00:00Gals, hi. It is lovely to see you. Just joined the conversation.
00:05Cute background.
00:07Got my little minion. Guys, this is one of my favourite franchises. I'm not even joking.
00:13I love these little pill-shaped creatures and everything to do with this film series.
00:21You are no stranger to this. You've been playing Margot since the very beginning.
00:25And I know voice acting over a long span of time is different to maybe acting in person like that.
00:33But did you do anything different with Margot after, what, 14 years since you first voiced her?
00:40I would say I have the easiest job ever because it's pretty much just my voice the way it is.
00:44And no, I haven't really done anything crazy.
00:47Sometimes I try to make my voice a little bit higher just because when I started I was 13 and now I'm 31.
00:51So it is a little bit different.
00:55Wow, that's so crazy. I started when you were 13 on this pickle of me.
01:00That's so insane that they've been going on for so long.
01:02But they're still as great as ever.
01:05I'm going to have a walker.
01:07Joey, did you have to dig deep to find the inner Poppy in yourself?
01:13How did you do the lisp? How did you figure out how to do it?
01:18So I went in and the director Chris was like, oh, thanks for being here.
01:24My first recording session he was like, yeah, like more or less just like, you know, we like love the way you sound.
01:29Just like kind of if you want to do your normal voice.
01:32And I was like, sure, but wouldn't it be fun if I didn't?
01:37And they were like, what did you have in mind?
01:39I was like, I don't really have, I have like three ideas.
01:42And like one of them was the lisp.
01:44And it was just like really funny.
01:46Yesterday, one of my lines that is like so funny that like I'm now obsessed with saying, I'm like, we got a baby to fave.
01:53So funny.
01:55Fave.
01:57I just like, she, Poppy has so much personality infused into her already.
02:01And I just, her, the way she was written was so cute and hilarious and villainous.
02:05And I thought it'd be really fun to add a very like sweet childlike element to her that like makes what she's saying even funnier and more lovable.
02:13The lisp definitely took me by surprise when that first popped up.
02:17It's a nice unexpected moment that makes you laugh.
02:23Do we think we're going to see more Poppy?
02:25Like this franchise, I feel is nowhere near ending.
02:28So I hope that there could be scope for more Poppy.
02:32As a fan, I hope it never ends.
02:34As an employee, I'd love to see more Poppy.
02:37I literally told Chris yesterday, I was like, I was like, unapologetically, please hire me again.
02:42I really want to come back.
02:44So I don't know.
02:45I asked this to Will, Steve and Kristen.
02:50And I got a very interesting answer.
02:51I'm going to get your answer before I tell you theirs.
02:54If you were to have your own army of helpers, like Maxime has cockroaches and Gru has minions, what would you choose as your helpers?
03:06I don't know why a sloth popped in my mind.
03:07That would be the worst helper on the planet Earth.
03:10It would be very slow.
03:12I would probably go with, it's kind of boring, but I would go with cats.
03:16I feel like because they're evil, they're fast moving.
03:19They're a step ahead at all times.
03:22Yeah.
03:23No, that's smart.
03:24That's really smart.
03:25Yeah.
03:26The reason I asked you to go first because I had no idea what I was going to say.
03:30My answer is we're not going to.
03:32The thing that popped in my mind the first was, do you know what leafcutter ants are?
03:36Oh, yes.
03:37Yeah, I do.
03:38There's these ants that have a very specific job of carrying leaves on their head to bring back to the colony.
03:44And I can't remember exactly why, but there's a weird thing with the queen and how they mate.
03:50But regardless of that, I do think they're extremely efficient creatures.
03:54And they're the first thing that popped in my mind because visually, they're just so good at their job.
04:00And the minions, I love them, but they're really bad at their jobs.
04:03So I need some structure.
04:06There's good thought behind that because ants are the helpers.
04:09And cats are really good at, well, they're also really good at not doing what you want them to do.
04:14I was going to say, they don't really listen to anyone ever.
04:17She's got an inner villain because you just said that they're good at being evil.
04:20So clearly, you just want to be evil yourself.
04:23Yeah.
04:24Let's dive into that real quick.
04:28It's like choosing a favorite child, I would imagine.
04:31But do you have a favorite minion?
04:32Because mine is obviously Stuart.
04:34I bought him many years ago, and he lives in my house with me.
04:38Kevin.
04:40I get them mixed up, but I think Kevin is the skinny one with two eyes that turns into the stretchy guy.
04:46I think that's Kevin. I could be wrong.
04:48Who's the boxy one?
04:49Is that Bob?
04:51I don't know. I'm making up names at this point.
04:53Dave, maybe?
04:54I don't know.
04:56I don't know. I'm not so great at differentiating, but they make me laugh so hard.
05:03It's amazing. I love the minions so much.
05:08They are great, but they are always getting up to mischief.
05:10And I'm curious, out of the two of you, who's most likely to get into mischief with the minions?
05:15We don't know each other that well.
05:17But from what I've experienced, you're a little freaky.
05:24I think it would be me, too.
05:26I think it would be Miranda. I don't know.
05:28I feel like I'm more of a rule follower than I let on.
05:31I was going to say, because I know you guys haven't worked together before.
05:35This is obviously voice acting, so you're not getting to spend that time together.
05:40If you guys could do a project together, what would you love to work on?
05:45Maybe we could play villains together, since we were talking about I would love to be a villain.
05:49On the same team or against each other?
05:51I think on the same team.
05:52I like that idea.
05:53And obviously there's the talent show aspect of this, which is the reason why Maxime and Gru fell out in the first place.
05:59I love these questions.
06:01I'm just trying to draw them.
06:02They're so well thought out. I just love how well thought out they are.
06:05Thanks. Miranda, we obviously know you can sing anyway, but have you got any other hidden talents that you would have showcased as your talent?
06:14I can shake my eyes. I have an extra eye muscle.
06:16Oh my god, so quickly she can do it, too.
06:21She said it and she did it.
06:22I haven't done it in a long time, in years.
06:24It looks like her eyes are having an earthquake.
06:26You can't see it, but it was great.
06:28I couldn't see it.
06:29Take my word for it.
06:30I was looking like this. I was like, can I see it?
06:34Her eye, like the irises, is that what they're called? They were like...
06:38Joey, anything as weird or as fun?
06:42Oh, now it's my turn, huh?
06:44I know, I'm sorry. I keep coming to you again.
06:47I used to be able to do yo-yo tricks.
06:51Yeah, I used to do the thing where I would make all these things and I would spin it around.
06:58I used to have a yo-yo phase.
07:01I don't know if that surprises anyone when you look at me or hear me speak, but it's true.
07:07You could do it to me, too.
07:11I would watch it.
07:12Thank you. It was actually pretty sweet.
07:14I don't think I can do it anymore. I haven't practiced.
07:17I probably could do the simplest, like the Eiffel Tower. That one's the easiest one.
07:21Listen, I'm rubbish at any of that. I don't know what my talent would be.
07:24I've tried singing and I couldn't do that, and I've done the dancing thing.
07:28A lot of people are into cross-stitching, and that seems really fun.
07:32My sister just got into that. She's great at it.
07:35I can do cross-stitch. I don't know how much fun it is to watch, but I can do that.
07:39Well, see, there you go. That's a talent for sure.
07:42Thanks. I'm really glad that I came here and you helped me find my talent.
07:48Listen, like I said, I love this franchise. You were a great addition to it as well, Joey.
07:53Miranda, Joey, lovely to chat to both of you.
07:55Thank you.
07:56Bless you.
07:57Thank you.
07:58Bye.
07:59Take care, guys.
08:00Thank you so much. It was nice to meet you.
