Shocking videos show devastation left behind by Hurricane Beryl in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The category four storm swept across the island of Carriacou, in Grenada.

Winds of up to 140mph (240kmh) ripped across the island, leaving homes destroyed and trees uprooted.

A hurricane warning is currently in place for Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac.

Pictures taken by Kevin Sexton, 60, show the destruction across the island of Carriacou.

Kevin, a church business director, said: “I've been through a lot of hurricanes living in Florida but this one is extremely significant – it’s the worst I've ever seen, it’s very sad.

“I was on Carriacou - the storm came quicker than we thought across the islands.

“The hurricane came in and took out the north of Granada, destroying the wooden homes - Carriacou airport is down and the only way to get there now is via boat.

“95% of roofs have been torn off, there’s no electricity and the biggest need right now is solar lights, personal hygiene goods, food and water, canned goods and meats.

“I saw people suffering but also the incredible spirit of Granadians and people of Carriacou bonding together and helping each other.

“There’s a lot of devastation, it’s terrible - they’re homeless and it’s shambles all around them.

“Homes have had their roofs ripped off and there’s no electricity and no phones.

“People who have the ability to help can send money, pray for them and encourage them – we need to help people in extreme need.”
