00:04:15yeah
00:04:29oh
00:04:45oh
00:04:50uh attention sarawak police we've got a report of a shark attack off palomino island please
00:04:56investigate calling dispatch this is officer sterling we are approaching palomino island
00:05:15hello
00:05:19anyone here
00:05:25there should be six people on this boat maybe they're diving
00:05:34no i don't think
00:05:40does it work let's see
00:05:45yeah
00:05:49oh wait wait wait go back did you see that go back that
00:05:58what the hell
00:06:02you better call search and rescue now six people don't disappear just like that copy
00:06:15so
00:06:32this may have convinced me to become a vegetarian as well oh i love vegetarians
00:06:38it tastes great bon appetit oh here we go
00:06:42oh oh god well at the sun i didn't kill the fish
00:06:52and they are filled with plastic they eventually starve to death way to go world
00:07:04i don't even want to know to think humans produce almost 300 million tons of this stuff
00:07:12too bad it's not nutritious that's actually not a bad idea
00:07:17nutritious edible plastic paddling already pending all right guys that's mine
00:07:22dr yost these fine officers were hoping to ask you a few questions something about a shark
00:07:28sure um let me just clean up
00:07:31uh
00:07:38well what why me let's go come on oh thanks
00:07:53so to what do i owe the pleasure officers they're here investigating the missing people on that yacht
00:08:01okay i'm not sure that i can help but go for it we believe this was a shark attack do you know how
00:08:09many shark attacks there have been in puerto rico 11 and no one's died of a shark attack since 1924
00:08:17i find it highly unlikely sharks are dwindling in oceans everywhere yeah yeah we know they're
00:08:22not here for a lecture dr yost i was hoping that maybe you can help me with this i found this camera
00:08:28on the boat people disappeared we believe this is a great white give me a break great
00:08:35whites don't just kill people on boats what's next they fly through tornadoes
00:08:45oh it's odd can a shark like this exist
00:08:53we've had multiple sightings of some sort of i think what captain sterling is trying to ask is
00:08:59is it possible for a shark to have more than one head or is this just a shark frenzy
00:09:07most likely the latter there have been reports of sharks with multiple heads i've heard of two and
00:09:12even three-headed sharks but shark attacks are very rare here so i wouldn't expect another one
00:09:17did you say multiple sightings yeah we receive a few calls this is a joke actually um
00:09:26it's not at all impossible
00:09:35there have been hundreds if not thousands of instances of animals with more than one head
00:09:40here's an actual two-headed shark but it only lived a few hours also in mythology take for
00:09:46example cerberus cerberus cerberus was the gigantic two-headed hound of hades who guarded
00:09:53the gates of the underworld and prevented the escape of the shades of the dead i mean it could
00:09:57be this is just ridiculous laughable i mean a species like this couldn't even exist with
00:10:02multiple heads as far as i can tell these are digital distortions on the image or
00:10:07should we call them myths or or simply photoshop yeah but no buts this is just not possible
00:10:15correct doctor
00:10:23i have to agree it's very unlikely
00:10:27well anyway um thank you for your time thank you appreciate it good luck
00:10:46so
00:11:03hey dr yo how's it looking out here why are we going out again
00:11:08the aquarium's future my future our futures
00:11:11what's he talking about dr yo oh she didn't tell you
00:11:19tell us what we're gonna catch the shark everyone's hunting
00:11:25that's right what here she goes watch this shut up ram is this for real
00:11:33we're supposed to catch a shark seriously
00:11:35dr yo i'm so sorry my hands are tied i was just gonna tell you guys we can't actually do that
00:11:42kelly technically technically it falls under the purview of don't ask don't tell and we're all okay
00:11:49with that right because if you're not you can say goodbye to this job this opportunity and your
00:11:54futures you could have gone about this a different way you didn't have to put out a press release
00:12:01could have gone about this a different way you didn't have to put out a press release
00:12:05what way would that have been the right way dr yo i'm not here to mince words
00:12:13okay we need a shark and what better than a killer great white shark and we need it now
00:12:18it's no secret the aquarium is suffering and the only way we're going to stay afloat
00:12:22is if we can get a big exhibit otherwise we're done it's that simple
00:12:26get the kids what they want something different right shark i mean anyone can get a snorkel and
00:12:33a pair of fins and see 80 of the species we got in that aquarium but a shark that sells tickets
00:12:44besides it's conservation you can study it we could rid the ocean of this danger if we don't
00:12:50do it it'll be droves of poachers killing dozens of sharks i mean that'd be horrible
00:12:57so everyone you're either in or you're out and if you're out i'd ask you to step off the boat now
00:13:11okay good let's head out
00:13:20so
00:13:29so
00:13:42bait's all set cameras batteries bait all set and check the feet on the gopro
00:13:53lindsay good on your monitor yeah
00:14:00i don't like this i don't even think it's legal yeah me neither
00:14:05anything nothing not even a guppy you have anything linds no that could be a good thing
00:14:15sharks they tend to scare other animals when they're around there's like nothing here
00:14:21yeah she's right i don't see anything
00:14:22i mean no fish no crustaceans not even a snail not that surprised where it is the
00:14:31coral's dying because of the cyanide being used by the fishermen for the
00:14:35fish for aquarium trade aren't we kind of complicit in that now
00:14:39hey son throw it in like you got a pair okay
00:14:53i wish we had a little dog or something
00:14:57you know that'd really get the beast belly rolling are you serious that's messed up
00:15:04i'm just kidding are you
00:15:08so
00:15:18so
00:15:28hey guys we've got to see something right there
00:15:41what is it i don't know but look like a fin game on rem you got anything nothing
00:15:47so guys guys i thought i saw something i went away anybody anybody see anything
00:16:04don't see nothing on the video maybe we should get the nuts
00:16:17so
00:16:30i think it's under the boat
00:16:48so
00:17:10oh my god
00:17:17yes
00:17:48so
00:18:07vr aquarium we're headed back in we've had an accident one fatality
00:18:18so
00:18:25there's nothing we could have done i know but why why him
00:18:35the ocean is a beautiful place but it can also be a dangerous place we all knew that
00:18:40he grew up out there
00:19:11so
00:19:22i'm sorry thanks thanks
00:19:34hi
00:19:36hi
00:19:39we're very sorry for what happened but we need to confirm a few things if you don't mind
00:19:46it wasn't a shark but it was it was shaped like a starfish it had four heads
00:19:55i couldn't tell it all happened so fast multiple heads shaped like a starfish
00:20:03do you think they're gonna say anything about are you kidding me
00:20:08one of our team just died that's what you're worried about just asking a question i know
00:20:15it sounds ridiculous we know what we saw that thing killed sean you mean something like this
00:20:33i think you need to take a good look at your priorities my priorities are exactly where they
00:20:37need to be it's sad that we lost one of our own but the show must go on as they say
00:20:48thank you
00:20:49i want you to go back out there but i'm not putting myself or any more of my team in danger
00:21:04especially for whatever that was whatever it was it is worth millions
00:21:13i'm not gonna do it oh yes you are and you do it with a smile
00:21:19this is your chance to study one of nature's most interesting anomalies
00:21:25attic now go get us our marquee attraction
00:21:36so the first attack was here and this is where the aquarium intern got killed yeah that's two
00:21:43attacks in two days we should consider shutting everything down no no no that's impossible um
00:21:51what about if we put a warning sign you know i'm gonna talk to the chief about posting a reward
00:21:57yeah yeah
00:22:14so
00:22:21all right reel it in there
00:22:31you see it looks like a shark fin
00:22:34all right
00:22:42fall down
00:23:04so what do you say no way i'm not going back out there you're kidding right
00:23:10sean just died come on team we're talking about a once in a lifetime discovery right in our own
00:23:16backyard don't you want to be a part of history
00:23:25and before somebody out there kills it
00:23:31do you really think sean would want you to just give up
00:23:40no i don't think so and if we make a new discovery we can name it after sean as a
00:23:47tribute to his passion and his sacrifice what do you say dr young you can't lie to them sir
00:23:55they're not children he wants to catch this thing yes a multi-headed shark or a new species
00:24:06either way we all win by catching it there's no way a shark like that could survive to maturity
00:24:10have you seen one before studied one for that matter no so what's to say it's not impossible
00:24:19that what we saw out there wasn't an isolated incident there could be more hundreds maybe
00:24:25thousands an entirely new species and we're the ones who saw it and we're the ones who can have
00:24:35it ask yourselves what would sean want you just want to display it put it in your aquarium we
00:24:43can't do that can we dr yo catching it for the sake of making money no but bringing it in for
00:24:59research yes whatever it was that killed sean we have to study it think of it as vengeance for your
00:25:11friend by taking this beast out of its element you could have a once in a lifetime chance to
00:25:18study an amazing specimen okay okay let's say we do this how do we even propose we kill this thing
00:25:41i hope you know what you're doing dr yos trust me if anyone knows how to catch something like this
00:25:53it's red hey red red yo yo yo dr yo get over here give me a hug okay please put me down put me down
00:26:08thank you so you two know each other
00:26:13yeah we used to do um research together yeah i think they get it um can you just tell them how
00:26:20you think we can catch the shark yeah we're going to use sonar okay if the shark's as big as you
00:26:24said it is it'll be easy to find sharks all they do is they eat and they get it on so
00:26:29pretty simple creatures they're not creatures they're classified under the clouds like a morphia
00:26:35yeah it's like a morphia she's right you're a shark hunter among other things
00:26:41aqua adventures and uh water sports you know
00:26:47so you're gonna go out on a boat like that yeah i was planning on it why do you ask
00:26:53if you're cool and getting blood and guts all over you that's fine you just ubu okay
00:27:00you ready to go kill this shark or what um
00:27:05well it's not just any shark it's already killed seven people that we know of one of them was our
00:27:11friend oh man sorry to hear that
00:27:23no um he was with us and uh this thing kind of has multiple heads four actually
00:27:35be oh you almost have your foreheads
00:27:41seriously yeah
00:27:45uh well i guess it'll be uh four times of fun but we want to take it alive take it alive
00:27:53try to take it alive killing them is one thing of bringing them home alive that's a whole nother
00:27:57bucket of chum guys we were kind of hoping to keep this under the radar so to say we the
00:28:03aquarium has a vested interest in finding out what this beast actually is
00:28:08yeah i get it but i'm willing to pay double whatever the reward is on the shark
00:28:14double double you didn't tell me that we got a deal good i'm glad we understand each other so
00:28:23what's the plan oh we're gonna lay a blood line we're gonna lure it in we're gonna shoot it we're
00:28:28gonna sedate it we're gonna tow it back to shore that's it that's your big plan yeah that's it kid
00:28:34this ain't my first fish fry if things go south and it gets out of control then we go plan b plan b
00:28:45yeah i know i'm sorry yo i know you hate these things
00:28:49okay
00:28:53lie do my best
00:29:00all right guys let's see what she has to offer us the reef's a lot more barren compared to last
00:29:06year's dive plant life algae even most of the bottom feeders seem to have checked out
00:29:11that's called global warming yeah and humans once again think they can dump whatever they want
00:29:18wherever they want all right enough chit chat let's get to work take your readings collect
00:29:24anything that seems out of place roger that compared to last year she's down a few millimeters
00:29:30that's definitely not what we were hoping for no it was not hey i'm gonna head around the reef
00:29:36check the backside be careful and watch your back keep an eye out for that thing i'll be fine
00:29:43huh famous last words hey how long have i been doing this with you guys
00:29:50too long exactly i've swam with sharks hundreds of times
00:29:53all over the world i think i'll be fine just give me some time on this side of the world
00:30:02i'll be back in a minute fine just be careful i always am
00:30:12so
00:30:21so
00:30:39hey hey
00:30:42hey how you been i'm okay all things considered yeah grew up to me i just killed a damn thing
00:30:52after all that's happened seriously i'm sorry i know how you are how exactly am i
00:31:02how are you you know vegan free range tree hugging save the world kind of gal
00:31:08i'm sorry it offends you that i care about animals i'm a marine biologist
00:31:13yeah i know i know you capture them and you put them in an aquarium for a bunch
00:31:17of torrents to see yeah i get it please don't start with me
00:31:25glad to see nothing changes but the date yo
00:31:38hey
00:31:50you all right
00:31:54i can't sleep
00:31:57i keep thinking about what happened to sean
00:31:59i shouldn't be out here i'm not a shark hunter i'm a marine biologist and an intern at that
00:32:13whatever's out there it's dangerous
00:32:18you want to know something i'm scared too
00:32:23but don't think about it for the money the research do it for sean
00:32:29and make sure that whatever happened to him doesn't happen to anyone else ever again okay okay
00:32:53so this part of puerto rico is actually called roosevelt road it's actually a decommissioned
00:33:03u.s naval base my father actually served here back in 68 it's one of my favorite places to
00:33:07come on the island the reason i wanted to bring you here today is because this part of fajardo
00:33:13actually has manatees have you folks ever seen a manatee they're beautiful docile creatures
00:33:19they're very loving kind animals but there's only 700 of them left here in puerto rico we have to do
00:33:24everything we can to conserve them to make sure they're happy and that they thrive in this
00:33:28community so get your cameras out we should see a couple manatees here in the harbor
00:33:38folks folks look over there folks get your cameras look right over there
00:33:41come on get your cameras out
00:33:43humpback whale you never see him this close into the island you see him get your cameras get a
00:33:49photo this is a very rare sighting we never get whales this close into the island here in puerto
00:33:54make sure you get
00:33:56wow
00:34:10look at
00:34:22this is such a treat today

00:34:54Attacked by a large predator.
00:34:58Mayday, mayday, mayday, mayday, mayday, mayday, mayday.
00:35:02Attacked by a large predator.

00:35:43Copy that, over.
00:35:45Looks like our shark might have found his next meal.
00:35:48Let's go get this bad boy.

00:36:16Hey, that whale boat's about to become one.
00:36:19Hey, guys.
00:36:20Guys, time to go get a shark.
00:36:21All right, here we go.
00:36:22Grab that chum.
00:36:23Let's go.
00:36:24Right off of here.
00:36:28What's that?
00:36:29It's a spear gun with a sonar tag.
00:36:31Won't that kill it?
00:36:32It's not impossible that it won't.
00:36:35But at least if it doesn't, I'll know where it is.
00:36:37I told you not to kill it.
00:36:38Hey, I'm the captain of this ship.
00:36:40You don't tell me anything, all right?
00:36:42Now make yourself useful and get the hell out of my way.
00:36:47Oh my god.
00:36:55Help!
00:36:56Help!
00:37:12We need to go back to shore.
00:37:13We already lost Sean.
00:37:14I'm not losing anyone else.
00:37:16I'm not going back to shore.
00:37:17We've got a boat out here.
00:37:18We've got people in trouble.
00:37:19We've got to go get this shark.
00:37:23Go, go!
00:37:28Everybody's in there.
00:37:35Go, go, go, go.
00:37:36Go ahead.
00:37:37Nice and safe, but get quick.
00:37:38I want to get you guys on the land.
00:37:40It's OK.
00:37:41You should be safe now.
00:37:42Let's get you on the shore.
00:37:43It's OK.
00:37:44Get you on the shore.
00:37:45Take it slow, guys.
00:37:47What happened?
00:37:48It's a large predator.
00:37:50It's a shark, but it has multiple heads.
00:37:53It ate a humpback whale out there.
00:38:04Where is it?
00:38:05Anybody see it?
00:38:05It got eyes on it?
00:38:07Where is it?
00:38:10I don't know.
00:38:16Guys, it's coming!
00:38:17It's coming!
00:38:46Over here.
00:38:47Now.
00:38:51Stay off the eucopy.
00:38:52He's going your way now.
00:39:00Right there, right there.
00:39:01That's where it is.
00:39:15Wait a minute.
00:39:20Where'd it go?
00:39:21Where is it?
00:39:24I don't know.
00:39:25Wait, where'd it go?
00:39:26Hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:39:28Everybody listen.
00:39:29Just chill.
00:39:32Stay off the eucopy.
00:39:34What are they doing?
00:39:35I don't know.
00:39:36I think they're trying to catch it.
00:39:38Anybody got eyes on it?
00:39:40No.
00:39:46Get out of the water!
00:39:48Get out of the water!
00:39:54Hold on.
00:40:15Hold on.
00:40:45My eye!
00:40:54At least the sonar tag's still inside that thing.
00:41:03Let's get some help.
00:41:05Copy.
00:41:16Let's go.
00:41:30Yes, the shark is dead and I plan to pay him.
00:41:33I just need to know if insurance will cover this.
00:41:36And we're almost bankrupt anyway, but I can't go to jail over this.
00:41:40Look, just do your job.
00:41:42Find out.
00:41:46I can't believe you.
00:41:49Hey, guys.
00:41:51I think you killed it.
00:41:54I mean, there's no way anything can survive a harpoon in the heart, right?
00:41:57So I don't have to shut down any public beaches, right?
00:42:01Until I see a carcass, I ain't buying it.
00:42:04Yeah, a normal-sized shark eats about 11 tons of food a year.
00:42:07And whatever that was, it was at least three times the size of a normal shark.
00:42:10So, if it's still alive, it's gonna kill again.
00:42:13And soon.
00:42:16Look.
00:42:17Half the people in this island work on the ocean.
00:42:20And the other half are here for vacation.
00:42:22So that's it.
00:42:23That's it?
00:42:24It's over?
00:42:26Look.
00:42:27I'm sorry about your friends, okay?
00:42:29Go home, rest.
00:42:31He's right.
00:42:33Let's all take a week off.
00:42:35Go home and rest.
00:42:37You're such a horrible person.
00:42:39We should've never gone back out there.
00:42:41Oh, now this is all my fault.
00:42:43Yeah, it is.
00:42:45Whose else would it be?
00:42:47Two of our team's dead.
00:42:48Sean died.
00:42:50And then we were crazy enough to go back out there.
00:42:53And now Lindsey's dead.
00:42:55And it's still not my fault.
00:42:56If Lindsey had been more careful, she'd be here now.
00:43:00You forced us.
00:43:02Please.
00:43:03You guys wanted this shark as much as I did.
00:43:05To name it after yourself.
00:43:07Or make the scientific discovery to put your names in a history book.
00:43:11You just wanted a payday.
00:43:13Plain and simple.
00:43:14You killed Sean and Lindsey.
00:43:15Hey, hey, hey.
00:43:16Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:43:18No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:43:19Knock it off, alright?
00:43:22Both you guys.
00:43:24Now listen.
00:43:25I know that your friends are dead.
00:43:26Both of them.
00:43:27And I'm sorry about that.
00:43:28There's nothing we can do about that now.
00:43:30And fighting about it's not going to do anybody any good, is it?
00:43:35You okay, kid?
00:43:44No.
00:43:56Good news, guys.
00:43:57We have reports that the shark that was playing this year's Surf Classic has been killed.
00:44:03And as you can see, life is back to normal here at Playa Aviones.
00:44:07Where the action is just about to begin.
00:44:09At the 10th annual Surf Classic.
00:44:12And by my side, I have a very special guest.
00:44:15He's one of Puerto Rico's hottest musicians.
00:44:18And a great guy.
00:44:19DJ Cinzuela.
00:44:22How are you doing today, DJ?
00:44:24I'm doing just fine.
00:44:25It's a great day.
00:44:26Great waves.
00:44:27Great surfers.
00:44:28Head out here, man.
00:44:29Nice.
00:44:30He's going to be performing live here at Playa...
00:44:32At Playa...
00:44:44Gentlemen, there seems to be something in the water.
00:44:48Get out of the water!
00:44:50Get out of the water!
00:45:02Oh my God!
00:45:15There's been another shark attack.
00:45:18At Playa Aviones, at the surf competition.
00:45:24Damn it.
00:45:29I told you I wasn't buying it.
00:45:48What happened?
00:45:49It was gnarly.
00:45:50I've never seen anything like this.
00:45:52This shark, it has like five heads.
00:45:55Maybe six.
00:45:56I couldn't tell.
00:45:58It attacked the whole line up.
00:45:59There was blood everywhere.
00:46:00It was horrible.
00:46:01I'm still looking for my partner.
00:46:03He went in.
00:46:05He's gone.
00:46:06He's gone.
00:46:07He's gone.
00:46:08He's gone.
00:46:09He's gone.
00:46:10He's gone.
00:46:11He's gone.
00:46:12He's gone.
00:46:13He's gone.
00:46:14He's gone.
00:46:15He's gone.
00:46:17This is a disaster.
00:46:21How's it looking out there?
00:46:23Sixteen injured.
00:46:24Five dead.
00:46:27We have to stop this thing before more people die.
00:46:30It's times like these I wish sharks had natural predators.
00:46:35I have an idea.
00:46:46We're under attack from the most amazing scientific discovery of our lifetime
00:46:50and you're showing us dolphins.
00:46:52Just watch.
00:46:53I think I found something.
00:47:02What do they see?
00:47:04We observed this behavior when a pod of dolphins came into contact with the Great White.
00:47:07They were able to manipulate them.
00:47:10Too bad we didn't bring a pod of trained dolphins with us.
00:47:13Yeah, but we have the next best thing.
00:47:15What's that?
00:47:17We have speakers.
00:47:20So you're saying that we're going to use the dolphin sound to scare the shark?
00:47:24Hang on a second.
00:47:25She's right.
00:47:26Sharks hate dolphins.
00:47:28They might look cute, but you don't want to piss them off.
00:47:31So you're saying we lay a speaker line, right, to isolate them?
00:47:34I'll show you where we do this.
00:47:40Alright, so we're going to use the bathymetry along the coastline right here.
00:47:43We're going to lay a speaker line, we put the bait here, we rig it with explosives,
00:47:47and we blow this damn thing to pieces.
00:47:49We eliminate it completely.
00:47:51Yeah, but I don't have that much explosives.
00:47:53All I got is a couple of M80s on the boat.
00:47:54You got anything?
00:47:55Yeah, I have dynamite.
00:47:56I still got 20 grand we bring it in alive.
00:48:01How much dynamite you got?
00:48:02Oof, enough to wipe Fajardo off the map.
00:48:04Yeah?
00:48:05Well, this should be fun.
00:48:07So we isolate the shark and then blammo.
00:48:11Right?
00:48:12You got it, kid. Way to go.
00:48:15Anybody ready to go kill a shark?
00:48:19For Sean and Lindsey.
00:48:20For Sean and Lindsey.
00:48:22For Sean and Lindsey. Let's go do this. Come on.
00:48:28For Sean and Lindsey.
00:48:38The inlet is right here.
00:48:41Okay, so once we find the shark, I'm going to circle around it.
00:48:44And I'm going to use the sound to lead it toward the abandoned ship.
00:48:47And I'm going to take the bait and the charges and I'm going to put them over here on the west side,
00:48:50and that's going to create our net, right?
00:48:52You got the speakers ready?
00:48:53Yeah, I got three speakers set and three buoys ready to go.
00:48:57Okay, my team is on.
00:48:58Okay, let's go.
00:48:59All right, let's do it.
00:49:01That makes both of us.
00:49:03Oh, just wait, you little whippersnapper.
00:49:05Hey, come on, let's go. We got a fish to catch.
00:49:10Let's go.
00:49:41Let's go.
00:50:00Any sign of it yet?
00:50:01Not yet.
00:50:03No, the sonar should start picking it up in a couple of miles.
00:50:08How far to the inlet?
00:50:10About another 15 minutes.
00:50:13Sounds good. I'm going to go get the speakers ready.
00:50:15Yeah, go get them, girl.
00:50:21Hey, listen, man.
00:50:24I know we're not out here for what you paid me for,
00:50:26but whatever you're planning on doing with that shark, it ain't worth it.
00:50:35You're right.
00:50:37It's already killed too many people.
00:50:39It's the right thing to do.
00:50:41The right thing to do would be to not put your employees in danger.
00:50:45I know.
00:50:46I can't take back what's happened.
00:50:51We're good?
00:50:55Really?
00:50:56I'm sorry.
00:50:58You should be.
00:51:02All right, guys, enough of this. We got a shark to kill.
00:51:07Hey.
00:51:09You doing okay?
00:51:11I'm all right.
00:51:16Sorry about your friend.
00:51:18Thank you.
00:51:21Seemed like a good kid.
00:51:23She was my best friend, too.
00:51:28Sorry.
00:51:29You ever lost someone to a shark?
00:51:32Yeah.
00:51:33Yeah, spearfishing.
00:51:34Back in 1997, El Nino, your yellowtail, were running.
00:51:39We were diving down in the kelp bed.
00:51:42Buddy got a nice size yellow on there.
00:51:45Got wrapped up in the kelp.
00:51:47By the time I got to him, he was gone.
00:51:51Shark took his leg off.
00:51:54Bled out.
00:51:57It was about the end of that.
00:51:59I'm so sorry.
00:52:01That's terrible.
00:52:03You know, the ocean teaches us all a lot of things about ourselves.
00:52:09I was not prepared for this.
00:52:12Me neither.
00:52:14Four-headed shark, never heard of such a thing.
00:52:18Yeah.
00:52:19But we'll get her.
00:52:20If she's out there, we'll get her.
00:52:23I hope so.
00:52:24Promise you.
00:52:40Any sign of that shark yet?
00:52:42Not yet.
00:52:44Well, here it goes.
00:52:57One down, nine to go.
00:53:10Yeah!
00:53:21You think that speaker will hold up underwater?
00:53:25It's supposed to be waterproof, but just in case, I put them all in waterproof dive bags.
00:53:31And Captain Sterling has one on the police vessel as well?
00:53:34Yeah, his vessel has a built-in speaker.
00:53:37You know, I'm sorry.
00:53:40I really am.
00:53:41I know all this is my fault.
00:53:46Yeah, well, we're all on the same team, so all we can do now is just try to make it better.
00:53:54I'm trying.
00:53:56I want you to know, I know I've been a real jerk.
00:53:59But it was all for the aquarium.
00:54:04Yeah.
00:54:07I repeat, I want confirmation of the mandatory shutdown of all coastal traffic and all the beaches are to remain in lockdown.
00:54:16Can you confirm this?
00:54:17Yeah, copy that.
00:54:20We get you first.
00:54:23Oh, baby.
00:54:25Do you think this will work?
00:54:27I hope so.
00:54:29This is Sterling.
00:54:31Coming day off.
00:54:37Day off here.
00:54:39Any signs of the shark?
00:54:41We're almost set here.
00:54:42We've got one more buoy and we've got to put the bait in and we're good.
00:54:46Okay, copy that.
00:54:47Let me know if there's any sightings.
00:54:49Copy that, over.
00:54:51All right, see this?
00:54:52We're coming up into the mouth of the inlet.
00:54:54This is going to work.
00:54:55Now's the time, okay?
00:54:56Get those dolphin sounds going.
00:54:57Let's go, girl.
00:54:59We'll bet.
00:55:18Okay, that should do it.
00:55:19I'm going to go ahead and put the bait in.
00:55:22Okay, that should do it.
00:55:26It's not the nicest of sounds, is it?
00:55:28No wonder sharks hate it.
00:55:31All right, this should draw the shark directly into the inlet right where we want it to go.
00:55:39Okay, that's it.
00:55:42Okay, we're all good.
00:55:43Let's set that trap.
00:55:52Okay.
00:56:01There she is.
00:56:03It looks like it's just two miles away.
00:56:05Yeah.
00:56:07The dolphin noise is keeping it from the coast, but it's just going the wrong way.
00:56:11Let's circle around and cut it off right here.
00:56:14Great.
00:56:16Sounds like a plan.
00:56:22Let's go.
00:56:30Yeah, this is it right here.
00:56:31Okay.
00:56:32Yeah.
00:56:33It's go time, kid.
00:56:34Lay that board line.
00:56:35Let's go.
00:56:36Got it.
00:56:41All right, here we go.
00:56:43Time to set the trail.
00:56:51Okay.
00:57:02Hey, Kate, want to give me a hand?
00:57:06That'll help get your mind off things.
00:57:10I can't do this.
00:57:13She was my best friend.
00:57:16I miss her too, but we have to keep going.
00:57:18I mean, that's the only thing that we can do is just keep going.
00:57:25Trust me.
00:57:33Okay.
00:57:35Let's do this.
00:57:38All right, let's go.
00:57:49Okay.
00:57:57There he is.
00:57:58Yeah.
00:57:59He's getting closer.
00:58:08Where is it?
00:58:09I don't know.
00:58:11Okay.
00:58:17Okay, there he is.
00:58:18Let's get that bait up and rolling, guys.
00:58:24What is that?
00:58:26Mammal fat.
00:58:27Attracts the sharks.
00:58:29Just like the women with me.
00:58:32Ain't that right, sweet pea?
00:58:33All right.
00:58:34Here, give me that.
00:58:35What's that?
00:58:37These are depth charges.
00:58:39Oh, look out.
00:58:40Oh, and another one.
00:58:42Don't worry, they don't go off until 20 feet after the shark eats them.
00:58:48Is this seriously going to work?
00:58:50Is it going to work?
00:58:51The only other alternative is live bait.
00:58:54Want to try it?
00:58:55No, no, no, no, no.
00:58:56That's something.
00:58:57Yeah, that's what I thought.
00:58:59All right, you know, here we go.
00:59:01It's starting to get dirty.
00:59:02Grab that.
00:59:03Yeah, okay.
00:59:04Oh, grab the anchor line, please.
00:59:05Thank you.
00:59:09Okay.
00:59:19What happened?
00:59:21Maybe the sonar tag fell off.
00:59:24It was just on the screen.
00:59:29Maybe we should turn on the dolphin sound.
00:59:31No, no, no, no, no.
00:59:33No, it needs to be on the east side of us so we can drive toward the inlet.
00:59:36Come on.
00:59:39I can't see it.
00:59:40Do you have anything?
00:59:43No, no, no.
00:59:44It's not here.
01:00:09Something's not right.
01:00:26Wait a second.
01:00:30Do you have it?
01:00:31Do you see it?
01:00:32No.
01:00:33I can't see it.
01:00:34It's not here.
01:00:38It's not here.
01:00:46There's nothing here.
01:00:56I'm getting something here.
01:00:58Wait.
01:01:00It's right under us.
01:01:27Help me!
01:01:58Mayday! Mayday!
01:01:59I have visual from the charge.
01:02:01He's right on me.
01:02:03Mayday!
01:02:04Mayday!
01:02:05I have visual from the charge.
01:02:07Sterling, where is he?
01:02:10He's right on me.
01:02:12Mayday!
01:02:13Mayday!
01:02:14I have visual from the charge.
01:02:16Sterling, where is he?
01:02:19He's right on me.
01:02:42Mayday!
01:02:43Mayday!
01:02:44I have visual from the charge.
01:02:45Sterling, where is he?
01:02:46He's right on me.
01:02:47Mayday!
01:02:48I have visual from the charge.
01:02:49Sterling, where is he?
01:02:50He's right on me.
01:02:51Mayday!
01:02:52I have visual from the charge.
01:02:53Sterling, where is he?
01:02:54He's right on me.
01:02:55Mayday!
01:02:56I have visual from the charge.
01:02:57Sterling, where is he?
01:02:58He's right on me.
01:02:59Mayday!
01:03:00I have visual from the charge.
01:03:01Sterling, where is he?
01:03:02He's right on me.
01:03:03Mayday!
01:03:04I have visual from the charge.
01:03:05Sterling, where is he?
01:03:06He's right on me.
01:03:07Mayday!
01:03:08I have visual from the charge.
01:03:09Sterling, where is he?
01:03:10He's right on me.
01:03:11Mayday!
01:03:12I have visual from the charge.
01:03:13Sterling, where is he?
01:03:14He's right on me.
01:03:15Mayday!
01:03:17I have visual from the charge.
01:03:37I have visual from the charge.
01:03:39Mayday! Mayday please! Please! I've lost engine power. Red, can you hear me?
01:03:52Stay calm, stay calm, all right? I need you to get the shark to swim toward me somehow.
01:03:57The shark is circling me now.
01:04:01Wait till it gets east, okay? When it gets east, that's when you release the dolphin sounds.
01:04:09Okay, Red. Give me a second.
01:04:31Come on, come on, come on.
01:05:01It worked! It worked! He's heading east now. Kill it! Kill it, Red!
01:05:16Copy, all right, over.
01:05:31There it is, coming our way. It's working!
01:05:41Hey, everybody on point. It's coming our way now, guys.
01:06:01The shark, it's coming right into the inlet. It must smell the blood trail.
01:06:06All right, let's get this bad boy in the water. Hey, hey, give me that teaser line out there and let's go.
01:06:11Aye, aye, Captain.
01:06:15All right, listen, let me know when you see anything. We're all set here.
01:06:29Wait, Red. The shark, it stopped.
01:06:34What do you mean it stopped? Hold on, where is it?
01:06:39That doesn't even make any sense. It should be going toward the chum line.
01:06:43Kate, go downstairs and help him out, okay? Go downstairs and get that chum out there.
01:06:46Keep an eye on it and let me know what you see, okay?
01:07:00Yo, let me know when something pops up on there, okay?
01:07:04Okay.
01:07:19This isn't working.
01:07:22What do you mean it's not working? This is why they call it fishing, not catching, right?
01:07:31Anything on the monitor?
01:07:33Nothing.
01:07:42How's this line doing over here?
01:07:47Ah, this is part of the problem right here. This thing's all the way back.
01:07:50It's quiet.
01:07:51Yeah.
01:07:58Are you sure this shark bait trick is gonna work?
01:08:04Patience, all right?
01:08:06This is the calm before the storm, guys.
01:08:08That's what I'm afraid of.
01:08:10How long's this gonna take? I'm not doing so well.
01:08:13I don't know, man. Relax. Give me a break, okay? I'm gonna catch a shark.
01:08:20Why do they call you Red?
01:08:24You wanna know why they call me Red?
01:08:27Spearfishing off the Channel Islands.
01:08:30Got a yellowtail on the line. Start reeling him in, pulling him like this.
01:08:33All of a sudden, boom, back of my head. I get hit by a hammerhead.
01:08:36Pull out my dive knife. I start stabbing him. I fight him the best I can.
01:08:39I work my way back to the boat, crawl up.
01:08:43I'm bleeding all over the place. My scalp's hanging off.
01:08:47Guys are a pretty salty crew, and they're like,
01:08:49What's up, Red?
01:08:52But I won, so there you have it.
01:08:59What, you don't believe me?
01:09:01You're the shark hunter.
01:09:04Oh, daddy, it's you. Hey, thanks for the jump, buddy.
01:09:08You okay?
01:09:11Let me get that line back out.
01:09:14You okay?
01:09:17Let me get that line back out.
01:09:44There!
01:10:04There!
01:10:08I think I see something!
01:10:12What is it?
01:10:14Oh, it's definitely there. It's moving fast.
01:10:20How fast?
01:10:22Very.
01:10:34I think it's circling us.
01:10:36Circling us?
01:10:38I don't know why.
01:10:44It's coming!
01:10:46All right, guys, let's go. Let's go, let's go. It's time. Game on.
01:10:53I saw it! There it is! There it is! A fin!
01:10:57Wait, is that it? Is that our shark?
01:11:01Look out, you guys. Look out. It's coming through.
01:11:04Is that the one?
01:11:07I think I've seen it spin.
01:11:17All right, hang on a second.
01:11:21Hang on, where'd it go?
01:11:38Oh, there it is. There it is. It just took it.
01:11:51All right, this is going to be big. You ready, guys? Here we go.
01:11:54In three, two, one.
01:11:58Three, two, one.
01:12:12Holy crap.
01:12:16Did it work?
01:12:18Did it work?
01:12:23Thanks. We killed it.
01:12:26Good job.
01:12:29We did it. Everybody.
01:12:33Great job, guys.
01:12:47Guys, please tell me you just saw that.
01:12:51Yeah, I did. I just saw that.
01:12:53That's a fin. It's not dead.
01:12:56Do something.
01:13:04What the hell do you think I'm doing? I'm trying to get out of here.
01:13:10Why are we moving?
01:13:12We got a problem. We took out the prop.
01:13:15So we're just sitting ducks?
01:13:19Sterling. Sterling, this is KO. Requesting vessel assist right now.
01:13:24We got a problem.
01:13:26Come in. This is Sterling. Come in.
01:13:29Sterling, Shark took out our prop. We're in trouble out here. We need some help.
01:13:33Oh, man, that's one smart Shark.
01:13:35It did the same to me. Hang in there, buddy. I'm doing all I can.
01:13:38Okay, copy that.
01:13:42We need to get the hell out of here.
01:13:44And now I didn't pay you to make us a Shark happy meal.
01:13:50Where is it? Did anyone see it?
01:13:56Ram, you and Thaddeus, gather up all the chum left.
01:14:11Awesome!
01:14:21Kate!
01:14:28Kate!
01:14:33Kate! Ram, help her!
01:14:42Kate!

01:14:57Come on! Come on, come on, faster!
01:15:03Come on! Come on, we missed it!
01:15:07Come on!
01:15:11Hurry, hurry!
01:15:16Come on!
01:15:23I got it! I got it! You see that? I got it! I killed that freaking Shark!

01:15:41Come on, come on!
01:15:59Come on, come on!
01:16:01Come on, come on!
01:16:24Mayday! Mayday! I need a helicopter to the inlet right now.
01:16:29Day Off is stranded. They need help. We need search and rescue right away. You copy that?
01:16:35Copy. Dispatching helicopter now.
01:16:39Coming, Day Off.
01:16:42Zerling, this is Day Off. Come in, over.
01:16:44Red, I'm sending a helicopter right now.
01:16:48He'll be there shortly.
01:16:50You're going to have to hold off the Shark until it gets to you.
01:16:53Copy that.
01:16:55Hey guys, they're sending in a chopper. We've got to hold it off until then. Let's go.
01:17:08Wait.
01:17:10You guys ever used one of these before?
01:17:12No.
01:17:14No?
01:17:17So do it. You rack it. Point it.
01:17:22There you go.
01:17:24Well, Rach, it's for you.
01:17:29What about the dolphin sounds?
01:17:31We don't have another speaker.
01:17:35Well, we've got to go old school.
01:17:42Search and rescue en route to the location of Day Off. Please await visual confirmation.
01:17:55Look out!
01:18:12Where did it go?
01:18:13The sonar only picks up a diameter of about a hundred feet.
01:18:19It's coming back.
01:18:22All right, on the count of three, when I tell you fire, we fire. You ready?
01:18:26On. Here it comes. Two, three, and fire!
01:18:31Two, three, and fire!
01:18:50Where is it? You guys see it?
01:18:52Check the sonar.
01:18:54I don't see it.
01:18:56Hey, maybe we got it. You know, I think I shot it a few times. Maybe we killed it, you know?
01:19:01I don't think a shark like this is going to be scared off by a couple of bullets.
01:19:08We have visual confirmation on the Day Off. Going in.
01:19:14Yeah, do you hear that?
01:19:16Oh, thank God!
01:19:18There it is!
01:19:21Hey!
01:19:46Did that just happen?
01:19:51What do you see?
01:19:53All I see is something big. It's probably the helicopter.
01:20:05Is it dead? Did the explosion kill it?
01:20:08I don't know. Light of it.
01:20:11There's nothing on the monitors.
01:20:14Maybe we got it.
01:20:16Maybe we got it.
01:20:20I highly doubt it, kid. I highly doubt it.
01:20:36Sterling, this is Day Off. Sterling, this is Day Off. Come in. Over.
01:20:40Sterling here. The rescue helicopter arrived. Are you safe?
01:20:46Yeah, we're safe. Shark's dead.
01:20:49Is the helicopter there?
01:20:52Unfortunately, the chopper went down.
01:20:56Sorry about that, man. Over.
01:20:59Over.
01:21:15Fred, come take a look at this!
01:21:20What's up? What do we got?
01:21:29No!
01:21:30It's moving.
01:21:32I knew it. That's what my gut was telling me.
01:21:35What else do we have to kill this thing?
01:21:37I don't know. I just got a couple of depth charges and... that's it.
01:21:43Here we go.
01:21:46I tell you, throw it in the water.
01:21:50Wait, what are you gonna do?

01:22:53Yeah, I see it. Right there!
01:22:57There he is.
01:23:05There you are, you dirty bastard.
01:23:26No!
01:23:42Where is he?
01:23:44It's swimming away from us. I'd say about 50 feet.
