Snap overnight curfew in Alice Springs won’t be extended

The Northern Territory Police Commissioner has chosen not to extend the snap 72-hour curfew imposed on Alice Springs earlier this week. Michael Murphy says the measures have had a noticeable effect in preventing public disorder. But an outbreak of violence in the town yesterday afternoon has left many questioning the effectiveness of the night-time lock-out approach.
