00:00Hi, and welcome to Bandstand 66, the first of our new shows in what we believe is going to be an exciting bandstand year.
00:08As exciting as this special from the uniquely talented group which started the folk singing boom, and will certainly outlive it,
00:15Peter, Paul and Mary. Six months ago, when Peter, Paul and Mary visited Australia for the second time,
00:20we were very proud to be able to record their two-hour concert from the Festival Hall in Melbourne.
00:25One hour of this concert was presented by WD and H.O. Wills, makers of Craven filter cigarettes,
00:31under the title of Peter, Paul and Mary in Concert. You probably saw it.
00:34Tonight, we bring you the other half of the show, the half you didn't see.
00:38Ladies and gentlemen, for Bandstand, Peter, Paul and Mary.
00:55You read about Samson, and you read about his birth. He was the strongest man that ever lived on earth.
01:11One day, Samson, he was a-walkin' alone, and he looked down on the ground, and he saw an old jawbone.
01:19He lifted up that jawbone, and it swung it over his head, and when he got to movin',
01:25he laughed and found him was dead.
01:27If I had my way, if I had my way in this wicked world, if I had my way, I would tear this building down.
01:45Samson and the lion, they got in an attack. Samson rolled up on the lion's back, and he made a thousand lion.
01:55He killed a man with his paw, and old Samson, he got his hand around that lion's feet.
02:01And the lion was standing, and the big man, he heard him.
02:08If I had my way, if I had my way in this wicked world, if I had my way, I would tear this building down.
02:26Delilah, she was a woman, she was fine and fair. She had a lovely look, and she had cold black hair.
02:34And she said to Samson, she said to me, she said, tell me one more strange lies.
02:40If I had my way, if I had my way, if I had my way, if I had my way, if I had my way in this wicked world,
03:05if I had my way, I would tear this building down.
03:34Yeah, yeah.
03:36Three, four.
03:45I got lost in the jungle, baby, let me down by the Pisco Bay, yeah, yeah.
03:51An ocean liner came and took her away, yeah, yeah.
03:56I didn't mean to treat her bad, she was the best friend I ever had.
04:01She made me fight, she made me cry, she made me wanna lay down my head and die.
04:06I ain't got a nickel, and I ain't got a lot of time.
04:11She doesn't come back, I think I'm gonna lose my mind.
04:15Hey, if she ever comes back today, it's gonna be another brand new day.
04:21I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay, yeah, yeah.
04:26I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay.
04:30Well, I'm sitting down on the back porch, I don't know which way to go.
04:35The girl that I was so crazy about, she don't love me anymore.
04:40I think I'm gonna take a freight train, cause I'm feeling blue.
04:45I'm gonna ride it to the end of the line, thinking only of you.
04:50I ain't got a nickel, and I ain't got a lot of time.
04:55She doesn't come back, I think I'm gonna lose my mind.
05:00Hey, if she ever comes back today, it's gonna be another brand new day.
05:06I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay, yeah, yeah.
05:11I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay.
05:25.
05:39.
05:52.
06:02Well, I ain't got a nickel, and I ain't got a lot of time.
06:07You know she don't come back, I think I'm gonna lose my mind.
06:12Hey, if she ever comes back today, it's gonna be another brand new day.
06:18I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay, yeah, yeah.
06:23I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay.
06:28I'm walking with my baby by the Pisco Bay.
06:41.
07:02Jesus met the woman at the well.
07:31And he told her everything she'd ever done.
07:41He said, woman, woman, where is your husband?
07:50He said, woman, woman, where is your husband?
08:00He said, woman, woman, where is your husband?
08:10I know everything she's ever done.
08:20He said, Jesus, Jesus, I ain't got no husband.
08:29He said, Jesus, Jesus, I ain't got no husband.
08:39He said, Jesus, Jesus, I ain't got no husband.
08:49And you don't know everything I've ever done.
08:58He said, woman, woman, you've got five husbands.
09:08He said, woman, woman, you've got five husbands.
09:18He said, woman, woman, you've got five husbands.
09:28And the one you have now is not your own.
09:37He said, well, there's a man, well, there's a man.
09:43He must be a prophet.
09:47He said, well, there's a man, well, there's a man.
09:53He must be a prophet.
09:57He said, well, there's a man, well, there's a man.
10:03He must be a prophet.
10:07And you don't know everything I've ever done.
10:17He said, well, there's a man, well, there's a man.
10:27He said, well, there's a man, well, there's a man.
10:37Jesus said, well, there's a man, well, there's a man.
10:45And he told us everything she'd ever done.
10:58There are what they call contemporary folk writers now,
11:07people who write in the folk idiom but comment on today.
11:13And as a matter of fact, in 19, in the 30s, in the States, during the Depression,
11:17there was a writer who wrote a song called Buddy, Can You Spare a Dime,
11:21which was destined strictly for Tin Pan Alley,
11:24which most folk scholars consider now as being a true representative of the time.
11:30However, there's a dark ages, you know, of contemporary folk writing.
11:33There's a certain area that had no comment whatsoever.
11:38And so Dick and I, Dick Kness, the bass player, and myself, were up at Newport.
11:42Not the Newport here, but the Newport there.
11:45And although I've been to the Newport here, it's nice,
11:48but it didn't have a folk festival at the same time.
11:50I won't go into that.
11:52But in any event, we got together after one of the evening performances
11:57and wrote a song that bespeaks, yea, of another era.
12:04One and a two and a three.
12:14On a desert island of magic, yours and my land.
12:26Every day's a holiday with you.
12:30Under a blue sky, dear, we could get an idea
12:34of what our two lips were meant to do.
12:39Strolling beside you hand in hand we'll go
12:43through love's promised land in all our lives, I know.
12:48Believe me.
12:53Happiness would be ours if but only
12:56Three hours on a desert island in my dreams.
13:18Strolling beside you hand in hand we'll go
13:23through love's promised land in all our lives, I know.
13:27Sincerely.
13:33Every gal and guy can have the desert island
13:38if they are in love as much as we.
13:42Happiness would be ours if but only
13:46Three hours on a desert island in my dreams.
13:54On a desert island in my dreams.
14:16Thank you.
14:36From the bottom of my heart.
14:38That was reality, right?
14:41I'll tell you how Dick and I found out about that kind of reality.
14:44We work late at night.
14:46From the prime time, you know, we don't get any good movies.
14:49When we get home it's about 11 o'clock, 11.15.
14:51And the best we hope to get is the truck driver's special, right?
14:54Which, you know, with the further truck drivers get in at 4 o'clock in the morning
14:57there's always something happening.
14:59Wendell Corey or some artist.
15:03So we had to watch all the movies, the Dan Daly, Betty Grable movies.
15:06And we learned what life was all about through these movies.
15:12For instance, I keep trying, you know, but the porter never picks up on it.
15:16At Grand Central Station I go in with a baggage claim, right?
15:18And I lay it down and I say, yeah, double-aught 419.
15:23See, because in the movie I saw he picked it up and he went,
15:25double-aught 419, double-aught 419.
15:29And 15 porters came out of the woodwork.
15:33And a big backdrop dropped down.
15:34And Benny Goodman band just happened to be passing through.
15:38But it never happens for me.
15:41That ain't no baggage claim.
15:43That's just a number on a piece of paper.
15:44Want to try to pull something?
15:47So Dick and I made a vow.
15:49We decided that we wouldn't watch those movies anymore
15:52because obviously they weren't real.
15:53We'd turn in early, get a lot of sleep,
15:57and get up at 7.30 in the morning and watch the cartoons.
16:01Because there's more reality and violence and vulgarity in cartoons
16:04than there is anywhere else.
16:06Have you watched the kids' show?
16:07Right.
16:08See, they're very smart.
16:09They put them on at 7.30
16:10because they know you're not going to get up at 7.30
16:12or 6 o'clock, right?
16:14But the kids will, right?
16:15And they sit there and they get hard sold.
16:18For instance, in the States,
16:20a hero might be,
16:22they would take a commercial product
16:24and name a hero after it.
16:26For instance, in the States it would be Captain M&M.
16:28Here it would be Captain Smarties, right?
16:30It's the same, you know, thin candy shell with a heart of gold.
16:33You know, that kind of hero.
16:35And they would run a program like this.
16:36While you're asleep, right?
16:37Hi, kids!
16:39It's time for another exciting adventure of...
16:41Captain Smarties!
16:44Yes, kids, join us now
16:45as our thin candy-shelled hero
16:47and his faithful companion, Billy Bitesize,
16:50travel through the evil pages of chocolate.
16:52As you recall, in our last exciting adventure,
16:54Captain Smarties and his faithful companion, Billy Bitesize,
16:57were traveling through the desert
16:58in Captain Smarties' Aston Martin DB5
17:00with the ejector seat.
17:02Naturally, Billy was nervous
17:03every time Captain Smarties shifted gears.
17:05Hey!
17:26Creepin' coins there, Captain Smarties.
17:28How many gears does this car have?
17:30123, Billy.
17:33What's the horsepower?
17:34Horsepower's 7 1⁄2.
17:37But I got a lot of mileage.
17:40Gee, it sure is hot out here on the desert, Captain Smarties.
17:42I don't see how you can stand it.
17:44This thin candy shell protects me, Billy.
17:47Well, where can I get a thin candy shell?
17:49$4.98 to me, Captain Smarties.
17:51Care of this program, kids.
17:54Oh, look, Captain Smarties.
17:55There's a little old gray-haired lady
17:56selling apples on the side of the road.
17:58Where? Oh, yeah.
18:00Ah!
18:02Captain Smarties!
18:04Captain Smarties, you ran right over
18:05that little old gray-haired lady.
18:07I know, I hate little old gray-haired ladies.
18:13Captain Smarties, the police are on our trail.
18:16This chocolate slick ought to take care of them.
18:23Will Captain Smarties escape the police?
18:25Gee, we hope so, don't we, kids,
18:26because police are bad people
18:27and always spoil our fun.
18:30We'll get back to the program in just a minute,
18:31but first a word from your old Uncle Ed.
18:33Hi, kids.
18:35Mommy and Daddy not around?
18:37This year, old Uncle Ed,
18:38you probably recall last year
18:39the sponsor of this program
18:40offered you for only $4.98
18:42your very own prehistoric reptile kit.
18:45Remember that, kids?
18:46Remember how fun that was
18:47when that brown paper package came in the mail
18:48and you opened it up
18:49and all them critters ran all over the living room?
18:51Remember the expression on Dad's face
18:53when he walked by and he got sucked in
18:55by a boa constrictor?
18:56Remember that?
18:57Well, we think we've outdone ourselves again this year, kids.
19:00We managed to get a hold of some live rifles,
19:02some hand grenades, a half-track, and a real tank.
19:05You can be the first kid in your neighborhood
19:07to blow it up.
19:09Picture the following scene.
19:10You're out in the backyard
19:11tossing a little plastic hand grenade
19:12back and forth with your friend Billy,
19:14and you whip out a real bazooka
19:15and blast a three-foot hole in his gut.
19:18Won't that be fun, kids?
19:21Now, maybe Mommy and Daddy are still smarting
19:23from the prehistoric reptile kit,
19:24or perhaps you haven't saved up $4.98.
19:27In that case, tiptoe into Mommy and Daddy's room.
19:30Take the little bag that Mommy carries on her purse,
19:32open it up, take all the silver
19:34and all the little pieces of paper
19:35and put it in an envelope
19:36and mail it to me, Uncle Ed,
19:37care of the station.
19:39And now for a preview of next week's exciting adventure.
19:45Creepin' corn syrup, Captain Smarties,
19:47what's next week's exciting adventure?
19:49We're gonna get some girls, Billy.
19:54Thanks.
20:24Must be the children that Moses led, to let my people go.
20:32By the altar dressed in red, must be the children that Moses led.
20:39Go tell it on the mountain, to let my people go.
20:46Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
20:53Go tell it on the mountain, to let my people go.
21:00Who's that young man dressed in white, to let my people go?
21:07Must be the children of Israel, to let my people go.
21:15Who's that young man dressed in white, must be the children of Israel.
21:22Go tell it on the mountain, to let my people go.
21:29Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
21:37Go tell it on the mountain, to let my people go.
21:44Who's that young man dressed in black, to let my people go?
21:51Must be the Hebrews turning back, to let my people go.
21:59Who's that young man dressed in black, must be the Hebrews turning back.
22:06Go tell it on the mountain, to let my people go.
22:12Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
22:19Go tell it on the mountain, to let my people go.
22:36You know it's hard to love another man's girlfriend.
23:03You can't see her when you want to, you gotta see her when you can.
23:08We may be fighting a losing battle, but having a lot of fun, trying to win.
23:19I thought it over, I thought it over, these points of view, from these points of view.
23:24Oh one way love, one way love, sure ain't no good for two.
23:29We may be fighting a losing battle, but having a lot of fun, trying to win.
23:40Here's my confession baby, I want you to take me.
23:51From this day on darling, you can do anything you please.
24:01I ask my baby, should I go away?
24:06Your man wants me to leave, and he want me to stay.
24:12We may be fighting a losing battle, but having a lot of fun, trying to win.
24:22Here's my confession baby, I want you to take me.
24:33From this day on darling, you can do anything you please.
24:43I ask my baby, should I go away?
24:48Your man wants me to leave, and he want me to stay.
24:53We may be fighting a losing battle, but having a lot of fun, trying to win.
25:03We may be fighting a losing battle, but having a lot of fun, trying to win.
25:13We may be fighting a losing battle, but having a wonderful time, I wish you were here.
25:43Hey, hey, my lord and lord, I'm a gonna buy three mockingbirds.
25:57One for to whistle, one for to sing, one for to do most any little thing.
26:04Children go where I send thee, how shall I send thee?
26:08Hey, hey, my lord and lord, well I'm gonna send thee three by three, three for the Hebrew.
26:15Children two for Paul and two for Silas, one for the little lady, baby that's born, born, born, born in Bethlehem.
26:26Hey, hey, my lord and lord, I'm a gonna buy three hunting dogs.
26:34One for to run, one for to shout, one for to talk to when I go out.
26:41Children go where I send thee, how shall I send thee?
26:45Hey, hey, my lord and lord, well I'm gonna send thee three by three, three for the little lady, baby that's born, born, born in Bethlehem.
27:03Hey, hey, my lord and lord, I'm a gonna buy three muley cows.
27:10One for to milk, one to plow my corn, one for to pray on Christmas morn.
27:17Children go where I send thee, how shall I send thee?
27:21Hey, hey, my lord and lord, well I'm gonna send thee three by three, three for the little lady, baby that's born, born, born in Bethlehem.
27:32Hey, hey, my lord and lord, well I'm gonna send thee three by three, three for the little lady, baby that's born, born, born in Bethlehem.
27:55Hey, hey, my lord and lord, I'm a gonna buy three little bluebirds.
28:04One for to eat, one for to mourn, one for to pray when I am gone.
28:13I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, oh you can't scare me.
28:29I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, till the day I sing it with me now.
28:37Oh you can't scare me, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the, I'm sticking to the union, oh you can't scare me.
28:49I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, till the day I die.
28:57Now there once was a union maid, and she never was afraid,
29:02Of the goons and the geeks and the company finks and the sheriff deputies.
29:06Made the raid, she went to the union hall, where a meeting it was called,
29:11And when the company boys came around, she always stood her ground.
29:16Oh you can't scare me, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, sing it now.
29:26Oh you can't scare me, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, till the day I die.
29:34One more time. Oh you can't scare me, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, oh you can't scare me.
29:47I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union, till the day I die.
29:55This is the one that has the suggestive lyrics, it goes,
29:58Oh, put it on the ground, spread it all around, dig it with a hoe, and it will make your flowers grow.
30:16Oh, put it on the ground, spread it all around, dig it with a hoe, and it will make your flowers grow.
30:40Oh, if you want a raise in pay, all you have to do, is go and ask the boss for it, and he will give it to you.
30:50Yes, he will give it to you, my friends, he will give it to you.
30:55A raise in pay without delay, he will give it to you.
31:01Oh, put it on the ground, spread it all around, dig it with a hoe, and it will make your flowers grow.
31:20Oh, the men who own the industries, they own no bonds and stocks.
31:25They own no gems and limousines, the gems the size of rocks.
31:30They own no big estates with pools, or silk and DVDs.
31:35Because they pay the working man such fancy salaries.
31:41Oh, put it on the ground, spread it all around, dig it with a hoe, and it will make your flowers grow.
31:59One more time now, put it on the ground, spread it all around, dig it with a hoe, and it will make your flowers grow.
32:14And last, there is a song about a man who represents bigotry, and he is called Mr. Bigot.
32:23Well, instead of singing the words, unless you know the song or can remember them quickly, you just sing like this.
32:45And you just sing that while I sing words.
32:47try to sing words. It may be difficult for you to do, but if you have to make a choice,
32:54don't listen to me, just la-la, okay?
32:57La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
33:04La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
33:10Once again now, listen Mr. Bigot, listen to me
33:14I'll give you a lesson in history
33:17Listen while I tell you that the far-weather's changed
33:20For the very same people made America
33:23Now listen
33:25Now in 1492, just to see what he could see
33:29Columbus, an Italian, set out across the sea
33:32He said, Isabella, baby, the world is round
33:35The USA's just a-waitin' to be found
33:38La, listen Mr. Bigot, listen to me
33:42I'll give you a lesson in history
33:45Listen while I tell you that the far-weather's changed
33:48For the very same people made America
33:51Great, Bigot, you're takin' a hell of a chance
33:55Your good friends, the Duponts, came over from France
33:59Another thing I'm sure will be news to you
34:02The first Mr. Bigot was a foreigner too, yeah
34:06Now listen Mr. Bigot, listen to me
34:09I'll give you a lesson in history
34:12Listen while I tell you that the far-weather's changed
34:15For the very same people made America
34:18Great, la-la, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
34:22Let me hear you, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
34:26La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
34:29La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
34:33Now, you don't like Negroes, you don't like Jews
34:38If there's anything that you do like, it sure is news
34:41You don't like Poles, Italians, Catholics too
34:45Dead or alive, but we don't like you
34:48Now listen Mr. Bigot, listen to me
34:51I'll give you a lesson in history
34:55Listen while I tell you that the far-weather's changed
34:58For the very same people made America
35:01Great, la-la, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:04La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:07La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:10La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:13La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:16La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:20La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
35:34That's what you get for loving me
35:44That's what you get for loving me
35:50Everything you had is gone as you can see
35:57That's what you get for loving me
36:02I ain't the kind to hang around
36:07With any new love that I've found
36:12Moving is my stopping train
36:16I'm moving on
36:20I won't think of you when I'm gone
36:25So don't you shed a tear for me
36:30I ain't the love you thought I'd be
36:35I've got a hundred more like you
36:39So don't you
36:43I'll have a thousand for I'm through
36:48Now there you go, you're crying again
36:53Now there you go, you're crying again
36:58And then someday when your poor heart is on the mend
37:05I just might pass this way again
37:10That's what you get for loving me
37:15That's what you get for loving me
37:20Everything you had is gone as you can see
37:27That's what you get for loving me
37:33That's what you get for loving me
37:54On the streets of Madison Avenue, New York City
37:59There's a very particular type of individual which may pass you by, who's dressed in a
38:03Formica suit and a Formica hat, Formica shoes, and he's shook, shook, shook, shook, shook,
38:11shook.
38:12The little key in the back, they wind up, and he walks in through the elevator door
38:16up to his office, and there, in his office, under the most private of circumstances, he
38:24delves into the most meaningful points in our life, the things that could possibly save
38:30us all.
38:32For instance, which objects on the cover of magazines are most eye appealing?
38:40And he does, in fact, do these things.
38:43As a matter of fact, one study showed that the most popular thing on the cover of a magazine
38:50was, of course, a woman.
38:52The second most popular thing was a baby.
38:56The third most popular thing was a dog.
38:59One tends to wonder if this is the natural order of things in America, right?
39:02I mean, where are we, right?
39:06In any event, he puts this information into an IBM machine, and comes up with an answer,
39:17and the answer is, for the most marketable research song, a song that will go into the
39:23homes and hearts and minds of America, he has to combine these categories.
39:28Well, of course, he can't even handle the first category, he has total incapacity to
39:32deal with women.
39:34The second two categories, however, he can deal with, and he puts them together, figuratively
39:39speaking, of course, and comes up with a children's song about dogs.
40:09Oh, blue come when I blow my horn, oh, blue come when I blow my horn, blue come a-runnin'
40:25through the yellow corn, blue come a-runnin' when I blow my horn, singin' hee, oh, blue,
40:35you're a good dog, you.
40:39Now, this song, as it stands, lacks something, it lacks light, for one thing, and the market
40:49research man really doesn't know what to do, I mean, here, here, he put all, everything
40:51through the IBM machine, and he hasn't come up with a hit, so he goes back to the IBM
40:54machine, and puts himself into the IBM machine, and he comes out with the answer, and he casually
41:04opens the door to his office, steps out into the elevator, rides up to the 27th floor,
41:13steps out, walks over to his boss's office, boss, I've found the answer.
41:25What is it?
41:29We have forgotten nothing else than a liberal sprinkling of rolling stone-itis.
41:34Oh, really?
41:39Says the hip, aware, swinging mad as an avenue bus.
41:43Well, let's see, what do we have now?
41:47We have a children's song about dogs that are stoned?
41:551, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
42:01I've got a dog and his skin is blue.
42:04Well, that's fine, I don't need a good dog, you.
42:15Doggy, doggy, doggy, my sweet little dog, my cute little dog.
42:20Bow-wow-wow, well, well, well, well, well.
42:28Well, Blue, why did you leave me?
42:34You promised to write.
42:36I sit alone at night now, sifting sand through my fingers, looking for some trace of you.
42:45Come back, Blue. I... I... I want you.
42:50I... I... I... I need you.
43:02Beth, I'm going to have you.
43:15Thank you.
43:39We'd like to ask you, please, to sing the last line of this song.
43:44The last line that occurs in every verse with us.
43:46Sing it softly and join with us, please.
44:07How many roads must a man walk down
44:13before they call him a man?
44:20How many seas must a white dove sail
44:26before she sleeps in the sand?
44:33How many times must the cannonball splat
44:39before they're forever banned?
44:46The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.
44:53The answer is blowin' in the wind.
45:00How many years must a mountain exist
45:06before it is washed to the sea?
45:14How many years can some people exist
45:20before they're allowed to be free?
45:27How many times can a man turn his head
45:33and pretend that he just doesn't see?
45:41The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.
45:48The answer is blowin' in the wind.
45:54How many times must a man look up
46:00before he can see the sky?
46:08How many years must one man have
46:14before he can hear people cry?
46:22How many deaths will it take till he knows
46:28that too many people have died?
46:35The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.
46:42The answer is blowin' in the wind.
46:47The answer is blowin' in the wind.
46:55The answer is blowin' in the wind.
47:02Come gather round, people, wherever you roam
47:18and admit that the waters around you have grown
47:23and accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone.
47:29If your time to you is overstated
47:34then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone
47:40for the times, they are a-changin'.
47:48Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen
47:55and keep your eyes wide, the chance won't come again
48:01and don't speak too soon, for the wheel's still in spin
48:07and there's no telling who that is namin'.
48:13For the loser now will be later to win
48:18for the times, they are a-changin'.
48:26Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call
48:33don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
48:39for he that gets hurt will be he who has dolled.
48:45There's a battle outside and it's ragin'
48:50it'll soon shake your windows and razzle your walls
48:56for the times, they are a-changin'.
49:03Come mothers and fathers throughout the land
49:16and don't criticize what you can't understand
49:22your sons and your daughters are beyond your command
49:29your old road is rapidly aging
49:34please get out of the new one if you can
49:38blend your hands for the times, they are a-changin'.
49:48The light it is strong, the curse it is cast
49:55the slow one now will later be past
50:01and the present now will later be past
50:07the order is rapidly fading
50:12and the first one now will later be last
50:18for the times, they are a-changin'.
