01:21The championship leader extends his lead Karen Irwin wins the sprint race at Donington
01:32Race three is underway Danny Kholaq, poor position a really good start from Leintout
01:38Happy inside goes the reigning champion Tommy Bridwell on the hopping
01:43He's going to go, he is, he's through.
01:46Fair here, comes on the outside, Tommy Bridewell, they're side by side.
01:49Yeah, it was a little bit of a scrappy affair, that.
01:54Through pops Jason O'Halloran!
01:56And Sid Stafford now in!
01:58And saying thanks for the match, I love that one.
02:02Good looking wall, O'Halloran!
02:04He takes the prisoners, and Danny Kensin on the action as well on the MR!
02:09Through into third, this is fantastic!
02:14This has been a barnstormer!
02:16And here comes Owen!
02:18Up the inside of Tommy Bridewell!
02:21No! Bridewell bites back!
02:25What's going on? It's crazy!
02:30Out of the last corner, it's O'Halloran that wins the cracker!
02:33And second goes to Tommy!
02:37That's one of the best shots I've ever seen.
02:39That was incredible, incredible drama.
02:43Wow!
02:49What a sensational round of Bennett's British Superbikes we had last time out at Donington Park.
02:53Welcome to Scotland for highlights of round four,
02:57where Glenn Owen arrives as the championship leader,
02:59a 13 point advantage at the top of the standings.
03:02But his big rival from last year, Tommy Bridewell,
03:05looking stronger by the week on the Honda,
03:08and setting pole position here for race one,
03:10which took place in just about dry conditions after a downpour on Saturday afternoon.
03:15Here's what happened with Steve Day.
03:20Bennett's BSB travels north for round four of the championship in 2024.
03:27The sun shines down on this Knock Hill circuit.
03:32Round four of 2024 is underway!
03:36Shooting through comes Tommy Bridewell.
03:41Glenn Owen there trying to challenge his brother Andy,
03:44and he's got up on the inside line there, the number two on the Ducati.
03:48Tommy Bridewell, though, is absolutely out of here.
03:53Andy Owen not letting his brother out of sight.
03:56Glenn keeps making little bits of mistake.
04:00That was a nice move from Robert Skinner, but on the cutback,
04:03here comes low elbows from Christian Hidden.
04:07Oh, that's England.
04:08Oh, and the marshall's taking a tumble as well.
04:11Andy Owen is up in the second.
04:13What a good duel this is.
04:18Oh, he's going to get it stopped, he is.
04:21Andy looks for the cutback.
04:23Oh, they're side by side, the two brothers there!
04:25Look at that!
04:26Shutting the door on Vic Brown, and Rory comes through,
04:29and Glenn's having none of it.
04:32Oh, he's going to have a look, he's got the inside line.
04:35Oh, Glenn Owen is just not set.
04:37That was beautiful from Robert Skinner.
04:39How has he pulled that?
04:40I did not see that bit as clean as it was.
04:47Oh, that's Christian Hidden and I think that's Vic,
04:50because I don't know what's happened between them,
04:52but that's the pair of them.
04:53Yeah, they're both down.
04:54Oh, here comes Rory.
04:56Up the inside, nicely done.
04:58He doesn't run wide, he's got it nailed.
05:04Is that smoke coming out of the back of Owen's bike?
05:07Yes, it is.
05:09The black and orange flag is already being shown to number two.
05:13Glenn Owen, he can't see what's happened.
05:15He's got his arms in the air, but he'll be told shortly
05:18what's gone wrong.
05:19This has been one of the finest solo rides we've seen in BSP
05:24in some time.
05:26Tommy Bridewell, the reigning champion,
05:29greens the field here at Notkilla.
05:34What a ride from the champ.
05:39So, brilliant.
05:40Bridewell opens his account then for 2024,
05:43but as you can see, conditions very different
05:45when they land up on the track.
05:46for Race 2 on Sunday lunchtime.
05:48Here's what happened in the company of James Whitton
05:51and Steve Day.
05:53Rory Skinner on home turf.
05:55Can he pick up his first ever Bennett BSP win here?
05:58He looked good in warm-up.
06:00We're waiting for the green flag to wave at the back,
06:02and there it is.
06:03You can see number two there, Glenn Owen,
06:05with so much work to do over 20 laps.
06:07We're ready to go racing here.
06:09A great crowd, considering the weather,
06:11and it's lights out.
06:13And away we go for the second race.
06:15Immediately, everyone bolting over to the right-hand side,
06:17trying to get the whole shot down into Turn 1.
06:19Another good start from Andy Irwin.
06:21Tommy Bridewell just has the whole shot down into Duffus.
06:24Danny Kent with a good one as well.
06:26Rory Skinner around the outside window.
06:28Ooh, that's Luke Hedger just going on the green paint there,
06:31but it looks like he's just about all right.
06:33No room there for Andy Irwin.
06:35Yeah, he just managed to stay off the painted kerb as well,
06:38which you would want to do.
06:40Just coming through the chicane there.
06:42It's quite a grippy kerb, that.
06:44You still have to be a bit careful.
06:46Oh, and Andy Irwin is down.
06:48Andy Irwin has crashed out then.
06:50He was in third place, and there's already a gap building,
06:53and Rory Skinner here challenging Tommy Bridewell
06:55on the approach to the hairpin.
06:57This will get the crowd going.
06:59On the number 11 BMW, Rory Skinner leads into the hairpin.
07:02Yeah, he's got to stop.
07:03You've got to watch it down there.
07:05The puddles start to develop just on that entry into the hairpin.
07:08Skinner then leads here.
07:10The rider from Perth, number 11 on the BMW from Tommy Bridewell.
07:14Look at all that spray.
07:16Yeah, and that's one of the problems for the rider.
07:18It doesn't matter how well you treat your visor.
07:20Oh, and that's a sketchy move.
07:23Yeah, you want to keep off that paint.
07:25That's a little warning for him.
07:27A bit deep, wasn't he, into turn one.
07:29And you said visibility.
07:31Honestly, there's so much spray,
07:33you can't see if you're further back than about third or fourth.
07:37Oh, yeah.
07:39Unlucky.
07:40Rear coming round on Andy Irwin.
07:41Then it's not to be.
07:42Back-to-back podiums for the Northern Irishman.
07:45Here is Rory Skinner then.
07:46He leads from Tommy Bridewell.
07:47He's hidden in third.
07:48And Danny Peck in fourth.
07:49Mainstorm Stacey.
07:51In fifth.
07:52A good start for him.
07:53Glenn Irwin at the end of that first lap.
07:5517th place.
07:56Yeah, and I expect him to barge his way through
07:59in a little bit of a way.
08:00It's not as bad as it could have been for Glenn,
08:02because it is...
08:04That's Lewis Romo.
08:05A flying Scotsman on the Iron Competition of Prilia,
08:08who loves conditions like this,
08:09and not kill going for a couple of places.
08:11Yeah, most of the Scots will know this place.
08:14But look at that.
08:15Trying to see through this spray is unreal.
08:18Can you imagine being next to a wagon on the motorway,
08:21heavy rain, that's doing 170 miles an hour,
08:23the amount of spray?
08:24And that's just about what they're dealing with here.
08:26That's Glenn Irwin just picking up another place there.
08:28He moves up into 16th.
08:29Yeah, I was saying that Glenn Irwin,
08:30it's not as bad as it could be.
08:31If this was a drying track with a damp line
08:34and a wet outside that,
08:35you'd have to go off that damp line
08:37and pass it if you're not.
08:38This is all wet,
08:39so he's got just as much grip off-line as he has on-line.
08:42To give you an idea of how good the grip is here
08:45at Knock Hill in the wet,
08:47a 52.9 for Skinner in soggy conditions.
08:51He's upset.
08:52He's crashed out in the number 22
08:54after his victory at Donington Park.
08:56He looks pretty grumpy about it as well,
08:58but Rory Skinner at the moment
08:59is loving life out front.
09:01Yeah, I know these bikes have a lot of power
09:03and they go down the straights quick.
09:05However, if you're on a track day,
09:07to get less than a minute,
09:09you are cracking on,
09:10and this is the pouring, pouring down rain
09:12at the 2052.
09:14Really good ride so far from Storm Stacey there,
09:16number 79.
09:20Championship leader coming into this race.
09:22It might not be that way at the end of it.
09:25Oh!
09:26Oh!
09:27He's got to be on the ground.
09:30Avoid the grass.
09:31Yeah, and if you get on the grass in this condition,
09:33you've got the subway even bogging.
09:36Let's have a look at that one there.
09:38From Cook, just in the background there.
09:40Tooks the white line.
09:41Yeah, that's what it was.
09:43Tooks the kerb in, less grip,
09:44up the throttle, away it went.
09:46It's going to be one less place for Glenn Owen to worry about.
09:48Rory Skinner leads with that beautiful riding style
09:51on the Cheshire Mouldings BMW.
09:52Then it's Idan.
09:53There's Bridewell and Danny Kent.
09:54They drop now down into Duffersteep,
09:56turn one and not kill.
09:58Now on lap eight on 20.
10:03Josh Brooks struggling a little
10:04in these conditions at the moment.
10:05They're 14th and 15th.
10:07It's not often you'd say that about those two.
10:10Oh, he just never had any luck, does he?
10:15He's turning the bike off,
10:16turning it back on,
10:17trying to get it fired up,
10:18trying to reset everything.
10:19Doesn't seem to be working.
10:21And now he's pushing back.
10:23It's not been a pleasant visit to Scotland
10:25for Leon Haslam, I'm afraid.
10:27I'll remind you, Skinner never had a PSB win.
10:30There is Lee Bob Jackson just going through,
10:33but unfortunately going a bit heavy into the hairpin
10:35on Lewis Rollo.
10:36Yep, Lewis on the V4.
10:38Brilliant.
10:39Oh, there's Kent.
10:40That's Danny Kent, I think it is,
10:42looking through the gloom.
10:44Going onto his Bridewell.
10:47And changes things again in the championship
10:49as well as he takes a lot of gap there.
10:51Tommy Bridewell looking to retaliate.
10:53He's got that inside line.
10:54That's right.
10:55Danny Kent couldn't hold the throttle when he was on the kerb.
10:57He knew that and that cost him time down that back straight.
10:59So through he goes on Kent.
11:01Clark's now around his lops and we approach the hairpin.
11:04Danny Kent's going to have another look up the inside
11:06on the approach to the hairpin.
11:08Is that Keenum going through?
11:09I think Danny Kent thinks he can go quicker
11:11than he was going behind Bridewell.
11:13He thinks he can get with the...
11:14And you can see that Skinner isn't pulling away
11:18and I think that's what prompted Danny Kent to do that.
11:20Fastest lap of the race from your race leader,
11:22Rory Skinner at 51.948.
11:28Laps tick down here and Skinner riding brilliantly.
11:31It has been quite a good few weeks for the TAS Racing team.
11:34The Chisholm Maltese BMW as well, remember?
11:36Look at Danny Kent's lap time this last lap
11:38because he's had almost a full lap in front of Bridewell
11:42and I think he was keen to get past
11:44because he felt he could go quicker.
11:46He does at 51.7, James.
11:48Danny Kent, the fastest man on circuit.
11:50Peter Hickman, who had a gearbox issue yesterday,
11:52has entered pit lane.
11:54That's the end of the FTO Racing BMW Riders race here.
11:57So Danny Kent, the man with the speed.
12:00I spoke to him before the race started.
12:02He said he was very, very confident
12:04in his wet weather settings,
12:06both on the bike and the tyres and everything else.
12:08So I'm looking forward to it.
12:10The problem is, it is easy to get hooked up behind somebody
12:13that you can't see where you're going or spraying,
12:15which is why we need to get past Bridewell there.
12:18We're on lap 14 of 20.
12:20Looking there at the top left corner
12:22at the Cheshire Mouldings BMW Garage.
12:24You can see the team there, including his crew chief,
12:26Stuart Shenton, looking on.
12:29Yeah, Stuart, one of the most experienced mechanics,
12:32crew chiefs, technicians in the paddock.
12:35Worked for Suzuki GP for a long time,
12:37both on two-strokes and four-strokes.
12:39Knows his stuff and a lovely lap on Bloke's capital lap.
12:44A lad his age and mature,
12:46but a cracking technician.
12:49Skinner's got half a second on it.
12:51And this is Danny Kent in third,
12:53trying to reel in the top two in front.
12:55Yeah, I think Danny Kent rushed at it a bit
12:57when he got clear air in front of him.
12:59Saw the two in front going away,
13:01and I think he made a couple of mistakes with his lap time,
13:03dropped off a bit last time round.
13:04Skinner had a bit of a wobble there on the start-finish straight.
13:06There's Storm Stacey, having a really good run out.
13:08He's in fifth at the moment,
13:10and then just being followed by Fraser Rodgers
13:12and Charlie Nesbitt.
13:13These two know each other very well indeed.
13:15They come from the same part of the country.
13:17They've raced each other since they were kids,
13:19and they're having a proper ding-dong here
13:21for sixth and seventh spot.
13:23Yeah.
13:24Charlie Nesbitt and Max Cook and Fraser Rodgers
13:27are all from the same part of the world.
13:30Billy McConnell having a good run as well, the Aussie.
13:32He's in eighth ahead of Glenn Irwin,
13:34and then it's Jackson Cook.
13:35Marlow is now 12th ahead of Brooks and Kyle Wright.
13:40Fraser Rodgers yesterday saying,
13:42a couple of wet races, please.
13:44That will do for me.
13:46And at the moment, he's on for his best finish of the season so far,
13:50if he can hold it there in seventh place.
13:56Laps are counting down here at Knock Hill for race two.
13:59A really good crowd, and there is your race lead.
14:01Still coming under a bit of pressure here from Christian Iden.
14:04Yes, he is.
14:06I think Christian's fancy this.
14:08Look who's really caught now.
14:10Danny Kent, he's obviously put a good, clean couple of laps together,
14:13and he's right on them now.
14:15Rory will be keeping an eye on his pit boards.
14:17He's completely broken away from Tommy Bridewell.
14:19Is there a bit of drama here at Knock Hill?
14:22Not long left in this second race.
14:24It's 20 laps, remember, we're on lap 16 at the moment.
14:27Skinner doing an Alfred Hidden briefing.
14:29Closer, it seems, on this lap,
14:31and Danny Kent is reeling them in.
14:34Oh, that's gone a bit too hard.
14:36It looked like Danny Kent has as well.
14:38He's down.
14:39Danny was catching the lead in two,
14:41and he's furious with himself more than anything else.
14:44Set the fastest lap of the race last time round and was pushing on.
14:48Mistakes from both Iden, who had to go straight on,
14:52and look at that.
14:53That's a little bit lucky for Danny Kent.
14:55I think his eye was taken off the board by Christian Hidden,
14:57just having to avoid the back end of Skinner.
15:01This works out well for Bridewell.
15:03He goes up to third, and that helps him out in the championship,
15:06and it's given Rory Skinner a bit of breathing space as well out front,
15:09but there's traffic up ahead there.
15:10That's Louis Vallelida coming up on.
15:12Yeah, well, Christian Hidden will be hoping that that'll affect and slow down Skinner.
15:16I don't think it will.
15:17You want to get into the back markers first, if you can,
15:19and give you a little bit of a choice in where you get past him.
15:21That pushes Bridewell up to third.
15:23Storm Stacey on for a personal best fourth in BSB.
15:26That would be brilliant for him.
15:28Championship as it starts again.
15:31That's it.
15:32Now, that is his chance, as you would feel, gone,
15:34of trying to pick up a victory here.
15:36Yeah, second better than the gravel, I think.
15:38We start lap 18.
15:40Rory Skinner here.
15:41We'll have to just deal with Vallelida carefully.
15:44Is he going to make that move?
15:46Does he know he's got time?
15:47Probably not yet.
15:48That's the question, and he's going for it,
15:50and he zips up Louis.
15:51Hello, Louis.
15:52He's pushed him off into the gravel.
15:54Yeah, well.
15:56An unfortunate one, that, for Louis Vallelida.
15:58It is absolutely.
15:59Skinner, like you said, has no idea.
16:01He wouldn't know he had, what, three seconds lead at that point.
16:05As it stands, later on this afternoon,
16:07Danny Kirkwood will be on pole position.
16:09This is the move there from Skinner,
16:11just going through on Louis Vallelida.
16:13It was a late move.
16:14Louis didn't know he was there.
16:15He sees him there, sits up, sees him in his peripheral.
16:19But at that point, he's going.
16:21You can't just hit the brakes, because you'd go down,
16:23and you can't just lean the bike over to stay on the track,
16:27because you'd go down also.
16:29Two laps to go, then, for Rory Skinner.
16:31He's inching closer and closer.
16:33First ever Bennett's BSB race victory.
16:36He's been through the middle the last couple of years.
16:38Moved over to Moto2, of course.
16:41Was supposed to be in Moto2 this year,
16:44but the contract, obviously, doesn't really mean
16:46what the pace record is and what it's meant for.
16:48No, it doesn't.
16:49And what it did mean for us was that he made his move
16:52over here.
16:53He had a horrible crash at Alton Park,
16:55where his helmet came off.
16:57And what a dent to the start of the season that was.
17:00But he's back in business.
17:01It's tipping down with rain.
17:02Yeah.
17:03And it's home circuit.
17:04But he's just, what, a lap and a corner away from victory.
17:08Well, look at his vehicle now.
17:09If that were me, I'd be hanging over the pit wall,
17:11slowing him down, waving my arms around,
17:13just letting him know he's got lots and lots of space.
17:15He doesn't have to do anything silly.
17:17A big pop of air taken there from Steve Plaiter
17:19as he watches on anxiously.
17:211.2 miles left for Rory Skinner,
17:24and he's still got a bit of traffic to deal with here
17:26as we start the final lap of Race 2.
17:28Yeah, but he's got time to do it,
17:29and he'll probably know that now.
17:31His pit board will have surely given him the information
17:34that all is well.
17:35Rory Skinner, then, what a moment.
17:37This is going to be for the 22-year-old from Perth.
17:40A brilliant second place yesterday
17:42from 8th on the grid on a trying circuit.
17:44That's Van Sickelrus just up ahead of him.
17:46And he knows.
17:47He's got his arm in the air.
17:48He knows what's happening.
17:49He'll get well out of the way.
17:51And a little thank you there from Rory Skinner.
17:53Yeah, that means Rory's not pushing on it.
17:55He thinks he's got time to do that.
17:57The crowd will stand as they approach the final hairpin.
18:00It's just one corner to go.
18:02And what a return to business.
18:04This is for the Scotsman here on home turf.
18:08Rory Skinner, then, climbs up the hill,
18:10and he's finally a BSB race winner in his own backyard.
18:14Skinner wins it here,
18:15and it's a proper battle here on the line for second place.
18:18Who's going to get it?
18:19Oh, that's close.
18:20Oh, it says Iden on the screens just.
18:23Yes, just.
18:24But not a lot in it.
18:25That'll be a photo finish between Iden and Bridewell.
18:28There is Glenn Irwin.
18:29How much ground has he lost?
18:30Stacey took an excellent fourth ahead of Nesbitt.
18:32Rogers, McConnell seventh.
18:34Glenn Irwin from the back of the grid will take eighth place.
18:42Here are the results, then, of race two.
18:44Rory Skinner is a BSB winner, finally.
18:46He wins it from Christian Iden and Tommy Bridewell.
18:48Storm Stacey was fourth.
18:49Nesbitt fifth.
18:50Sixth for Rogers.
18:51Brilliant results for them.
18:52Likewise for McConnell.
18:53From the back of the grid, Irwin is eighth.
18:55Jackson ninth.
18:56Then, Cook, Rollo, and Brooks.
18:58Danny Buchan, Kyle Ryde, and Luke Hedger
19:00take the final points ahead of Tom Neate.
19:06A bit of a change, then, in the standings.
19:08And after ten races,
19:10Tommy Bridewell, the reigning champion,
19:12leads overall with a number one plate on.
19:15Two points up on his old teammate, Glenn Irwin.
19:18Danny Kent crashed out there.
19:19That's costly.
19:20He's 14th adrift in third, with Kyle Ryde in fourth.
19:23Rory Skinner has launched himself onto the first page.
19:25With that victory, he's 12th ahead of Max Cook.
19:28Andy Irwin was a faller there as well.
19:30He's 14th overall ahead of Fraser Rogers and Storm Stacey.
19:37And we'll bring in Rory Skinner,
19:39new British Superbike winner, may I just add.
19:44And, of course, you couldn't have chosen a better venue to do it.
19:47Your own backyard, and it looked as though
19:49you were absolutely using every bit of your knowledge.
19:52Coming out of the hairpin, you're fantastic.
19:54I don't really have words at the minute, Amy.
19:56It's not sunken.
19:57Just to do it at home, my first win at home,
19:59is truly special, you know.
20:01Every year I come here, everybody's like,
20:02oh, that wind's coming for you, Rory.
20:04You're going to do it in Notkell.
20:05So much pressure.
20:06But this weekend, I've just kind of chilled out, relaxed,
20:08and almost just treated it as if it's a club meeting, really.
20:11You know, just chilled out in my van,
20:12go and see my mates.
20:14Here we are on the top step of the podium.
20:16I'm so happy.
20:17Yeah, just massive thank you to all the boys
20:19at Cheshire Moans BMW Taz Racing.
20:21We've worked really hard this year,
20:23and I'm glad to finally start getting them
20:24some results that they deserve.
20:25Rory, congratulations.
20:27You absolutely deserve it.
20:28Well done.
20:29Thank you.
20:32Brilliant scenes then for Rory Skinner,
20:35and great that those guys had a bit to play as well.
20:38And maybe we'll be singing along
20:40to the Flower of Scotland later on.
20:42Race two winner here at Notkell, Rory Skinner.
20:48So Rory Skinner, a VSB winner at last then and where else
20:51but at his home circuit of Notkell.
20:54A masterful performance in the wet.
20:56After the break, we'll show you if you could back it up
20:59in race three.
21:00Welcome back to Notkell for highlights
21:02of round four of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship
21:05where Tommy Bridewell took a win in race one
21:07and a podium in race two to take the lead
21:10at the top of the standings.
21:11Let's find out if he could hold on to it
21:13in race three with James Whittam and Steve Day.
21:19Two points in the lead of the championship.
21:21The reigning champ, Bridewell, lights out
21:24as they head down to 1.10.
21:26Rocket start for Rory Skinner, number 11 on the BMW.
21:29Or is it?
21:30Because through comes Danny Kent to lead on the McCamshire.
21:33Hidden is in third.
21:34Bridewell's in fourth.
21:35That's Billy McConnell immediately up to fifth.
21:37It's tight there.
21:38Through turn three and Skinner retakes the lead.
21:40Yeah, that's unlucky for Danny Kent.
21:43Storm Stacey.
21:44Storm Stacey on the grass and in the gravel.
21:46Not what he wanted at a cracking right early on today.
21:49Danny Kent needed to be right at the front of this race.
21:52I think he's suffering from not being able to run his own lines.
21:55Clearly had the pace, that's why he went off pole.
21:57I think he suffered in that first couple of corners.
21:59Danny Kent.
22:00Oh, that's a little wide.
22:02And then there's a twitch from the rear.
22:03He gets around his lap.
22:04Skinner that leads up to the hairpin.
22:06Christian Hidden in second.
22:07Tommy Bridewell on the Honda in third.
22:09Billy McConnell in fourth.
22:11Good job Bilbo.
22:13Oh, it's tight there for Glenn Irwin.
22:14He was sandwiched in between a couple of riders around the hairpin.
22:17We come over the line then to complete lap one.
22:191.3 mile circuit.
22:20A short lap here at Notkill.
22:22Skinner leads from Hidden.
22:24Bridewell. McConnell.
22:25Kent.
22:26Nesbitt on Fraser Rogers.
22:29Both of them having very impressive races earlier on today.
22:32Yep.
22:33Fraser Rogers known as a wet weather rider.
22:35Spud Nesbitt not.
22:37But Charlie's really getting to grips with a great ride earlier today.
22:41I would like to advise everyone with the soft wet option.
22:45Skinner leads then from Hidden.
22:47Hidden asked questions in race one,
22:49but had a few hiccups mechanically in the latter stages.
22:53Can he put that right?
22:54Bit of a moment there for Skinner.
22:55That might be the door open for Christian Hidden to have a look.
22:58Yeah, I think Christian Hidden's going to have really good pace.
23:00Keeps going underneath him.
23:01Up he goes up inside.
23:03Little bit of a block pass.
23:04But clean.
23:05Makes that late apex.
23:06Nothing Rory Skinner could do about that.
23:08Good move.
23:09Christian Hidden then it is that leads.
23:11Number 21 over the line.
23:12Four podiums so far in 2024 for Christian Hidden.
23:15He's only 25 points down in the championship.
23:17Yeah, and he's been a little bit unlucky.
23:19Got wiped out by Ryan Vickers.
23:22Exactly just there where they are now.
23:24As Bridewell cuts through underneath Rory Skinner.
23:28And that's the corner that we thought Rory Skinner was really impressive at
23:32in the race earlier today.
23:34How good is this to see as well in fourth?
23:36Just closing in on the top three.
23:38That is Max Cook.
23:40It has been a bit of a miserable weekend for him.
23:43Yeah, it has.
23:44Max Cook here at Knockill.
23:45I think he'll be quite glad to see the back of Scotland.
23:47Great run from that man.
23:49McConnell, you wouldn't expect him that high up on the bank.
23:52Excellent ride so far from the Aussie.
23:54It's Hidden that leads from Bridewell Skinner.
23:58So, as we exit the hairpin over the line, it's still Hidden in the background there.
24:02Leon Haslam in a scrap with Charlie Nesbitt and Fraser Rodgers.
24:06Haslam not quite had the weekend he wanted.
24:08Number 91 at BMW.
24:10There he is.
24:12Ahead of 86 Nesbitt and 89 Rodgers.
24:15Then there's a big gap back to Andy Irwin and Danny Buchan.
24:19Below 11th, Jackson.
24:20I mean, Irwin at the moment isn't going to...
24:23It doesn't look like he's even going to challenge for the top eight or nine.
24:27Struggling here.
24:28Been a disaster for his championship coming to Scotland.
24:31Especially when you consider he had two wins here last year as well.
24:35Yeah.
24:36Lucky not to have the treble here last year.
24:44And Fraser Rodgers still at it.
24:48Fraser Rodgers with that inside line on the tag Honda but closing the door on him there.
24:51No.
24:52He's got through.
24:54He is going to cut back there side by side once more.
24:56Fraser Rodgers and Charlie Nesbitt.
24:58Both of them in brilliant positions here.
25:01Side by side over the line.
25:02This is the battle for second place.
25:07Hang on, hang on.
25:09And we're on at the moment.
25:11Yeah, all he takes is a little tickle of the handlebars of the front wheel
25:14and you'd be off your bike.
25:17Oh, no.
25:20That just caps off what has been a disastrous weekend.
25:23Yeah.
25:24I think that the carousel...
25:26Yeah.
25:27Yeah.
25:28He was making great progress from the back of the grid.
25:31But unfortunately, his day is over and both O'Halloran and Max Cook here
25:36will kiss goodbye to not kill and now hope for better things to come.
25:42Yeah.
25:43Down the M6.
25:44Just wanted to forget the weekend, wasn't it?
25:46I think so.
25:47It has not been one to remember.
25:49Over the line though at the moment.
25:50It's still Eden that leads from Brightwell.
25:52There's a Marshall running there.
25:53That's still to deal with.
25:54Oh, O'Halloran.
25:55They would have been way jealous there.
25:59There is Skinner, number 11, the winner from earlier on.
26:02Kent, number 52, just behind him.
26:04You have to be thinking, Skinner will be thinking,
26:06what a weekend.
26:08You know, it's like the game show when they've won some money
26:11and they have to gamble.
26:12They say, no, no, I've had a good weekend.
26:14I'll take the cash.
26:17We'll see if that's still the case in 20 laps time.
26:20All right.
26:25Lap 10 of 30.
26:26And again, Wave Jello still down at the hairpins.
26:29So they all stay aligned for now.
26:31Billy McConnell there, closing in.
26:33Billy's really pushing.
26:35You can tell that.
26:36He's run wide a couple of times.
26:37And he's a rider who is really prepared to push on
26:39if he thinks there's something at the end of it.
26:42Oh, if there's something on here, then there is absolutely no doubt.
26:45He knows how to unhinge a kitchen sink.
26:48Yeah, he does.
26:50He does.
26:51Yeah.
26:52You make that all the time.
26:54I like that.
26:58That has been rolled out a few times, to be fair.
27:00Especially when it comes to Billy.
27:02Right, over the chicane we go.
27:04It's Idan, number 21, that leads.
27:05I think Danny Kent's made a bit of a mistake at some point there.
27:10Last lap was not bad.
27:11But I think the beginning of the lap we're on,
27:13I think he's made a mistake.
27:14He's dropped back a little bit.
27:16The top five in general seem to be a class above the rest at the moment.
27:19Haslam in the background, trying to close in on them.
27:22Then it's Rogers, Nesbitt, Andy Irwin.
27:25Haslam's a second off.
27:27Yeah, he's a second off a lap.
27:29Glenn Irwin's progress is not really going quite as he would hope.
27:34He's in 12th at the moment.
27:37Skinner inches a bit closer there to McConnell.
27:42And in the process, this is the fastest rider on circuit.
27:4452 flat.
27:47Yeah, it's an indication.
27:48You've said it in other classes.
27:50James Hayden's mentioned it.
27:51If you are lapping with 110% of a dry or lap record time,
27:56you know that the circuit has grip in the wet.
27:59These are incredible times.
28:00And it's not possible.
28:02You've got to be a brilliant rider like all these riders are.
28:05It's not possible if the grip isn't there.
28:07This is a good circuit, by the way.
28:09A bit out of shape there.
28:10That might just give an opportunity to Rory Skinner.
28:12But he's going to have to go the long way if he's going to get it done.
28:14And he decides that is probably not a good idea.
28:17Remember, all these bikes are on a controlled ECU.
28:19It's all a Motec system.
28:21And there's no active traction control allowed.
28:24There's lots of electronic things you can do.
28:26You can damp power down in certain corners at certain places in certain gears.
28:30But what you can't do is have an active traction control system
28:33where the bike figures out if it's sliding and stops it.
28:36So once these bikes start spinning,
28:38you've got to then relieve the throttle to get it going.
28:42Kyle Rydes.
28:43Not the weekend he wanted from the moment we got here with food poisoning.
28:47And wet weather riding may be just not quite his thing at the moment.
28:50No, you wouldn't have to think that.
28:52Storm Stacey, of course, on the gravel.
28:54And he's making great progress now.
28:56A fine ride.
28:57He's out of the 16th.
28:59Yeah, Storm, big, lanky lad.
29:01Very confident in everything he does, Storm.
29:03The UMG Yamaha team have lost ground in the championship this weekend.
29:07Up to the hairpin we go.
29:08Back to start lap 14 of 30.
29:11Meanwhile, Christian Iden is just going about his business.
29:14Lap on lap.
29:15Best lap again.
29:16Another fastest lap last time round.
29:18And then this lap, within a couple of tenths of it, is very, very consistent.
29:22Yeah, we're on the brink of 51s in the wet.
29:25There was a time here at Notkill when you'd be happy with that in a dry.
29:28Honestly, I don't even want to see it.
29:34Oh!
29:35Come on, Billy.
29:38Still, the nature of Notkill means that he holds on to his position.
29:42Yeah, no way through there, even though he lost a lot of pace there.
29:46There was nothing Rory could do without getting involved in the same incident.
29:50You can just see as well, he's got sort of a damp line and the rest of the circuit wet.
29:55And so when riders are making moves, they're just running over the spray.
29:58But Skinner knows he's got to make a move here.
30:00Or Billy McConnell, and he does.
30:02Yeah.
30:03Now he's going to try and track down Iden and Bridewell up ahead.
30:07It's been a long time coming that.
30:09He will not want Billy McConnell coming back through on him.
30:11But you know what you're getting with Billy McConnell?
30:13And that is retaliation.
30:14Yeah, I don't think he's quite got the straight line speed to trouble Rory down at a Turn 1.
30:21But whatever happens now, this is still a...
30:24Danny?
30:25Yeah, nice steady safe move from Danny.
30:28I think he had to do it.
30:29He sees himself as having pace to go with Rory Skinner.
30:33And I think he has.
30:34But whatever happens now, we're just going to say this has been some ride by Billy McConnell.
30:38Not easy to do what he's doing.
30:41Looking on for Christian.
30:43You've got Harvey Beltran there and Chuck McGuinness watching on for Tommy Bridewell.
30:48And the entire TAS Racing team keeping a close eye on Rory to see if he can make it a double here.
30:54And since they've got through on Billy, you can visibly see that that has helped them out.
30:58Can they reel in Iden and Bridewell at the front of the race?
31:01We're going to find out what Rory Skinner's got now because he's got clear track in front of him.
31:06He was marginally quicker than the two ahead of him.
31:08Funnily enough, Leon Haslam was the fastest rider on circuit that last lap around.
31:12The rider in 6th place.
31:14Looking back there to Luke Hedger, who's having a really good ride.
31:17This is potentially going to be three points finishes for the weekend for Hedger.
31:22Rollo just behind him, the leading pathway rider.
31:24And Stacey, who was demoted to the back of the field when he went gravel tracking earlier on.
31:30He got front of it.
31:31Well, I'm pretty sure that was his best ever BSP result earlier on, 4th place.
31:35Yes, I think so.
31:40Stacey looking to put a move on the Aprilia RSV4 up ahead of him.
31:44The high-end competition machine.
31:45Back to Kellrus, pulls into pit lane at the end of his race.
31:48Oh, that's Billy McConnell.
31:50Yeah, that is McConnell.
31:51McConnell then, having a bit of an issue down at the hairpin.
31:55He's running too hot, maybe missed a gear, maybe missed a downshift.
31:58Let's have a look at what happened.
32:00Yeah, too hot.
32:01Yeah, no, he's lost the front.
32:02And honestly, to have the reaction to let the front brake off when you've got a lock is unbelievable.
32:10You've got a millisecond.
32:12If not, the thing just will not come back.
32:14You are down the road.
32:16Well, that has allowed Leon Haslam through into 5th place.
32:19And Haslam again, really good lap from him.
32:21Out front, it's Iden still ahead of Tommy Bridewell.
32:25Then a gap back to Skinner.
32:27Can they feel it?
32:29Or is it too late?
32:31Christian Iden has managed this race wonderfully so far.
32:34Yes, absolutely.
32:36Doing a jinx here, but no mistake.
32:38Hit his mark.
32:39At the front, you've got the luxury of a minute.
32:41I see we're going a little bit better.
32:42Spray's less of a problem now than it was.
32:45There's less line water.
32:46I should just say, I'm running out of things to say about Tommy Bridewell's season so far
32:52as he's on course here for another podium.
32:56We start lap 18 of 30.
32:58Bridewell here on the brink of six podiums on the front of Honda.
33:02The last time that happened in British Superbike?
33:06Alex Lowe's in 2013.
33:08There you go.
33:09If Tommy Bridewell puts the bike on the podium,
33:12that's the last time a Honda 6 in a single season can take it to podiums.
33:16He's also the first Honda rider to win at Knock Hill since Michael Assi back in 2012.
33:23He's doing great things on the Honda.
33:26There's no doubt that Tommy Bridewell has clicked with that Honda.
33:30None of us thought he was going to be.
33:32Not that we didn't think he had talent.
33:34It's just that, would he gel with the Honda?
33:36Would he work with the team?
33:37It's a factory team.
33:38They've really been in a factory team and that's a little bit different
33:41in terms of the sort of dynamic and how people work.
33:44He has clicked with them, he's clicked with the bike
33:47and he's been magnificent all year on it.
33:49There is Daddy Bucket.
33:51Number 83 on the downracing Kawasaki just behind Andy Irwin.
33:54Yeah, I'm really pleased for Andy.
33:55He's earned his first podium in a long time.
33:57And there's Glenn.
33:58Yeah, my little brother.
33:59And look at how he can PBM Ducati.
34:01I hate to say it because I said there would be nothing like a dry line in this race.
34:05But look at that.
34:06That is almost a dry line down here at Dufferstig Turn 1.
34:10Still damp-ish, but it's getting there.
34:14Trying to put a move on Maury Skinner.
34:16Eager to get through.
34:17He doesn't want to lose sight of the race leaders
34:19and he knows he's got to make a move and he does make a move.
34:21But so late on the brakes there with Skinner.
34:24Yeah, I think Skinner sort of sensed he was there.
34:27That is the point that Danny Kent threw it down the road
34:30in the race earlier today.
34:31So he'll be aware of that.
34:32He certainly didn't push himself out as wide going in with the brakes on.
34:36Yeah, they are just gradually, tenth by tenth, losing sight of it.
34:39And then Bridewell and Kent can maybe sense that.
34:42Is he going to line up a move here?
34:43Yes, he is.
34:44He likes that move.
34:45That was neat down into Turn 3 at McIntyre's.
34:48Danny Kent is off to third.
34:49A little bit, a little bit savage.
34:51You've got to do it when you can.
34:53He's really good into there.
34:54But what it does, it pushes the man you've just overtaken a bit wide
34:58and doesn't allow him to get on the gas and get with you.
35:01That's Andy Irwin.
35:02That's enough.
35:03That's a breakdown, not a crash though.
35:05That's all she wrote for Andy Irwin.
35:07So no return to the podium.
35:09Brandon, no points here today, unfortunately.
35:12He and Honda, garage and team in general, have had a crash this weekend.
35:17No matter what happens now.
35:18Louis Vallely pulls over to one side
35:20and we'll get a good glimpse here with a third of the race left at Christian Idna.
35:24Tommy Bridewell now then.
35:25What can Danny Kent do in third?
35:27Can he reel in the two-hour run?
35:30That gap, two seconds.
35:33Last lap, Kent was, yeah, exactly the same pace as Idna and Bridewell,
35:38but now he's got clear track.
35:40That involved a pass the lap previous.
35:42There is Leon Haslam from 14th on the grid.
35:46He's up to fifth.
35:47Nine places made up.
35:48Then it's McConnell.
35:49There is Fraser Rodgers.
35:50Rodgers is in seventh.
35:52Then behind Rodgers is Danny Buchan
35:55on the Dow Racing Kawasaki in line at the moment
35:57for his result of the season.
35:59Yeah, well, this has always been his best circuit.
36:01He's won races here when he's not really featured that much
36:04in other races everywhere else.
36:06So if he's going to do it, he's going to be here.
36:08There really is a try line starting to appear here.
36:10And not killed.
36:11There's still quite a few laps left here as well.
36:13Not here necessarily on the start-finish straight.
36:16Plenty of spray available.
36:17Let's have a look at Danny Kent's time as they go over the line.
36:19He is just a fraction quicker than Idna and Bridewell up ahead of him.
36:22Yeah, only a tenth though.
36:23But expect him to get quicker.
36:24He's a rider who likes to just ease into things.
36:27This is the try line I'm talking about.
36:29Yeah, me too.
36:30Yeah, he's definitely done it in turn one, turn two and turn three
36:32where most of the dry is.
36:34That's almost dry.
36:36So difficult, these conditions.
36:37You've got to stick to whatever is the driest bit of the track.
36:40If you go in a little bit hot,
36:41you've got to lean over a bit more than you want to.
36:43Oh, Haslam's hand down.
36:45It's been a rotten weekend
36:47and a rotten visit for Leon Haslam.
36:49He's already battered and bruised
36:51and he's as tough as they come.
36:53But I hope he's all right.
36:54Haslam crashes out of fifth place.
36:56Oh, Kent's going here.
36:59He's going.
37:00Up to the hairpin we go.
37:01We'll track that gap from Bridewell to Danny Kent shortly.
37:06And we'll monitor what's happening with Haslam as well.
37:08He's down in the gravel trap.
37:09Yeah, yellow flag is going to be out in overtaking.
37:11But then again, they're not close enough yet.
37:13Yeah, we've got a red flag.
37:14And that is going to be declared a result.
37:16That is a red flag for the crash involving Leon Haslam.
37:20And that's going to be an even win.
37:22And Tommy Bridewell second.
37:24Danny Kent will take third, I think,
37:26because the lap before he got the drop down on Skinner.
37:29We'll look back.
37:30Our concerns here for Leon Haslam.
37:32As he said, he was already battered and bruised, James,
37:34before that crash.
37:35Exactly.
37:36And if he doesn't get up and he looks hurt,
37:38he's got to be hurt because he is the toughest man you will meet.
37:42He's made a steal, is Leon.
37:44He's had some big crashes here at Knock Hill.
37:47And there is another.
37:48He's already done that because he'd already hit the track.
37:50And it's the time that's going to hurt you.
37:53As you said, James, you do not see that very often.
37:55He's back up on his feet, as you would expect Leon Haslam.
37:58But the same thing to do there was to bring out the red flag.
38:00And it's a win then for Christian Iden.
38:02Seven different race winners in 11 races, James.
38:05Yeah, I mean, we always expect a little bit of sort of variety
38:08because the circuits are so diverse.
38:10But there's been more to it than that this year.
38:13Here are the results then from race three.
38:15Three different winners in three races here in Scotland.
38:17Iden is back on the top step for the first time in a long time.
38:21He wins it from Bridewell. Danny Kemp is third.
38:23Skinner fourth, then McConnell in fifth.
38:26Fraser Rodgers, great result for him in sixth.
38:28Best result of the season for Bucket in seventh.
38:30There's Nesbitt. Glenn Owen struggling in ninth.
38:32Lee Jackson tenth. Brooks is eleventh.
38:35And the best result of the season for Hedger.
38:37Good weekend for the Whitecliffe CDH Racing Kawasaki rider.
38:40Stacey, having been in the gravel in the back,
38:42finished 13th ahead of Rollo, leading pathway rider.
38:45Kyle Wright down in 15th.
38:50Glenn Owen came into this weekend championship leader,
38:52but it has all changed.
38:53Tommy Bridewell, the reigning champion,
38:55takes an 11-point lead into Snetterton.
38:58And look at the points there.
39:00Danny Kemp, 16 adrift.
39:01Christian Iden, with that wind change, only 23 down.
39:05The way the points work this year and last year,
39:08you're not going to get away.
39:09You're not going to get these massive gaps this early in the season.
39:12Yeah, unbelievable stuff.
39:14Weekend 13. Fraser Rodgers, points in all races.
39:16He was 14th.
39:18We'll bring in Tommy Bridewell now.
39:22Another weekend with all three races on the podium.
39:26And Tommy, I know you'll probably want to hear
39:29this little fancy fact from our good friend Steve Day.
39:32So your six consecutive podiums on a Honda now
39:36equals Alex Lowe's record from 2013,
39:40continuing to impress on the Honda.
39:43Yeah, thank you, Amy.
39:44And yeah, it's been a fantastic weekend, honestly.
39:48I come into this weekend.
39:49It's such a tough little track, this.
39:52If you're half a temp down, sometimes it can punish you.
39:55But the bikes worked great.
39:57We're on a really good run at the minute,
39:58but it's testament to the hard work of Honda.
40:01I feel like I'm riding great.
40:03Honda are performing to the level that they should
40:06and have been able to.
40:08I'm putting pressure on them.
40:09I must be honest.
40:10Just really raising the bar for everyone involved in here.
40:14Yeah, I feel great.
40:15I feel great in myself.
40:16And honestly, that race was really tough,
40:19really tough conditions.
40:20Started off a lot wetter.
40:21I can remember saying on the grid to Larry Carter,
40:24it's going to become a dry line.
40:26And sure enough, it did.
40:28I could see Christian struggling.
40:29I was struggling.
40:30Honestly, I just watched my board.
40:32I knew what I needed to do this weekend and into that race.
40:36Honestly, I can't stand it.
40:37I had the pace to win the race.
40:39Yes, I would have probably had a little bit more of a dip
40:42with five laps to go, but I didn't get the chance.
40:44And I'm not going to take that away from Rapido and Christian.
40:48He did the hard work there.
40:50He pulled us clear.
40:51So thanks to Honda.
40:53And we'll just continue working.
40:55I'll keep working hard behind the scenes and come back.
40:58And hopefully we'll be even stronger again at Snellton.
41:00It seems to be working.
41:01Congratulations, Tommy.
41:02Well done.
41:03And then we'll bring in our final race winner of the weekend,
41:07Christian Innan.
41:08I remember reading a quote from you where you said,
41:10you described last season as like Cress.
41:12You were there, but not really doing anything.
41:14Well, you're very much here now and absolutely doing everything.
41:18Congratulations.
41:19Yeah, I feel a bit more like egg mayo right now.
41:21So I'm filling that sandwich at the moment.
41:24And this has been probably one of the hardest starts
41:27to a weekend we've had as a team since I joined this team.
41:30It's been so difficult.
41:31And then with being taken out yesterday and then to round out today
41:34with a second and a first is so awesome.
41:37So a huge thanks to them because it's been hard.
41:39And they put a great bike underneath me.
41:41I think conditions then were really difficult for everyone.
41:43As the track dried, the grip went away so badly.
41:46And I was racing my Delta because I didn't really have a reference
41:49other than my board.
41:50And I was losing a lot of time against my best.
41:53So as the track dried, it just got so greasy.
41:55But my board never really came down.
41:57So I realized that everyone behind me was also having the same issues.
42:00Yeah, we managed to maintain it.
42:01I hope Leon's all right.
42:02Because obviously the red flag came out for an incident.
42:04So yeah, I hope Leon's OK.
42:06Because that's the second time he's been down there this weekend.
42:08And it's not nice.
42:09So yeah, thoughts for him.
42:10But yeah, big thanks to the team.
42:11Thanks to all the sponsors and supporters.
42:13And yeah, we're back in the championship hunt again.
42:16Nice touch there from Neil McKenzie as he hands the Steve Hislop
42:19Memorial Tribute to Tommy Bridewell for the fastest lap of the weekend.
42:22He's in charge in the championship.
42:24Well, what a weekend here at Knock Hill.
42:26We've had every kind of weather, a new race winner,
42:29and a new championship leader as well.
42:31Hopefully conditions will be a bit brighter
42:33when we return in three weeks' time for round five at Snetterton.
42:37We'll see you then.
