00:00Mhm. Hi everybody. I'm Br
00:05Forbes breaking news. Joi
00:07Porter, chief meteorologi
00:10Thank you so much for joi
00:12to be with you. It's good
00:14good to have your experti
00:16a really serious situatio
00:19of the 2024 Atlantic seas
00:22the Caribbean. It's on it
00:25do we need to know? Well,
00:28the key point. This has b
00:31storm across parts of the
00:33Islands that dealt head o
00:36of a category five hurric
00:40across across those areas
00:42going to be a threat for
00:45Jamaica and the Cayman Is
00:48going to be concerned abo
00:50Yucatan Peninsula in Mexi
00:53concerns about rain and w
00:57texas as well. So this is
01:00storm that people need to
01:02we head into the U. S. Ho
01:05next couple of days. Let'
01:08because that's where hurr
01:10next. What can people in
01:13as you said, this was a c
01:17can the people of Jamaica
01:20five once it makes landfa
01:23has been encountering som
01:26is it's headed very rapid
01:29over the last 24 hours. A
01:32that's facing is increasi
01:35does that mean? When mete
01:37wind shear, we're talking
01:40and direction through the
01:43a hurricane enters into a
01:45wind shear, that can be d
01:48That's why we're already
01:51barrel come down a bit. T
01:55intensity and that is goi
01:57be the trend here. We thi
02:00of days, but it is going
02:02intense hurricane and pos
02:06threatening hazards from
02:09to a life threatening, ca
02:11in some parts of Jamaica,
02:13for a 6 to 10 ft storm su
02:17the capital. So that's ob
02:19concern in Jamaica as well
02:23locations in the caribbe
02:26terrain, then we're alway
02:28only the concern from a r
02:30for how much falls from t
02:32in steep terrain, the ris
02:35compounding some of those
02:38variety of life threateni
02:40way for Jamaica on Wednes
02:43to be dealing with serious
02:45islands on thursday. Then
02:47later in the week for the
02:49And as this storm moves t
02:53does it look like it's we
02:57we do think again that we
03:00seeing the storm lose a b
03:03But I want to caution som
03:06that and they lose their
03:08That is not what you want
03:11of situation. This is a v
03:14and although the wind int
03:16a bit, the impacts are go
03:19significant and they're g
03:21life threatening impacts
03:24from the winds, the flood
03:27that storm surge in coast
03:30is also going to be a maj
03:32is not the time to let yo
03:35people need to rush comple
03:38hurricane planning to com
03:40preparations in Jamaica a
03:44going to be dealing with
03:45there on Wednesday into W
03:48storm has been called unpr
03:52A. Do you think it is unpr
03:54looking at the storm and
03:57you're laying out between
03:59storm surge mudslide amon
04:02are you most concerned ab
04:06the storm being unpreceden
04:07that we certainly oftenti
04:10with category five hurric
04:12the most intense hurrican
04:15have the highest wind spe
04:17and on average some of th
04:20they pose very serious li
04:24and all those different d
04:25talked about. What's been
04:28about this storm is how f
04:32those serious impacts in
04:35Islands and how early in
04:39of the Atlantic Ocean, th
04:41struck. That's what's unp
04:43That's the type of situat
04:47dealing with later in aug
04:50So it just shows you how
04:53Of course, Accuweather ex
04:54about that months in adva
04:57sources. And that is why
05:01about that warm water and
05:03good to be running ahead
05:06is not one of them. We've
05:08warm that water is before
05:10of that, we can have such
05:13this early in the year in
05:17is what was unprecedented
05:19of course, we're going to
05:20with the rest of these im
05:23treks across the caribbea
05:25threaten the Yucatan peni
05:28of southeast texas. I wan
05:31the timing of this becaus
05:33it is very early in the 2
05:37season. Does this timing
05:39of a storm? I mean, categ
05:42to be devastating. Does t
05:45to be a very active hurri
05:48the fact that we had such
05:50so early in the year, tha
05:53in that part of the Atlan
05:55obviously once again, ano
05:59unprecedented this hurric
06:02Accuweather experts all t
06:05end of last year started
06:08bells and we've been cont
06:09about that ahead of other
06:13this hurricane season cou
06:15risk for it to become sup
06:18of not only many storms,
06:21impacts and we're already
06:22this year. So yes, it's j
06:25evidence that shows the c
06:29upcoming hurricane season
06:31season that we're in. And
06:33getting started here. We'
06:35to go and our concerns ab
06:39impacts and we need peopl
06:43monitoring that Accuweath
06:45here are watching every c
06:48every tropical wave and a
06:50it can become a tropical
06:53our Accuweather experts b
06:55and almost 30 hours befor
06:59National Hurricane Center
07:01track forecast for the st
07:03barrel. Once again, helpi
07:06informed and saving lives
07:08do here at Accuweather. W
07:11on the case. But let's sa
07:13do to have their hurrican
07:15on these islands versus w
07:18is peak vacation season.
07:21on these islands, what sh
07:23plan be to? Well, Brittany
07:27point that we always stre
07:29the hurricane season. Man
07:31in the Caribbean. Those a
07:34except if you're dealing
07:37That's why it's just so i
07:39to that Accuweather forec
07:42We have great interactive
07:44dot com that enable you t
07:47areas and look at the tra
07:50forecast the storm for ou
07:53which is longer than any
07:55people best informed. So
07:58if you have travel plans
08:01the eastern seaboard in t
08:04along the Gulf Coast or a
08:06to stay informed, know th
08:09a plan. Should a tropical
08:11threaten your vacation? H
08:14to leave early and make s
08:16with your family and you'
08:18just something else not t
08:21but just something to be
08:22if you do need to take ac
08:25do so. And let's talk abo
08:27This storm was on track t
08:30Should the people of Texa
08:32particularly what areas?
08:36experts just in reviewing
08:39data this afternoon, we c
08:42our concern level about t
08:46some rain and wind across
08:50texas and our concerns ar
08:53example, the Houston Galv
08:55toward Port Arthur all th
08:58Corpus Christi and Browns
09:01is that the storm as it h
09:05it's going to change its
09:07bit right now. What I mea
09:08it's a pretty fast moving
09:11a very intense storm as w
09:13weekend, it's going to cr
09:15in Mexico and end up in t
09:18of Mexico. That's a preca
09:21the United States, especi
09:25Gulf Coast and especially
09:28not going to have this. W
09:31the same intensity as it
09:33right now. That's why I m
09:35of the storm will be diff
09:37be a tropical storm or pe
09:40hurricane on the south fo
09:43But the issue is that we
09:45the risk for damaging wind
09:48south texas coastline, es
09:51on southbound. And what w
09:54concerned about is the ri
09:57and the particular concer
10:00the steering winds in the
10:03down quite a lot, this st
10:06move in parts of southea
10:09produce a very significan
10:12in those areas. So that's
10:15moment. We're just raisin
10:17that people are aware of
10:19coming days. It's somethi
10:20to the actual weather for
10:23to refine that here over
10:26impacts. Brittany would l
10:29sunday night or more like
10:31So it's a long way out, b
10:33have this on their radar,
10:36that they can start their
10:39and be aware of this thre
10:41we head into the U. S. Ho
10:43people are understandably
10:46or thinking about other t
10:48important to be aware tha
10:51and stay tuned to later a
10:53be best prepared and keep
10:56Everyone definitely needs
10:58their eye out, especially
11:00weekend and into next wee
11:03Thank you so much. We are
11:05to our friends at Accuwea
11:08these insights. Good to b
11:11everybody stays informed.
