00:00A visit to Nollendorfplatz.
00:05The gay scene has long been established here in Schöneberg.
00:08My colleague Robin is going to show us around today.
00:10Robin and I are good friends.
00:12He's better known as the drag artist Carly Kant.
00:15Hi, hello.
00:16Hi.
00:17How are you?
00:18All good?
00:19So now we are in Schöneberg.
00:20We are in the middle of Mottstraße and this is the conventionally gay center of Berlin.
00:26It was especially famous from like the 70s or 80s, you know, when Berlin was still divided.
00:33And this was really like the big scene was going on here.
00:36David Bowie was living here at the time.
00:38So yeah, it's the old school center.
00:41I think we should walk around the block and I'll show you some stuff.
00:45A typical street here has queer bookstores, sex clubs, the sex clubs restaurant right
00:50next door and more sex clubs.
00:57And let's not forget the appropriate theater shop.
01:01You see, the queer community in Berlin is pretty big, but it still needs safe spaces.
