00:07Knowing what to do when Mother Nature disrupts your travel plans can help keep your trip on track.
00:12Well, I think there's so many things that can impact your trip related to the weather,
00:16not just actually once you're on vacation, but even getting there.
00:20Before you leave for the airport, use the AccuWeather app and check the forecast for where you are,
00:25where you're traveling to, and where you may be stopping in between.
00:29If you can find out where your plane is coming in from, check the weather there, too.
00:33So if you're sitting in Chicago and you're trying to fly to Florida and everything looks clear in both of those areas,
00:38but the plane is coming in from the New York area and they're under a ground stop,
00:42sometimes you can actually see where your plane is coming from, identify that your flight will ultimately get delayed,
00:48potentially switch, and still get to your destination.
00:51It's also helpful to have a way to receive alerts from your airline,
00:55so you can be one of the first to know of any changes.
00:58And ideally, you want to be as quick as possible at trying to get reaccommodated on a different flight.
01:04Demand is really up for travel this summer, so flights are going to be full.
01:08It may be challenging to get rebooked, especially if you're traveling with a large group or a large family.
01:13There will be times your flight will be delayed or canceled after you get to the airport.
01:18Packing essentials in your carry-on can help if your travel plans change.
01:22Even if you are going to check a bag, definitely still bring a carry-on
01:26with a change of clothes for everyone you're traveling with and all of your essentials,
01:29so that if there is a delay, maybe you do are able to switch to a different flight,
01:33your bags don't get there immediately, you at least have some clothes that you'll be able to get through.
