00:00Hey hey, it's Katie here, and today is day 2 of exploring Bangkok.
01:01So it's a Sunday, I've just had 2 days doing a work conference, and today we checked out
01:07of the work conference hotel and moved to a different hotel over at, it's called the
01:14X2 Vibe Hotel, it's near On Nut Station. Check-in's not for another hour, so we thought we would
01:19pop to a nearby market and just get some food. I started off with some drinks, I'm not entirely
01:25sure what these drinks are, I pointed to an orange one and a red one, hoping it was
01:30orange and strawberry, but I think it's just kind of like a juice syrup thing with water.
01:39Mmm, it tastes really nice actually. If you haven't been watching us for a while, we actually
01:44live in China, and we live in northern China in a place called Tianjin, so at the moment
01:48in February it's minus the weather, it's horrifically cold, it snowed a few weeks ago, it's really
01:54cold, so it's a big change coming here and it's like 30 degrees and I'm sweating, but
02:00it's a nice welcoming, it's a welcoming warmth. So in this little market there's like these
02:05little stalls just inside and behind me, they have all different types of food, I thought
02:10I'd kind of point and head to the best, they kind of did have some loose translation, so
02:14one of the dishes have just come, it is a chicken and rice dish with garlic, it smells
02:20pretty good though. Mmm, you can taste that garlic, but the sauce is really nice, I like
02:34it. So we've also ordered some sautéed vegetables with Easter sauce, they smell amazing, and
02:41we've also got a pad thai, I love pad thai, I'm a big lover of pad thai, and I'm always
02:47too boring, but I love pad thai. Mmm, that's nice, there's a bit of a kick to it, I think
03:05there might be lemongrass in there or something, there's like a flavour of lemongrass but there's
03:09a bit of a kick to it as well. So we've got like noodles, I think there might be a little
03:14bit of everything in there, noodles, chicken, like nuts, and beansprouts and onion, and
03:19a bit of lime to squeeze on top of it. Mmm, quite delicious, it's really peanutty, I like
03:30it.
03:45Right, so we've just finished lunch and checked into our hotel, I really enjoyed lunch, it
03:50was really nice. Last time we came to Thailand, I really didn't eat that much street food
03:55at all, I was really cautious about getting sick and stuff like that. I guess living in
03:59China has kind of taught me to be a bit more adventurous with my food choices. Anyway,
04:05I really enjoyed that food, it was really really lovely. So yes, we've just checked
04:09into our hotel, we're staying at the X2 Hotel, or the Cross 2 Vibe Hotel, just off Succumbit
04:15Road, near the On Nut Station. It's a really nice room, it's really spacious, it's got
04:20a cool little balcony, and it's got some really funky pillows as well. So we're going to relax
04:25here for a bit, and then go and see a bit more of the local area I think.
04:39Right, so we are here, I'm not entirely sure what we found. We decided to explore near
04:55our hotel this evening, because we obviously moved hotels today, and kind of the point
05:00of our visit to Bangkok is to explore some of the more residential areas and see what
05:05there is other than the big tourist sites, because we'd already been to the tourist sites
05:09last time we were here. So we walked along the Succumbit Road, and literally just outside
05:14of On Nut Station, opposite the Tesco's, there is a place, I think it's called the Corner
05:1979, and it's got a really nice area. You can sit down and have a drink, and they have a
05:24little food market, and you can go and get some food. It's a bit like the W District
05:28that we found the other day, but it's a little bit smaller. It has a lovely little, what
05:32would you call it, lake? A pond maybe? I'm not sure. It's a nice little area.
06:03So I have ordered us some food. I have got some chicken skewers. These are about 20 baht,
06:11and they look amazing. And I've also ordered some pork satays. I really love pork satay.
06:17In the UK, whenever we go to a Thai restaurant, I have pork satays. You can't really find
06:21them. Even in Thai restaurants in China, you can't find pork satays. So I'm excited to
06:25try them. Mmm. Mmm. It's got a really lovely sauce on it. I think it's like barbecue. I
06:36think it's just barbecue, but it's really nice. I'm going to go and try a carrot, I
06:40reckon. So I've also got some pork satays, which is in my peanut butter sauce.
06:45Mmm. It's really tender. Hashtag. So meaty. It's really thin, but so tender. It's really
07:01good. Right, so we've ordered a few more bits of food. Now I have got some prawns. They
07:06were grilled prawns. I don't know if they've got anything on them, but we'll see. So that's
07:10the end of our evening here in Bangkok. I really enjoyed our meal here this evening.
07:15I would definitely recommend finding these little cold on the wall type places. It's
07:19really nice. It's really cheap. So I had a lovely day today. If you like this video,

07:27next time, bye.
07:29Does anyone else do this when the sun comes up, or is it just me?
