00:00A doubleheader of action tonight in the WNBA.
00:09Only two games in both start at 10 p.m. Eastern time as they are out on the West Coast.
00:15Oh, no.
00:17Go ahead.
00:18Yeah.
00:19Right side.
00:20Yeah.
00:21Yours.
00:22Now, hold on that.
00:23Now, hold on.
00:24Like, I mean, it really slipped by us here when I was getting to read about what was
00:25taking place in soccer.
00:27Both games at nine o'clock.
00:29Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but we're not playing this like the Copa America in
00:33like Argentina, Brazil, where you're trying to somewhat cater to their time zone or whatever
00:37they want.
00:38Like the USA is hosting this in Team USA is playing at nine o'clock.
00:42Like I don't understand that.
00:43And then you just told me we're taking a look at two WNBA games where we have three major
00:47league baseball games where you can put those games on at seven o'clock or earlier.
00:52And by the way, 10 o'clock and 10 o'clock, like a lot of people will be watching soccer
00:56here.
00:58You can't put everything to yourself at seven o'clock.
01:00What are we doing here?
01:01But I've seen WNBA games at one o'clock in the afternoon.
01:04You can't put one of those games at 7 p.m. on national TV and people like, wow, I really
01:09like to watch this.
01:10This is quite fun.
01:11Instead, you bury him at 10 o'clock and then you bury soccer at nine o'clock.
01:14Do we honestly hate ratings?
01:17I guess the lower the ratings, the more money you make is the way to do it now these days.
01:22It is 7 p.m. Pacific, right?
01:24Local time.
01:26And in Seattle, pretty sure the Mercury in Phoenix right now with daylight savings is
01:32three hours behind in the eastern time zone at this moment.
01:37Could you have started those games earlier in their local time zones?
01:41Maybe so to get a better WNBA viewership draw in what has been a historic first month and
01:46a half or so of this WNBA season.
01:50I digress.
01:51I'm not the commissioner.
01:52Neither is Donny right side.
01:55So we start with a game between the Sun and the Mercury out in Phoenix yesterday.
02:00The Mercury at home is a seven and a half point favorite against the Fever lose by six.
02:06Phoenix still playing pretty good basketball, though, as of late, especially with the return
02:10of Brittany Griner.
02:12It's just a three point spread in favor of the Sun on the road tonight in one of my favorite
02:17areas to always look for a Connecticut game, 158 and a half, a low total with the best
02:23defensive team in the sport.
02:25Yeah, by the way, nothing sort of sensation here.
02:27Brittany Griner since coming back here from being injured.
02:30I mean, you take a look at the points per game per season, right around 20 points, rebounds
02:33per game, seven assists per game to she's been really good.
02:36But also you're sort of jockeying for position as you go along.
02:40What is it?
02:41Twelve teams in the WNBA?
02:42Eight teams make the playoff.
02:43So you lose to the Mercury at nine and nine.
02:44If the season ended today, they would be in.
02:46And certainly I do think they're getting better, even though taking a loss yesterday there
02:50to the fever certainly doesn't help out the kind.
02:53But we'll see what happens tonight.
02:54And the analysis for me, very upsetting because it's a 10 o'clock game.
02:57So I can't have analysis on this, Ben, and then figure I'm going to be able to watch
03:01it through and see how it turns out.
03:02Tough scene.
03:03Yeah.
03:04Listen, I'm sorry for you as well.
03:07Connecticut one of three teams in the WNBA to have at least 14 wins the Liberty 16 and
03:12three Connecticut 14 and for the Minnesota Lynx 14 and four in the regular season record
03:18Indiana yesterday with the victory over Phoenix and completed its 20th game of the year.
03:23The fever now in the eight spot at eight and twelve, of course, eight teams make it to
03:28the WNBA postseason out of this 12 team league.
03:32So we're almost at the halfway point.
03:34We're just about two weeks away from the Olympic break this summer as they will go play for
03:39their respective countries over in Paris.
03:42So this is an important time in this WNBA regular season.
03:47I like to look for Connecticut tonight back-to-back for Phoenix.
03:50I would expect the game to stay under and also yesterday, not the best for one of the
03:54best scores in the W and for Phoenix Khalia copper for the Mercury only seven points yesterday
04:02her points prop today 19 and a half the oddsmakers expecting a bounce back.
04:07So do I so the other game of the doubleheader out in the Northwest the Seattle Storm and
04:13eleven and a half point favorite against the Dallas Wings.
04:17For most of the year DRS, we looked at the Washington Mystics as the WNBA's worst team.
04:22They were 0 and 12 to start the year.
04:24They're still not great, but they've won for their last seven now 4 and 14.
04:29There are three teams in the W with just four wins the sticks as we just shared the LA Sports
04:35without Cameron Brink things have been a tough go to begin this season and the Dallas Wings
04:40at 4 and 14 as well and Dallas has dropped nine of its last 10.
04:45That's why we see the double-digit spread in favor unfavorable, excuse me of the storm
04:49tonight in Seattle.
04:50Yeah, certainly leaking oil.
04:52No doubt about it.
04:53And yes, a heavy favorite on the edge of that.
04:55And also you're taking a look at parody in the WNBA.
04:57There is a bit of it there.
04:58But still if you're going to be pulling up the rear with four wins in the WNBA, you're
05:02not going to make it into the top eight here.
05:04And certainly you're taking a look at a game against the storm tonight with a favorite
05:07close to I mean, who knows by the time game time, it's a 10 o'clock approaching maybe
05:11two touchdowns here should be an easy victory for the storm tonight.
05:14And four and 15, not a great look here for the wings.
05:17Yeah, not at all.
05:20A rick a goomba Wally is there for Dallas always keep an eye on her three-point props
05:25on her points props.
05:26She was through the first 15 games or so this WNBA season, the league's leading score now
05:32that is Asia Wilson last year, the league's leading scorer drew Lloyd for Seattle starts
05:37to look to billing as of late 34 and 30 and back-to-back games for Seattle.
05:42The storm have won three in a row Seattle now this year 12 and 6 Donnie when we looked
05:48at the early offseason odds entering the WNBA campaign on opening night, it was still the
05:54battle of the two the two teams that faced off last year in that WNBA Finals series.
05:59That would be the aces who won back-to-back titles and the New York Liberty one and two
06:04short in comparison to everybody else.
06:07Seattle was the team with the third best price to win the WNBA championship and they got
06:12off to a slow start this year at one in three from that point.
06:17They've got 11 and three they are playing really good basketball.
06:21They are one of five teams in the WNBA with double-digit wins in the fourth best record
06:27and despite having the fifth best price now at ten to one still expected to be a contender.
06:33It is why Seattle is a double-digit favorite tonight.
06:36Yeah, and absolutely there and you can take a look at those odds as they're shaping up.
06:40But you say the top six teams I include the six because I do think the Phoenix Mercury
06:44here at nine and nine much better than what the record says they are because they do have
06:47some superstar talent to play with to take a look at the aces the storm the links the
06:51Sun and the Liberty certainly those upper echelon teams.
06:54And also if you're looking for fun, if the season ended today, you do have the Indiana
06:59fever in but wouldn't it be nice if somehow the Chicago Sky can also sneak into the playoffs,
07:03but then again, they only have six wins.
07:05So do I have to jump the eight-win fever the seven-win dream to try to make that happen?
07:09I don't know if they will but it looks like the way things are shaping up.
07:12We probably will get at least one of those teams been being the dream or she's being
07:16the fever and the sky that are going to make the playoffs here.
07:19So at least we get one of those true young superstar talents here at that rookie level.
07:24And listen, Indiana has really found their footing already 20 games into this year.
07:29Of course, it was the 11 game and 20 day stretch run.
07:32That was a sprint to start off this WNBA season.
07:36Indiana was two and nine often placed in marquee matchups against the Sun the Liberty
07:41the aces to begin to put Caitlin Clark on that national stage and it was a struggle
07:47from that point including the upset yesterday in Phoenix, Indiana has won six of its last
07:53nine games in currently with that 8 and 12 record eighth best in the WNBA and minus 215
08:00to make the WNBA playoffs and there was always going to be the look at the rookie of the
08:04year odds.
08:05The number has shortened on Caitlin Clark, but it's still in heavy minus money at minus
08:11600.
08:12I don't think we need to directly compare at all points.
08:15We can celebrate both who have had incredibly successful and historic WNBA rookie years
08:21that being Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, but you still look at Caitlin as that hefty
08:26odds on favorite to win rookie of the year something drastic would have to happen in
08:31her performance in this year in Indiana's Outlook for Clark not to win the rookie of
08:36the year award and the interesting part about it too is again, it's sometimes the betting
08:40markets are going to fluctuate just based on the amount of money that's being placed.
08:44Let's just say at the beginning of the season on Caitlin Clark because you're not saying
08:47to yourself.
08:48Well, yeah, Caitlin Clark's putting up numbers and some historic things Angel Reese is doing
08:51the exact same thing in the double doubles market here.
08:53So it's not as if it's like a charity case where she all plus four to one.
08:57She's interesting.
08:58We'll just keep her up there.
08:59She's doing extremely well here for the Chicago Sky, but also I always talk about Ben's extracurriculars.
09:04If you do have the Indiana Fever with a better record and make it into the playoffs here
09:08as a rookie guard here for Caitlin Clark for sure get that added bump on top of the Chicago
09:13Sky who have Angel Reese and maybe missing the playoffs, but each one of those, you know,
09:17it's deserving of a rookie of the war looking the more reward, but I think I give it to
09:21Caitlin Clark.
