00:00We are back live on Dynamite, and there's a reason we come back to Chicago many, many
00:09times.
00:10Some of the greatest wrestling fans in the world are right here in Chicago, and now,
00:16ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back with me to Dynamite, the one and only Dr.
00:24Brett Baker, D.M.D.!
00:30Taz, what a moment it was this past Sunday night at Forbidden Door.
00:47Mercedes Monet successfully became double champion,
00:52the TBS champion, and Japan's strong women's champion,
00:56but did not have one to celebrate.
00:58And Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, returning on the scene.
01:02Yeah, Britt made her presence known directly in the face
01:06of Mercedes, for sure, in Mercedes' moment.
01:10But that's how the good doctor does it.
01:12Picture spots.
01:13Haven't seen her in a while,
01:14but it's great for us to see her again here.
01:17Our old friend, Tony Schiavone, key words, old.
01:20He beat me to it.
01:21I think, well, that's what I do.
01:25All right, see you later, Tony.
01:26Take care, Schiavone.
01:26Bye-bye.
01:40Damn, I missed you guys.
01:42I thought way too long, way too hard
01:48about what I was going to say my first interview back.
01:52And then I said, Britt, shut the hell up.
01:54Stop thinking.
01:55So I'm just going to talk to you, if that's okay.
02:02I'm going to talk to you about three things
02:03that we all have, and that's a past, a present,
02:09and a future.
02:11Our past is our lesson.
02:14Our present is a gift.
02:18And our future is our motivation.
02:22Let's start with the past.
02:25For the last 10 months, I'm sure a lot of you
02:30have been wondering, where's Britt?
02:36And any time that question was asked,
02:38the answer was given, she's injured.
02:43Yeah, but I think you guys know me by now
02:46to know that it would take more than a couple
02:49of herniated discs and a torn hip labrum
02:51to keep me away from this place.
02:56Back in November, physically, yeah, I was banged up,
03:00and mentally, I was probably running on empty.
03:04But every time I looked myself in the mirror,
03:07I said, I'm good.
03:12Until one day, I wasn't.
03:16Because one day, I started feeling really sick.
03:22And the room was spinning, my vision was blurry,
03:28and my right arm was tingling and numb,
03:31and it was, something didn't feel right,
03:33but I looked at myself in the mirror,
03:35and I said, I'm good.
03:37I tried to open a bottle of water, and I couldn't.
03:44And my entire right side stopped working.
03:49To sum this story up, I spent a week in the hospital
03:53with a diagnosis of a TIA,
03:55which is a transient ischemic attack.
03:59And the doctors explained that to me
04:02as an instance when your brain is not getting enough blood
04:06for that moment.
04:08And it is a major warning sign for a stroke,
04:10so much that they call it a mini stroke.
04:14And at that moment, I looked myself in the mirror,
04:16and I said, Brit, you are not good.
04:21And I told Tony, I need to stay home.
04:25I need to get myself right.
04:28And he said, okay, Brit, let me know when you're good.
04:32Let's jump to the present.
04:37I'm here, I'm cleared, and I'm healthy.
04:48But I have to be honest with you guys,
04:51in my entire professional wrestling career,
04:53I was never more nervous than I was Sunday night
04:57when I was in the ring.
04:59More nervous than I was Sunday night at Forbidden Door.
05:02And you're probably wondering why.
05:03All you did was stand at the top of the ramp, Brit.
05:07But I was never more unsure of myself.
05:11I never doubted myself more
05:13because I didn't know if anyone was gonna give a damn
05:16that I was about to walk through that tunnel.
05:18I love you, Brit!
05:23And you're cheering right now
05:24because you all have felt that.
05:26You have felt the fear of rejection.
05:29And it's irrational, but it's persistent as hell.
05:32And the fear of rejection is often worse
05:34than the rejection itself.
05:37But vulnerability is showing up
05:39even when we have no control over what's gonna happen.
05:43And Sunday night at Forbidden Door,
05:45when I needed professional wrestling,
05:48when I needed all elite wrestling,
05:51when I needed you,
05:58you welcomed me back with open arms and D&D chants.
06:06And for that, I will always, always be in your corner.
06:13Because at the end of the day, I'm one of you.
06:17And I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
06:19Let's go to the future now, which is your motivation.
06:22And I'm gonna leave you with this.
06:25When you are going through a hard time,
06:29go through that shit.
06:31Be present and feel all of it.
06:34Because if you do, it's gonna make it that much better
06:37when you get to the other side.
06:38And you will.
06:39We all will.
06:42Because we all possess the impulse
06:48to be elite.
06:53And speaking of elite,
06:56I have to bring this up because I heard
06:59we have a new female face of all elite wrestling.
07:09And it must be so rewarding for her
07:15to be able to call herself that
07:17after shedding blood, sweat, and tears in this very ring
07:22and building this company from the ground up.
07:24That must feel great for her, right?
07:32And CEO, those three letters,
07:36I'm sure she worked so hard and studied for over a decade
07:41to earn those three letters.
07:42And it is honestly brilliant to manipulate your fan base
07:46to chant those three letters
07:48by piping them in your entrance music.
07:55But guys, I don't think we need music
08:01to tell our new friend the only three letters
08:06that matter in this company are D-L-E.
08:13Thank you.
08:39EMTs.
08:40Coming from the EVPs to the CEOs, we just want to say congratulations Double Champion!
08:46You're a CEO that we could actually get behind, how about that?
08:50And hey, your championship celebration is ready.
08:54Let's go!
08:56Alright guys, keep the ring ready, keep the props going, let's go!
09:00Come on!
09:02Keep it up, get to work.
09:04Keep the action going, keep the energy everybody, let's go, let's have a great show!
09:08Alright!
09:10Wow, where would we be without Matthew and Nicholas Jackson?
09:14I'm looking off the monitor here and I think that's what's happening, they're bringing out the balloons and the...
09:20Yeah, well somebody's in the ring, come on now.
09:22The championship celebration apparently is going to begin while Britt Baker is still in the ring.
09:29This is bogus, but this is typical EVP stuff.
09:35Yeah, that's definitely disrespectful to our returning Britt Baker, who's a former EW Women's World Champion,
09:41she's an original here at AEW.
09:43Monday's tournament winner, day one.
09:45And who not that long ago, her career was in jeopardy as you heard.
09:51Well there is Mercedes.
09:53That's not to take anything away from Mercedes Benet, who this past Sunday at Forbidden Door
09:57had an incredible battle with Stephanie Van Gurn.
09:59And there you see Mercedes as the TBS Champion and the New Japan Strong Women's Champion.
10:07You know what I like about this Excalibur, Britt's not moving.
10:11She's holding her ground through all of this.
10:13And I guess Mercedes thought she would just leave and give the ring to Mercedes.
10:18Yeah, that's not how Britt is, she's feisty, but so is Mercedes, so let's see how this thing evolves.
10:27We need more, we need more, we need more, we need more, we need more.
10:58Um, oops.
11:02Britt, did I interrupt something?
11:06Cause Chicago!
11:12It's time to celebrate with your double champion, Mercedes Benet.
11:24I get it.
11:27I outshined your moment at Forbidden Door, so now you're trying to outshine mine.
11:34Britt, what you do is so irrelevant to me.
11:38But if you want to talk about Forbidden Door, let's talk about it.
11:41The place, the pay-per-view I made famous when I became double champion.
11:48You know, Britt, I should have known you were trying to come out here and steal my spotlight.
12:03But unlike Chicago and like you, I want you to get a real good look at what a real star looks like.
12:18All in.
12:24All in, Mercedes.
12:26I wrestled at the first all in right here in Chicago.
12:33I was the first female to go all in on All Elite Wrestling by signing my name on that contract.
12:42I wrestled at All In last year at Wembley Stadium when your ass was looking like a broken bitch with a broken leg in the stands.
12:57So I want to face you at All In.
13:04At All In.
13:16Britt, I'm never broke. I stay rich.
13:21And since I am a double champion, there is a long list of girls who are waiting in the back.
13:28So you need to get in the back of the line, bitch.
13:34Bitch, what line?
13:49Well, I see you're a fan, so you always know what I'm going to say next.
13:54There's a price to pay when you mess with Mercedes' money.
14:05Wow.
14:07That thing got hot real quick.
14:09Yeah.
14:11This is going to be a very interesting situation to watch develop.
14:19But fans, let's take you back to this Sunday at Forbidden Door.
14:24A pivotal moment.
