00:03Text cams that are based on investigation have already been used.

00:07Unregistered SIM cards are being used.

00:09Another man was arrested for molesting the victim.

00:13He was even accused of conspiring with the mister.

00:15Witness, Mark Salazar.

00:19His love for the woman he met at the bar,

00:22who went home after being accused of having sex with her,

00:25and the arrest of this man in Cebu City.

00:28When they met at the bar, they had an intimate relationship.

00:32And during their relationship, they had video calls

00:36that, according to the victim's information,

00:38the suspect was recording it.

00:41These are their video calls with sexual activities

00:44or their intimate moments.

00:46The suspect promised to send the video call to the victim's mister

00:51if he won't give him money.

00:54Until the suspect asked for P200 or P300.

00:59That's when the blackmail started.

01:01He even sent it to the victim's family.

01:05That's why the victim decided to report.

01:08The suspect did not give his permission.

01:10We filed three cases here.

01:13This is Republic Act 9262 or our VAUCY law.

01:18Republic Act 9995 or Anti-Photo and Video Burearism Act of 2009.

01:26Article 294 or Robbery with Intimidation of Person of the Revised Penal Code.

01:33Authorities always remind people to be careful

01:35and not to trust new people.

01:38In the last case of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group,

01:42sex torture is the most cases that were filed against them.

01:46That's 198 cases from January to June this year.

01:50Higher than 181 in the same month of the same year.

01:55In investigating tech scams and other online financial fraud,

02:00the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center or CICC is alarmed.

02:06Unregistered SIM cards are used in fraud

02:11contrary to the SIM card registration law

02:14where the registration of old SIM cards was given until July 2023

02:20so that it will not be deactivated in the same month.

02:23The complaint of CICC's acceptance in the first four months of the year

02:29compared to almost P2,000 for the whole of 2023 is in shambles.

02:33It is increasing in an alarming state.

02:35Chances are it might be a syndicated operation.

02:38Looks like a call center.

02:40There are people talking.

02:42A lot of people are talking.

02:44It might be an organized crime.

02:46Many of these people are from Smart Communications

02:50who submitted a report.

02:51The National Telecommunications Commission,

02:55the regulator of telcos, refused to give a statement.

02:57Smart said that they are trying to stop their efforts

03:01against scammers and those who use registered SIM cards in fraud.

03:06From January to May of this year,

03:08their blacklist is now more than 600,000 SIM cards.

03:12They are also using new technology

03:16to verify the identity of those registering SIM cards.

03:20CICC also reached out to GCash

03:23after the company was reported to have been hacked.

03:27But when GCash verifies,

03:29there is no indication of a data breach in their system

03:32and their customers' accounts are safe.

03:35CICC thought that a hacker was just showing off

03:38but GCash's system was not hacked.
