for some simple bets that didn't even make him life changing money.
04:05Hopefully, hopefully players across the league realize it just ain't worth it.
04:10Speaking of the NBA, where are the games going to air next year on television and streaming?
04:16It still remains to be seen.
04:18But as of right now, the NBA has agreed to a $76 billion media rights deal and the games
04:26are moving over to NBC.
04:28But there is one caveat according to The Athletic, which is that there is some potential for
04:33another broadcast company to match the offer.
04:37So not completely done yet, but the speculation is that NBC will have the rights to the games
04:43coming up as soon as this season.
04:46Meanwhile, Team USA has defeated Canada in a friendly 86 to 72.
04:52It is over.
04:53Team USA gets their first win of the exhibition season.
04:57They begin for real on July 28th.
05:00How about Angel Reese?
05:01She secures her 14th straight double-double in the closing seconds to extend a WNBA record.
05:07She's been fantastic.
05:09The Chicago Sky defeat the Atlanta Dream 78 to 69 on Wednesday.
05:15Reese had 11 points and 13 rebounds, only to be upstaged quite a bit by Asia Wilson.
05:21How about this line?
05:2224 points, 20 rebounds in her first career 2020 game.
05:28The Aces have been fantastic, although the point spread was five, so the oddsmakers had
05:32it right.
05:33Landed on five.
05:34Aces beat the Storm 84 to 79, 21st 2020 game in WNBA history, and Wilson is the second
05:41in Aces franchise history to do so.
05:44All right, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
05:46Have they met their match?
05:47The Phillies beat the Dodgers again yesterday, and naturally the Phillies are just playing
05:51some great baseball down the stretch.
05:53Bryce Harper is back.
05:54Kyle Schwarber is back.
05:56They're getting good pitching from Aaron Nola.
05:57Although Zach Wheeler's a little bit banged up.
05:59The Philadelphia Phillies with another victory against LA.
06:03Meanwhile, Home Run Derby is coming up on Monday night, and the field is now set.
06:08To my dismay, a bunch of right-handed hitters.
06:11Yesterday, Adalis Garcia named to the Home Run Derby.
06:15Seven of the eight hitters, by the way, are right-handed.
06:18The only lefty is going to be Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles, although Jose Ramirez,
06:22who was named also, he is a switch hitter.
06:25As far as afternoon baseball is concerned, the Cleveland Guardians will take on the Detroit
06:29Tigers.
06:31That game going off this afternoon.
06:32The total is eight in this one.
06:34The Tigers are a slight favorite.
06:37Nationals and Mets also this afternoon, Mets minus 136 on the money line there.
06:42Total eight and a half.
06:43And can Reese Hines continue to hit for the Cincinnati Reds?
06:47He's unstoppable at the moment.
06:49They're minus 200 against the Colorado Rockies, who have the second worst record in the National
06:54League going into today's play.
06:57Meanwhile, the Scottish Open, did you wake up at two o'clock in the morning to watch
07:01the first tee off?
07:02You're probably like me.
07:03I did not.
07:04Let's get to the leaderboard here.
07:07As Maximilian Kiefer is in the lead at six under par currently at the Scottish Open.
07:13Last week's winner, David Thompson, Rory McIlroy, right behind him at five under par.
07:19At Wimbledon, it's been upset after upset.
07:21The 25th ranked player, Lorenzo Musetti, defeated the 13th ranked player, Taylor Fritz.
07:27He's advanced to the semifinals.
07:28Musetti is going to play Novak Djokovic tomorrow at the semifinals.
07:34Meanwhile, the women's singles rolls on today.
07:38And so we'll update that match for you coming up a little bit later.
07:42And also, how about this?
07:45A player in the hotdog eating contest last week ended up being accused of cheating, essentially
07:51throwing in an extra plate of food that he did not have access to going in to the hotdog
07:57eating contest.
07:58Needless to say, we have some controversy potentially brewing, and I don't know what
08:03could come out of this, but I guess it still remains to be seen.
