00:00Let's talk about the United States.
00:02This storm was on track to hit a part of Texas.
00:05Should the people of Texas be concerned
00:08and particularly what areas?
00:10OK, so Accuweather experts just in
00:12reviewing all of the latest data this
00:14afternoon we continue to raise our
00:16concern level about the risk for at
00:19least some rain and wind across
00:21portions of southeast Texas and our
00:23concerns are greatest from, for example,
00:26the Houston Galveston area over
00:28toward Port Arthur all the way south
00:30toward Corpus Christi and Brownsville.
00:32And the indication is that the
00:34storm as it heads into the weekend,
00:36it's going to change its character
00:38a little bit right now.
00:40What I mean by that right now,
00:42it's a pretty fast moving storm in
00:45the Caribbean, a very intense storm.
00:47As we head into the weekend,
00:49it's going to cross the Yucatan
00:51Peninsula in Mexico and end up
00:53in the southern Gulf of Mexico.
00:55That's a precarious position for
00:56the United States, especially for the.
00:58For the Western Gulf Coast,
01:00and especially for Texas.
01:01Now it's not going to have this.
01:03We do not expect it to say have the
01:05same intensity as it does in the
01:07Caribbean right now.
01:08That's why I mean the character
01:10of the storm will be different.
01:12It's likely to be a tropical storm or
01:14perhaps a Category 1 hurricane on
01:15the Saffir Simpson wind scale,
01:17but the issue is that we could be
01:19dealing with the risk for damaging
01:21winds along parts of the South Texas
01:23coastline, especially Corpus Christi
01:25on southbound and what we're most
01:27especially concerned about is the
01:28risk for flooding rainfall and the
01:30particular concern could be that if
01:32the steering winds in the atmosphere
01:34really slow down quite a lot,
01:36this storm could just slowly move
01:38in parts of Southeast Texas and
01:40could produce a very significant
01:41flooding concern in those areas,
01:43so that's not for sure at the moment.
01:45We're just raising that concern so
01:47that people are aware of it here.
01:49Over the coming days,
01:51it's something you want to stay
01:52tuned for.
01:53The AccuWeather forecast as we continue
01:55to refine that here over the next
01:57several days and those impacts,
01:58Brittany would likely start perhaps
02:00Sunday night or more likely Monday
02:02and Tuesday, so it's a long way out,
02:04but we want people to have this on their
02:06radar, no pun intended,
02:07so that they can start their early
02:10preparations and be aware of this threat,
02:12especially as we head into the US holiday.
02:14Sometimes people are understandably
02:16working on traveling or thinking
02:17about other things.
02:18It's very important to be aware of
02:20this threat, especially as we
02:22Head into the weekend and into next week.
02:24Josh, thank you.
02:25It's very important to be aware that
02:28this threat is there and stay tuned
02:30to later AccuWeather forecast so you
02:32can be best prepared and keep your
02:33family safer.
02:34Everyone definitely needs to be aware.
02:35Keep their eye out,
02:36especially as we head into the
02:38weekend and into next week.
