00:00So I think really devastating night, obviously devastating result, but those people who voted
00:05reform that night have to look at what was achieved by it.
00:08And actually what they did was they offered Labour an even bigger majority in government.
00:13This huge majority that is going to, well, it's going to have huge consequences for people's
00:17bank balances.
00:19It's going to have a huge consequence for immigration in this country.
00:23What was achieved by voting reform on Thursday?
00:25You gave Labour a bigger majority and the consequences for this country and for immigration
00:29are going to be very, very real.
00:31I think it's important that we learn the lessons of this election.
00:35I also think that we, well, the big issues that have gone on today around immigration,
00:40we need to know what's going to happen on that front.
00:42We need to take an offering to the British public that they can believe and get behind
00:46and solve what is a huge problem for this country and a problem that's only going to
00:49get bigger with a Labour administration.
00:52We need to see what the approach to the economy is.
00:55Actually the economy has turned a corner when we look at what's happened on inflation, when
00:57we look at the fact that we had the biggest growth in the G7 recently, things started
01:02to move the right way on the economy.
01:04We need to see what their offering is on all of those fronts.
01:07We need somebody who can communicate well with the public.
01:10Members will inevitably have a really important say in the selection of our leader.
01:15They always have and they always will have a say, and backbench MPs will also have a
01:19say in deciding who it is that gets to take this party forwards and takes the fight back
01:24to Labour and to the country.
