00:00The Coast Guard is investigating if a Chinese ship was anchored in the boat of the Filipino brothers.
00:08The reason is to get rid of one of them.
00:11They called it the Vessel of Endurance.
00:14Marisol Abdurrahman is on the case.
00:21A few days after the Philippine fishermen anchored the boat in the West Philippine Sea,
00:2662 nautical miles away from Sampaloc Point in Subic, Zambales,
00:30the Philippine Coast Guard has a Vessel of Interest, the Yong Famen,
00:34a Chinese commercial vessel that, according to the PCG,
00:38is almost the same size as three basketball courts.
00:41Based on the PCG's monitoring,
00:43a ship was anchored in the area around 3 p.m. on July 3,
00:48when the incident happened.
00:50The ship came from China and went to Adang Bay in Indonesia.
00:54The PCG supports state control of Indonesia.
00:58To inform the ship that there was such an incident.
01:03The PCG also informed the Chinese Embassy about the incident.
01:07The PCG will also write to the China Maritime Safety Agency
01:11for their cooperation in the ongoing investigation.
01:14The incident is still being investigated,
01:17including the physical evidence,
01:19to find out what really happened.
01:21What the PCG is wondering is,
01:23why didn't the ship detect the boat of the fishermen?
01:27These ships have the technology and equipment
01:32to know that there is an object close to their ship.
01:37The rescued fisherman, Robert Mondeñedo,
01:40said that he intended to anchor them.
01:42Their boat is like a silencer.
01:47Why didn't they anchor us?
01:51We saw it.
01:52But the PCG has yet to say this.
01:55What's clear is,
01:56the ship shouldn't have left the Filipino fishermen.
02:00It's just a small ship.
02:01It's like a small phosphor.
02:03After the storm, as long as it's left,
02:05it's really straight.
02:06The PCG's search and rescue operation continues
02:09for the missing fisherman, Robert's brother.
02:12Aside from the BRP ship,
02:14the PCG's airplane also flew to the scene.
02:18The PCG clarified that there is no connection
02:20with the issue in the West Philippine Sea
02:23because it can be considered as a maritime incident.
