Taiwan Launches 'Carbon Credit' Projects

Taiwan has launched a pair of carbon credits intiatives: a mangrove restoration
project in Myanmar and an afforestation project in Paraguay. The Paraguay
project is the first 'green carbon' listing on Taiwan's carbon credit trading
system, which will allow polluting companies to purchase offsets for their
emissions.

00:22It's been held in Taiwan as a viable path towards the country's goal of reaching net
00:26zero emissions by 2050, but offsets are widely criticized for allowing companies to pay
00:31to continue polluting.
