01:27Thank you very much. Can I first of all begin by saying thank you to the returning officer and to the team that have been working so hard throughout the day in the polling stations and at the count this evening.
01:39You play a critical role in our democracy. As do the other candidates. I don't think anybody really understands what it's like to be a candidate until you've been one and I thank you all for the spirit in which you've held this election.
01:54It is an honour to be elected Member of Parliament for the Daventry constituency and I thank all those who voted for me and I pledge that I will work as hard as I can for every single part of that constituency.
02:07There is no doubt that this has been a difficult night for the Conservative Party and we have a lot of soul searching to do but unity is the thing that matters most.
02:19And we must make sure that we come together as a team and sort ourselves out so that we can make sure we are holding the government to account in Parliament.
02:29I want to say thank you to Chris Heaton-Harris for his years of service to this constituency and for the hard work that he has done.
02:39I also want to pay tribute to all of my team who have been out campaigning with me day and night for the amazing work that they have done helping me get elected today.
02:50I also want to say thank you to my agent Dan for all the work that he has done and finally to my partner Robin who is always by my side in these challenging times but always we do it with great fun and great grace.
03:06I look forward to serving all the people of the Daventry constituency in the years to come. Thank you.
