00:00I'm outside a polling station in what is the first constituency of
00:04Paris and we've been inside and spoken to the staff who say 35% have
00:10voted, which is fairly high. That also tallies with a very high figure we
00:15got from the Ministry of the Interior at lunchtime, 26.63% voted in the
00:20first four hours. That is up about 0.7% on the same time last week. This
00:26increase between the first and second round also tallies with things we
00:30are hearing at this polling station. The staff who are in charge of
00:33crossing names off the list, said they have crossed names off the list
00:36this week that were not crossed off last week. In other words, people
00:39who did not vote in the first round are mobilised for the second. There
00:43are also a few national indicators that suggest this is a high turnout
00:47election. 460,000 votes cast by those constituents in the French voters
00:53abroad constituencies, as well as a record number of proxies registered
00:59to vote on the behalf of those who could not make it today. There is
01:02proof that this is an election the French people are far from
01:05indifferent to.
