Taiwan's high schoolers will be able to claim mental health leave starting in August. This comes after the suicide rate among the country's young people more than doubled between 2014 and 2022.

00:12From 2014 to 2022, the suicide rate among people aged 15 to 24 more than doubled in

00:20Universities have already introduced a similar plan, allowing three to five days off per
00:25semester.
00:26High schoolers wanting to claim a day off will not need a doctor's note, but will need
00:30permission from their parent or guardian.
