00:00of freedom, please welcome Alicia Keys, everybody.
00:05Thank you, how are you?
00:06I am so happy to see you.
00:08I'm really glad to be here as well.
00:10I love being home in New York.
00:11This is my home, so I'm excited to be home.
00:14The first time you heard Derek Jeter come up to bat
00:20and hear Empire State of Mind, what did you think?
00:22You know, I actually didn't know that he used it as his banning song
00:26like every game until we got a little closer to the World Series
00:30and then I understood that it was really him
00:32that really wanted me and Jay to come to the World Series to perform.
00:36So that was incredible.
00:37I felt, you know, really excited that that gave him the motivation to play.
00:40Because that song has become like the anthem.
00:44It is.
00:45The anthem, right?
00:46Thank you.
00:47Oh yeah.
00:48Thank you.
00:49Lots to talk to you about.
00:50Yes.
00:51Not the least of which is how are you feeling?
00:54I'm feeling wonderful, like I said.
00:56You look great.
00:57Thank you.
00:58Thank you.
00:59I feel phenomenal.
01:00I feel so blessed, so excited.
01:02And just to be home and to be, you know, just with my people, you know.
01:08I feel phenomenal.
01:10Phenomenal.
01:11We've been knowing you for a long time now.
01:14Yeah.
01:15And one of the things that I continue to be impressed with
01:18is the fact that you seem like you have really hung on to who you are.
01:22Thank you.
01:23In a business, right?
01:24Is that true?
01:26I mean, no, in a business like this, it's not easy, right?
01:29And what is that?
01:31What do you attribute that to?
01:33I definitely would attribute that to my mother.
01:36You know, she's an incredible inspiration for me.
01:38And she knows how to definitely, since I was a little girl,
01:41keep me right in my place.
01:43And so I think that's a really strong, just to be,
01:47just to know how you have to be empathetic towards others.
01:50You have to understand what's going on around you.
01:52It's important to not get so caught up in what's happening with you all the time.
01:55Like, look at what's happening in the world.
01:57Look what's happening to your neighbor.
01:59And I think that's really been a strong foundation for me.
02:02You could stay in here all day, but you know what?
02:03They don't want to hear me talk.
02:05They might want to hear you talk, but they really want to hear you sing.
02:07Thank you.
02:08What are you going to sing?
02:09Today I'm going to sing something that I've never sang before on TV.
02:13I heard that a lot of people have been out here since really early.
02:16And so for all the people that have been here,
02:19I want to do a song that just is one of my favorite songs off of the album.
02:23It's called Distance in Time.
02:24And I'll always be there with you.
02:26And I just want to sing something special that maybe you've never gotten a chance to see on TV.
02:30Alicia Keys.
02:32Thank you.
02:50You are always on my mind
02:53All I do is count the days
02:56Where are you now?
03:04And I will never let you down
03:07I will never go away
03:11I really wish that you would stay, but what can we do?
03:21All the days that you've been gone, I dream about you
03:28And I anticipate the day that you will come home
03:37No matter how far you are
03:42No matter how long it takes
03:45In distance and time
03:49I'll be waiting
03:53If you have to walk a million miles
03:57Or wait a million days to see you smile
04:02In distance and time
04:04I'll be waiting
04:14I'm telling you
04:16In distance and time
04:19I'll be waiting
04:23Will you take a train?
04:27Baby, where I am
04:30Are you on your way?
04:36I will never do anything to hurt you
04:41I'll never live without you
04:50I really wish that you would stay, but what can we do?
04:57All the days that you've been gone, I dream about you
05:04And I anticipate the day that you will come home
05:15No matter how far you are
05:18No matter how long it takes
05:21In distance and time
05:25I'll be waiting
05:30If you have to walk a million miles
05:33Or wait a million days to see you smile
05:37In distance and time
05:40I'll be waiting
05:44No matter how far you are
05:47No matter how long it takes
05:50In distance and time
05:54I'll be waiting
05:58And if you have to walk a million miles
06:02Or wait a million days to see you smile
06:05Through distance and time
06:08I'll be waiting
06:13Where is my love?
06:17Why do we skip all the days?
06:21Where are you now?
