00:00I'm Dave Thistleden and I'm the president of the Canberra Caribbean Poultry Club.
00:06Last year we had over 600 birds to our show with the local fanciers,
00:13but it's just too much of a risk to have a show at this time
00:19because there's some of our members that have over 50 years of breeding in their birds
00:24and we just don't want to risk them.
00:26If the flu got in it, it'd be devastation.
00:29You wouldn't be able to get these back into Australia
00:33because a lot of them are in Victoria already
00:39and it's just very, very hard to source them now
00:43and if we had my flock wiped out it'd be just devastating
00:47and we wouldn't be able to replace them.
00:50These chooks mean the life to me.
00:54To be able to take a rare breed that's come into Australia in 2015
01:00and keep working on them.
01:02They've still got to get a little bigger yet,
01:04but we're just working on them
01:06and it's great to get a rare breed up and running in Australia.
01:10We love what we do.
01:14We just love what we do.
