00:00But we begin, of course, with some soccer, and let's get started with the Copa America
00:10two to nothing final, as many predicted yesterday.
00:14Argentina defeats Canada, and in a game like this, you would call it not particularly close.
00:19They score two goals, Canada scores none.
00:22Julian Alvarez scored in the first half, Leo Messi scored in the second half.
00:27In fact, Messi was scoreless through Argentina's five Copa America matches, suffering a right
00:32groin adductor injury, but he has returned, and he played well yesterday.
00:38And so now, Argentina will play in the Copa America final on Sunday in South Florida.
00:42They await the Columbia-Uruguay game, which will be played tonight, and we will, of course,
00:49discuss that at 8 o'clock p.m. Eastern.
00:51All of the action will be covered for you right here on Pharrell and in-game live tonight.
00:57Uruguay-Columbia semi-finals tonight, 8 o'clock Eastern.
01:02Over in the Euro Cup, Spain defeats France by a final of two to one.
01:06In fact, France took the lead within 10 minutes, but Spain responded with two goals in quick
01:11succession, 15 minutes to take the lead, and they never gave it back.
01:15Big story here.
01:1616-year-old player Lamine Yamal, 16 years old on Spain, had a goal in this game, and
01:22it turned out to be the equalizer.
01:24Spain has now won all six games at the Euro 2024 and are trying to win for the fourth
01:31time in the championship.
01:33The semi-finals, in terms of who they will play, will be determined today, 3 o'clock
01:38Eastern, Netherlands and England in the Euro semi-finals, 3 o'clock Eastern today.
01:45Another match will watch for you live here on SportsGrid later this afternoon and throughout
01:50the evening.
01:51Big story from Team USA in the Olympics as they get ready to play Serbia on July 28th.
01:56One player and an NBA champion is not going to be on the roster.
02:00Kawhi Leonard, according to several published reports, has pulled out of Team USA.
02:05He's gone out of the Olympics for an injury.
02:09There are some reports that Derek White of the Boston Celtics could potentially replace
02:13him on the roster.
02:15Still working through that, this just happened within the last hour, Kawhi Leonard, one of
02:19the greats of the game, not playing on Team USA in the Olympics, releasing a statement
02:25essentially that they'll have to replace him in Paris this summer.
02:29Also, yesterday, very interesting note in the National Football League, for some reason,
02:34the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott, was seen in a walking boot.
02:42Now, naturally, this is going to get a lot of attention because, again, this is just
02:45OTAs.
02:46But, essentially, at this point, this is just to protect his foot, apparently.
02:51Needless to say, it brings up a lot more questions than answers.
02:56Yeah, I'm great.
02:57Honestly, I'm getting older.
02:58It's the same ankle, right, that I snapped and had a nasty surgery on four years ago.
03:03So, yeah, a couple of hard days of training and, you know, you get a little sore and then
03:07you're going on a fishing trip and you want to protect it and make sure that things don't
03:11get worse.
03:12So, literally, it's absolutely nothing.
03:14That's why I said people are reaching, trying to make things that they aren't.
03:18I'm getting older.
03:19I have to take care of my body.
03:20I have to be smart.
03:21And if I can take precautions and lessen something by putting on a boot, I'm going to do it.
03:25And so, sorry that it costs such a world.
03:29All right.
03:3034 years old.
03:31I guess it does make sense.
03:32If, indeed, that is the truth, Dak Prescott will open up with NFL training camps.
03:35They all begin later this month in the Hall of Fame game, folks, is the first day in August
03:41this year.
03:42Early start for the NFL preseason.
03:43Can't wait for that.
03:44Okay.
03:45The Cincinnati Reds couldn't wait for the debut of Reese Hines.
03:47Maybe they should have called him up earlier in the season.
03:49Another huge game for Hines yesterday.
03:52First player ever with five extra base hits in his first two games.
03:55He homered again and fell one single shy of the cycle.
03:59So, talk about rookie success.
04:01My gosh.
04:02The fans in Cincinnati absolutely loving it.
04:05Last night, Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians became the second player to get
04:08intentionally walked three times and have three hits in a game since Major League Baseball
04:13started tracking this in 1955.
04:16Cleveland beat Detroit 9-8 in 10 innings.
04:20And also, Cleveland announced that Jose Ramirez is going to participate in the Home Run Derby
04:25on Monday night.
04:26They still need to fill that roster out with two more players.
04:29The Dodgers place Tyler Glass now on the 15-day injured list.
04:33He'll spend some time resting during the All-Star break.
04:36Obviously, not going to pitch in the All-Star game, so he'll need to be replaced.
04:41Zach Wheeler also left last night's game in the same affair with some back-tightness.
04:45He will probably need to be replaced in the All-Star game as well, though Bryce Harper
04:49did return in that game last night.
04:51And now we go to a story that nobody ever wants to talk about.
04:54That's for sure me either.
04:55Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco.
04:58You may have heard about this about a year ago, maybe a little bit less.
05:04With some domestic issues, of course, in the Dominican Republic.
05:07Well, now he has been formally charged with sexual abuse and sexual exploitation against
05:13a minor in the Dominican Republic.
05:15And reporters in the DR are also saying child trafficking is potentially one of the charges
05:21against Wander Franco, who faces a very lengthy jail sentence if indeed he is convicted.
05:26OK, a lot of kids in camp all over the country.
05:30So a camp day across the WNBA today.
05:33Lots of afternoon games, in fact, coming up at 12 Eastern.
05:36New York Liberty, Connecticut Sun, one of the games on tap, Atlanta Dream versus the
05:41Chicago Sky.
05:43And one of the marquee games always, because the Indiana Fever is playing, it's the Washington
05:47Mystics and the Indiana Fever.
05:51Those are some of the games coming up.
05:53We mentioned Kawhi Leonard, not surprised.
05:56Paul George left the Clippers.
05:57George said yesterday he was disrespected.
05:59Team USA's final exhibition game against Canada is tonight.
06:04Kevin Durant not going to play.
06:05So short Kawhi, short Durant.
06:07I mean, Team USA may have to pick up a couple of guys.
06:09Former Timberwolves employee has avoided a jail sentence for gross misdemeanor charge
06:14of unauthorized computer access, according to ESPN.
06:17Naturally, this is a story we'll follow for you as well.
06:20All right.
06:21Now, a big story in the world of sports betting.
06:23We talked about a company that was very popular outside of the United States called Betway.
06:29They entered the United States for sports betting when it became legal.
06:32They have decided this morning, according to a legal sports report, that they are out
06:37of USA.
06:38So those of you who are betting on Betway or ever have, you may want to get that money
06:40out because they are departing.
06:42Novak Djokovic advances to Wimbledon semifinals.
06:46As the opponent that he was going to face, Alec DeMenard, ended up withdrawing with a
06:51hip injury.
06:52DeMenard is from Australia.
06:53He was seated ninth in the tournament.
06:55He announced he's pulling out of the tournament just hours before he and Djokovic were supposed
06:59to face off at center court.
07:00So Djokovic, essentially with a day of rest, not having to play today at Wimbledon.
07:07Brett Favre is trying to sue Shannon Sharpe.
07:09He's been trying to do this for a while.
07:11He asked a federal appeals court on Tuesday to revive a defamation lawsuit against Favre,
07:16excuse me, against Sharpe, former tight end, amidst a backdrop of a Mississippi welfare
07:22scandal, one of the state's largest public corruption cases, essentially.
07:26I'll break it down for you.
07:27Favre does not like what Shannon Sharpe had to say about him, so he's suing.
07:30And also, this is sort of surprising, Hurricane Beryl, and I'm all too familiar with hurricanes
07:35here in South Florida, this one was just going all around the country and ended up hitting
07:40the United States here in Texas and hit NRG Stadium, suffering damage to its roof, very
07:46similar to Hurricane Ike back in 2008.
07:49And the Texans play a home game against the Baltimore Ravens in September of 2008, which
07:55caused a postponement.
07:56No word on what will happen, but there's a lot of time to get the stadium ready, I would
08:01assume, for the opening night for the Houston Texans this season.
08:05They're expected to have a big year as well.
