00:00Because tonight people here and around the country have spoken and they're ready for
00:20change, to end the politics of performance and return to politics as public service.
00:28But change begins right here, because this is your democracy, your community and your
00:35future.
00:36You have voted, it is now time for us to deliver.
00:42Thank you very much.
00:59The Labour Party has won this general election and I have called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate
01:06him on his victory.
01:08Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner, with goodwill on all sides.
01:14That is something that should give us all confidence in our country's stability and future.
01:20It's not just disappointment with the Conservative Party, there is a massive gap on the centre
01:39right of British politics and my job is to fill it and that's exactly what I'm going
01:44to do.
01:46It's a very good way of putting it.
01:48Look, the waiting list went up in April by about 300,000 and there's been no strikes.
01:58And until we deal with the workforce crisis...
02:00How many seats will you win, Mr Davy?
02:03I don't know.
02:05Are you the next leader of the opposition?
02:15I think they need to hit the ground running.
02:22There's a huge amount of disillusionment with politics in general and that is at the moment
02:27directed at the Conservative Party.
02:29But Labour won't be able to rest on its laurels for very long.
02:32It won't take long for them to become the subject or the actor that's responsible for
02:38low incomes, for high taxation and the lack of change.
02:42So I think they really need to get started on that.
02:44I think they're aware of that, if that's any help.
02:47It's whether or not they're able to action their plans.
