00:13Taz, what a moment it was this past Sunday night
00:16at Forbidden Door.
00:18Mercedes Manet successfully became double champion,
00:22the TBS Champion, New Japan Strong Women's Champion,
00:26but did not have long to celebrate
00:28as Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, returning on the scene.
00:32Yeah, Britt made her presence known directly in the face
00:36of Mercedes for sure in Mercedes' moment.
00:39But that's how the good doctor does it.
00:42She picks her spots.
00:43Haven't seen her in a while,
00:44but it's great for us to see her again here.
00:47Our old friend Tony Schiavone, key word's old.
00:50You take me to it.
00:51I think that's what I do.
00:52Ha ha.
00:55All right, see you later, Tony.
00:56Take care, Schiavone.
00:56Bye-bye.
00:57-♪
01:10Damn, I missed you guys.
01:12-♪
01:15I thought way too long, way too hard
01:18about what I was going to say my first interview back,
01:22and then I said, Britt, shut the hell up, stop thinking.
01:24So I'm just going to talk to you, if that's okay.
01:27-♪
01:32I'm going to talk to you about three things that we all have,
01:37and that's a past, a present, and a future.
01:41Our past is our lesson.
01:44Our present is a gift.
01:48And our future is our motivation.
01:52Let's start with the past.
01:55For the last 10 months,
01:59I'm sure a lot of you have been wondering, where's Britt?
02:02-♪
02:06And any time that question was asked,
02:08the answer was given, she's injured.
02:13Yeah, but I think you guys know me by now
02:16to know that it would take more than a couple herniated discs
02:20and a torn hip labrum to keep me away from this place.
02:24Back in November, physically, yeah, I was banged up,
02:28and mentally, I was probably running on empty.
02:32But every time I looked myself in the mirror,
02:34I said, I'm good.
02:37Until one day, I wasn't.
02:43Because one day, I started feeling really sick.
02:50And the room was spinning, my vision was blurry,
02:55and my right arm was tingling and numb,
02:58and it was, something didn't feel right,
03:00but I looked at myself in the mirror, and I said, I'm good.
03:04I tried to open a bottle of water, and I couldn't.
03:10And my entire right side stopped working.
03:17To sum this story up, I spent a week in the hospital
03:21with a diagnosis of a TIA, which is a transient ischemic attack.
03:26And the doctors explained that to me as an instance
03:31when your brain is not getting enough blood for that moment,
03:35and it is a major warning sign for a stroke,
03:38so much that they call it a mini-stroke.
03:41And at that moment, I looked myself in the mirror,
03:44and I said, Brit, you are not good.
03:48And I told Tony, I need to stay home.
03:52I need to get myself right.
03:54And he said, OK, Brit, let me know when you're good.
03:58Let's jump to the present.
04:04I'm here, I'm cleared, and I'm healthy.
04:07Let's jump to the present.
04:13I'm here, I'm cleared, and I'm healthy.
04:21But I have to be honest with you guys.
04:25In my entire professional wrestling career,
04:27I was never more nervous than I was Sunday night
04:31at Forbidden Door.
04:32And you're probably wondering why.
04:33All you did was stand at the top of the ramp, Brit.
04:36But I was never more unsure of myself.
04:40I never doubted myself more.
04:43Because I didn't know if anyone was
04:45going to give a damn that I was about to walk
04:47through that tunnel.
04:48I love you, Brit.
04:53And you're cheering right now because you all
04:55have felt that.
04:56You have felt the fear of rejection.
04:59And it's irrational, but it's persistent as hell.
05:02And the fear of rejection is often
05:04worse than the rejection itself.
05:07But vulnerability is showing up even when we have no control
05:11over what's going to happen.
05:13And Sunday night at Forbidden Door,
05:15when I needed professional wrestling,
05:18when I needed all elite wrestling, when I needed you,
05:27you welcomed me back with open arms and D&D chants.
05:36And for that, I will always, always be in your corner.
05:43Because at the end of the day, I'm one of you.
05:47And I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
05:49Let's go to the future now, which is your motivation.
05:52And I'm going to leave you with this.
05:55When you are going through a hard time,
05:59go through that shit.
06:01Be present and feel all of it.
06:03Because if you do, it's going to make it that much better when
06:07you get to the other side.
06:08And you will.
06:09We all will.
06:12Because we all possess the impulse to be elite.
06:20And speaking of elite, I have to bring this up.
06:25Because I heard we have a new female face
06:30of all elite wrestling.
06:32I am.
06:33I am.
06:35And it must be so rewarding for her
06:40to be able to call herself that after shedding blood, sweat,
06:46and tears in this very ring and building this company
06:50from the ground up.
06:52That must feel great for her, right?
06:53D.F. D.F. D.F.
06:58And CEO.
07:01Those three letters, I'm sure she worked so hard
07:05and studied for over a decade to earn those three letters.
07:09And it is honestly brilliant to manipulate
07:12three letters and it is honestly brilliant to manipulate your fan base to
07:17chant those three letters by piping them in your entrance music.
07:25But guys, I don't think we need music to tell our new friend.
07:34The only three letters that matter in this company are D-
07:39E-M-P.
07:49We just want to say congratulations, double champion.
08:17You're a CEO that we could actually get behind.
08:20How about that, huh?
08:21Hey, your championship celebration is ready.
08:24Ooh, let's go.
08:26Go get it, champion.
08:27All right, guys, get the ring ready.
08:29Get the props going.
08:29Let's go.
08:31Come on.
08:32Keep it up.
08:33Get to work.
08:34Let's go.
08:34Keep the action going.
08:35Keep the energy, everybody.
08:36Let's go.
08:37Let's have a great show.
08:41Wow, where would we be without Matthew and Nicholas Jackson?
08:44I'm looking off the monitor here and I think that's what's happened.
08:47They're bringing out the balloons and the-
08:50Yeah, well, somebody's in the ring.
08:52Come on now.
08:52The championship celebration apparently is going to begin while Britt Baker's still in the ring.
08:59This is bogus, but this is typical EVP stuff.
09:05Yeah, that's definitely disrespectful to our returning Britt Baker, who's a former
09:10AEW Women's World Champion.
09:12She's an original here and AEW Foundation tournament winner.
09:14Day one, Britt.
09:16Yeah.
09:16And who not that long ago, her career was in jeopardy, as you heard.
09:21Well, there is Mercedes.
09:23That's not to take anything away from Mercedes Benet, who this past Sunday at Forbidden Door
09:27had an incredible battle with Stephanie Van Gurn.
09:30And there you see Mercedes as the TBS champion and the Japan Strong Women's Champion.
09:37And you know what I like about this, Xcalibur?
09:39Britt's not moving.
09:41She's holding her ground through all of this.
09:44And I guess Mercedes thought she would just leave and give the ring to Mercedes.
09:49Yeah, that's not how Britt is.
09:50She's feisty, but so is Mercedes, so let's see how this thing evolves.
10:09TBS! TBS! TBS! TBS! TBS!
10:29Um, oops.
10:33Britt, did I interrupt something?
10:37Because Chicago!
10:43It's time to celebrate with your double champion, Mercedes Benet.
10:55I get it.
10:57I outshined your moment at Forbidden Door, so now you're trying to outshine mine.
11:05Britt, what you do is so irrelevant to me.
11:08But if you want to talk about Forbidden Door, let's talk about it.
11:11The place, the pay-per-view I made famous when I became double champion.
11:20You know, Britt, I should have known you would try to come out here and steal my spotlight.
11:26Chicago! Chicago! Chicago! Chicago!
11:35But unlike Chicago and like you, I want you to get a real good look at what a real star looks like.
11:50All in. All in, Mercedes.
11:56I wrestled at the first all in right here in Chicago.
12:03I was the first female to go all in on All Elite Wrestling by signing my name on that contract.
12:14I wrestled at All In last year at Wembley Stadium when your ass was looking like a broken bitch with a broken leg in the stands.
12:29So I want to face you at All In.
12:41Whoa!
12:46Britt, I'm never broke. I stay rich.
12:52And since I am a double champion, there is a long list of girls who are waiting in the back.
12:58So you need to get in the back of the line, bitch.
13:10Bitch, what line?
13:19Well, I see you're a fan, so you obviously know what I'm going to say next.
13:25There's a price to pay when you mess with Mercedes' money.
13:36Wow. That thing got hot real quick.
13:42This is going to be a very interesting situation to watch develop.
13:50But fans, let's take you back to this Sunday at Forbidden Door, a pivotal moment in our main event.
