00:00The President appointed a new Education Secretary, Senator Sonny Angara, in exchange for Vice President Sara Duterte,
00:09some of whom are his allies in the impeachment of Ivan Mayrina.
00:17Senator Juan Edgardo Sonny Angara is the real ally of the Department of Education
00:22when Vice President Sara Duterte was appointed as the Deputy Secretary on July 19.
00:26The President himself announced that in a Cabinet meeting earlier this morning,
00:30where he said that Senator Sonny Angara has already accepted the appointment.
00:32In an expression of his gratitude to the President for the trust and confidence he gave to him
00:37to lead the government, which he called an important responsibility.
00:41He will help all sectors of society and the outgoing Secretary Sara Duterte
00:46to ensure that every Filipino child will be given a decent education.
00:50It is impossible to refuse.
00:52In an interview yesterday, Angara said that he will not refuse.

01:45where he is now the Chairman of the Justice and Human Rights, Finance, and Youth Committee.
01:49Among the laws he signed or co-authored are the Enhanced Basic Education Act,
01:55which is part of the K-12 program,
01:57the Universal Access to Tertiary Education Act or the Free College Law,
02:01and the Teaching Supplies Act and the Anti-Bullying Act.
02:06According to the President himself, it was hard for him to choose the Department of Education
02:10because its role is very important and there are a lot of reforms that need to be implemented
02:14to improve the quality of education in the country.
