00:00Following the pass of Hurricane Beryl, we move now to Barbados, where collaborator Mykron Robinson keeps us updated.
00:07It's a rough ride for businesses here within the Oisins Bay Gardens community who have been rocked by the passage of Category 4 Hurricane Beryl.
00:16Just behind me are workers of the Ministry of Transport and Works who are shoveling away sand that has been brought here because of the strong gusts and storm surges because of Hurricane Beryl.
00:28Quite recently, Oisins Bay Gardens has undergone at least $5 million in renovations because of the recently concluded T20 cricket matches won by India, of course, as of the 29th of June 2024.
00:44Businesses have been complaining of challenges to roof infrastructure, the movement of sand, which has blocked many of them from closing their doors and so forth.
00:55My name is Josette Bispum. I'm the owner of Angel's Cafeteria. This is the first time I was here 28 years. I've been through hurricanes, storms, rainfall, ash, everything.
01:11And I cannot believe what I saw when I came here and saw the debris, the sand, the wind, the sea. Man, it was a disaster for Bay Gardens.
01:26The obvious next step for businesses here on the south of Barbados in Oisins is for the major cleanup campaign to come to an end.
01:35For Tell Us Our English, from Bridgestone, Barbados, I'm Mishron Robinson.
