00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at notorious times people were turned into
00:07internet celebrities, but not for the pure reasons they likely dreamed of.
00:11We'll explore the incident that sparked their infamy and the aftermath.
00:20Nicole Arbour
00:21An actor and comedian, Arbour also had an active YouTube channel.
00:25But in 2015, she moved into confrontational sketches that used comedy as a smokescreen
00:31to insult groups.
00:32She took it too far with one called Dear Fat People, dismissing obesity as a disease and
00:37going on a fat-shaming rant.
00:41Many people criticized the video and Arbour's views, but she justified it all as satire.
00:47Reportedly, the controversial video even cost her a film job.
00:51Later on, Arbour admitted she did the video as a marketing ploy, which apparently earned
00:55her thousands.
01:01She made a series of similar videos, all using reactionary comedy to target different
01:06groups for attention.
01:08Charles Charlie Withers
01:10If there's one thing the internet collectively loves, it's a juicy mystery.
01:15In 2024, Ashley McGuire went viral with her Facebook post looking for her estranged English
01:21husband and TV chef, Withers.
01:30While she was pregnant with their second child the year before, he apparently ghosted her
01:34and disappeared.
01:35McGuire was looking for him to issue divorce papers and stressed not to harass him.
01:47Working by Charlie now instead of Charles, the internet in less than 16 hours found he
01:52had moved from Massachusetts to Texas and discovered his Bumble profile.
02:03On the radio station Jammin' 94.5, McGuire confirmed Withers had been in touch but seemed
02:08more concerned with his new employer being publicly stated than his two kids.
02:13Dan Bilzerian
02:14Known as the king of Instagram, professional poker player and businessman Bilzerian loves
02:19to post about his extravagant lifestyle.
02:27While often showcasing tropical locations, expensive cars, and designer clothing, these
02:32posts have also gotten him into trouble.
02:35Bilzerian likes beautiful women around him, leading to accusations that he uses them as
02:39props for his content.
02:40In 2017, Bilzerian was criticized for posting an insensitive video of him running from the
02:46shooting tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.
02:50Reportedly, he tried to borrow a firearm from a police officer but was rejected.
03:03This, as well as various other legal issues and scandals, caused Bilzerian's stock to
03:20fall rapidly.
03:27Ollie London
03:28Nowadays, London is a political commentator who supports the anti-gender movement.
03:36But long before that, he came to infamy for subjecting himself to a series of surgeries
03:41to look Korean, even though he is of white, British descent.
03:50Using BTS member Jimin as an inspiration, London appeared on several TV shows to highlight
04:05his quote, transracial identity, and released K-pop-influenced songs.
04:22This immediately drew the ire of many, especially from the South Korean community.
04:26London received further criticism for stating his intention to have quote, little London
04:30reduced to fit in with an insulting stereotype.
04:34In 2022, shortly after coming out as a trans woman and wanting to emulate Blackpink member
04:39Rosé, London announced he was detransitioning and radically changed his views.
04:53Courtney Stodden
04:54In 2011, the U.S. was shocked by the announcement that Stodden, who later came out as non-binary,
05:01had married actor Doug Hutchison.
05:03The issue was that Stodden was only 16 at the time, and Hutchison was more than 30 years
05:07older.
05:16Stodden had met Hutchison after signing up to attend his acting class.
05:20According to the Green Mile Performer, his agent dropped him, and his family ostracized
05:25him after the scandalous announcement.
05:27Stodden soon appeared on several reality shows, often connected to their controversial nuptials.
05:41In 2020, after breaking up and reconciling, Stodden announced their divorce from Hutchison
05:46on Instagram.
05:47In the same post, Stodden accused the actor of grooming them and later stated he was abusive.
05:53Kim Davis
05:55In 2014, Davis was elected county clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky.
05:59By the following year, she would gain notoriety for all the wrong reasons.
06:04The Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage throughout the 50 states, but not on Davis'
06:08watch.
06:19She turned down any such requests, using her religious beliefs as an excuse.
06:24One gay couple recorded Davis rejecting them, and the footage went viral.
06:35Her actions forced her to be jailed for five days for contempt of court, allowing her deputies
06:40to begin issuing same-sex marriage licenses with Davis' name removed from the document.
06:53On top of losing her clerk role in 2019, in 2024, Davis was ordered to pay over $360,000
07:02after being successfully sued by a couple she had rejected.
07:20Marvel Women
07:21In 2017, to celebrate the memory of legendary comic publisher Flo Steinberg, who had recently
07:26passed, a group of women working for Marvel Comics had a selfie taken as they enjoyed
07:31milkshakes.
07:32From this innocent picture, Comicsgate stuck its grim head up.
07:36As an alt-right movement within the industry, this vocal minority believes storytelling
07:40that doesn't revolve all around them all the time is a bad thing.
07:54Instead, they argue that quote, diversity hires, mostly those who aren't white, right-wing,
08:00cishet men are ruining comics.
08:02Heather Antos, who posted the photo, was viciously targeted by trolls.
08:06They sent her messages filled with misogynistic language, insults, and threats.
08:10They even doxed her.
08:12But while Antos is celebrated in the industry, Comicsgate cannot say the same.
08:24Hawk to a Girl
08:38In 2024, the YouTube channel Tim and DTV released a video where they interviewed people on the
08:44street and asked intimate questions.
08:46At one point, they asked participants what actions they did to drive men wild in the
08:51bedroom.
08:52After that, Hayley Welch stepped up to the plate, albeit slightly inebriated, and told
08:56about her unique technique, gaining the title of Hawk to a Girl from the internet.
09:03With her newfound fame, Welch quit her job at a bedspring factory and cashed in by signing
09:08a merchandise deal, getting representation, and creating her own company.
09:27She's also rubbed shoulders with famous faces, such as Zach Bryan and Shaquille O'Neal.
09:33In 2016, the catchphrase Cash Me Outside swept over the internet and everyday life.
09:41And it all originated from Danielle Bregoli appearing in an episode of Dr. Phil.
09:59Her mother brought the teen on the show, recounting her struggle to raise Bregoli after
10:03getting into various legal escapades.
10:05When the audience laughed at her attitude, the future bad baby challenged them to a fight
10:09by issuing the infamous phrase, drawing bewilderment and turning her into a meme icon.
10:16Later, Bregoli was sent to the Turnabout Ranch, which is intended for troubled teens.
10:29However, in 2021, she publicly spoke about the abuse she sustained and witnessed at the
10:34facility.
10:42Bregoli has since used her viral fame to carve out a career as a rapper.

11:12Logan Paul
11:13Before becoming a wrestler, Paul was a popular YouTuber who gained enough internet fame to
11:17get roles in mainstream TV and films.
11:20But in 2017, he tanked his reputation in a thoughtless instant.
11:38While in Japan, he uploaded an insensitive video that contained footage of a man who
11:42had taken his life in a forest.
11:45Immediately, the internet, politicians, and celebrities were outraged at Paul.
11:50Many demanded YouTube close his channel.
11:59Due to the backlash, Paul deleted the clip and uploaded an apology.
12:04However, this didn't stop numerous acting roles and business opportunities from distancing
12:14themselves.
12:15His brother, Jake, can relate.
12:17While acting in Disney's Bizaardvark, he was fired by the show after many complaints
12:21from neighbors over his YouTube stunts.
12:30What other cases did we miss?
