Amid May and June’s brutal heat, my captivity protest outside the UNHCR office on the polluted pavement highlighted severe adversities and deteriorating conditions, characterized by profound neglect and unrelenting starvation, despite numerous pleas for nourishment, met with dismissive and hostile responses epitomizing sheer negligence.
Repeated incidents of anonymous motorcyclists or passing individuals discarding food under my blanket or near my banner during my slumber, aiming to demean and dehumanize, highlight an unsettling pattern of harassment, further degrading my fragile state.
Proximity to a bustling supermarket and eateries juxtaposed with the inaccessibility of essential nourishment revealed community apathy and the hypocrisy of humanitarian entities. This ongoing situation underscored societal savagery and the disconnect between humanitarian ideals and their executions, leaving me continuously hungry and isolated.
Daily struggles with heat, dust, inadequate support, and debris, exacerbated by a lack of necessary detergents and failed attempts to get UNHCR aid, intensified my plight. The aftermath of the April 23rd demolition, with street-side cold showers and manual washing of clothes, further underscored the lack of genuine support and highlighted the inadequacies of those meant to aid.
