00:00The lights are slowly coming back on after an island-wide outage on Kauai.
00:05Still no word on the cause.
00:07The generator kicked in at one hotel, Hanalei Bay, but most of the island's been pitch black
00:12since about 7.30.
00:14The hotel sent guests this text message saying they should use a flashlight from their bathroom.
00:20The Kauai Island Utility Cooperative says it's still trying to figure out the problem.
00:25This live look at its outage map shows about 54 percent of the island is still without
00:31power.
00:32That's more than 20,000 customers.
00:34It was at 80 percent an hour ago.
00:36KIUC says it does not have a timeline for full restoration, but will post updates on
00:41social media.
