SRC freezes salary review for all state officers after uproar

00:00as part of the third remuneration and benefits review cycle for state officers and other public officers
00:08that will be implemented over a two-year period, 2023-2024 financial year and 2024-2025 financial year.
00:20This review came after a two-year freeze on paystrackers for the period 2021-2022 financial year and 2022-2023 financial year
00:34on account of the impact of COVID-19 on the economy.
00:39The remaining two years would be implemented in two phases.
00:45The review cycle, which is an obligation pursuant to Section 11E of the SRC Act, covers the entire public service,
00:56both state officers and other public officers, within the context of affordability and fiscal sustainability
01:05and pursuant to Article 230 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
01:11In view of the emerging fiscal constraints and the proposed budget cuts and existing contractual commitments
01:20and in further consultation with stakeholders, including the National Treasury,
01:27SRC has reviewed the setting and advice of pay for the second phase of the implementation of 2024-2025 financial years.
01:38Therefore, in consultation with the National Treasury, SRC hereby freezes the upward review of salaries for all state officers
01:48and will review the advice for all other officers taking into account the current realities of the economy,
01:57taking into account any contractual commitments and reduced budget
02:02so as to ensure affordability and fiscal sustainability of the state.
