England are into the Euro 2024 final!

England are into the Euro 2024 final - but it took a last-gasp winner from Ollie Watkins.

00:00England have done it. They're into the final of Euro 2024.

00:04It was by far England's best performance of the tournament.

00:07They've been flattering to the sea for large parts of this competition.

00:11They improved a little bit against Switzerland,

00:14but the first half against Holland today,

00:16they weren't behind and we've seen them go behind before

00:19and it almost felt like it kicked them into gear,

00:22like they needed it to kick on,

00:24they needed to open up and flourish a little bit.

00:28That first half, like I say, was the best we've seen England play.

00:31They did fall behind through a fantastic Xavi Simmonds goal,

00:34Declan Rice getting caught out a little bit

00:37and not really getting the help he needed when he did,

00:39but England did what they had to do.

00:41There was a little bit of luck there.

00:43I don't think there'll be many England fans who'll disagree with that.

00:46A little bit fortuitous with Harry Kane winning

00:49and then scoring a penalty to make it 1-1,

00:51but after that, it was all England for the first half.

00:55The changes made at half-time, Luke Shaw came on for England,

00:58which I think was the substitution that most England fans

01:00would have been looking for,

01:03along with the fact that they made changes for the Netherlands as well.

01:07It kind of nullified the game a little bit,

01:09both sides, neither side really managed to get going

01:13and it looked like it was going to extra time,

01:15but as we've seen so often with this England team,

01:18they found that little bit extra

01:20and to be fair to Gareth Southgate,

01:22the changes that he made worked to a tee.

01:24One of them came on and got the assist,

01:27Cole Palmer coming on and slotting in a beautiful ball

01:30to Ali Watkins.

01:31The other, Ali Watkins getting the finish.

01:33It's crazy to think that not that long back,

01:35he was playing at Weston-Super-Mare.

01:37He was at Exeter, he was at Brentford

01:39and now he's scoring the goal that takes England

01:41to the Euro 2024 final.

01:43It's been an incredible night

01:44and an incredible way to finish the game.

01:46Lots to be said in the days that follow,
