00:00Hello, everyone. My name is Paul Branson, and I do many things. And I also have a pronunciation
00:07problem. So sometimes I can't pronounce the word that I want to pronounce. I also have
00:13ADHD. I'm very hyperactive and sometimes lack focus. But I try my very best to give you
00:20snack reviews, movie reviews, and all sorts of events I do. And it's always unscripted.
00:27I try my best to do it unscripted. I don't really want to edit it in any way. If I make
00:32mistakes like blah, blah, blah because I simply can't pronounce a word, I leave that in. The
00:38odd time I might edit something, but very, very unlikely. I don't think any of my shows
00:45really have any editing in it. But today, I am trying the Glenwood Beef Jerky. And it's
00:52a teriyaki flavor. Originally, I wanted the original one. I didn't really want this because
00:57I've never tried Glenwood before. I've never tried their beef jerky before. But I could
01:04only find the teriyaki one. And I saw this at Foodland. So I said, I've got to give it
01:09a try. I've tried all sorts of them. Normally Canadian. I don't think I've ever tried a
01:15U.S. one before. So, and this is from the shadows of the 90s Terrians Mountains. Glenwood
01:23Snacks, our family owned meat snacks company. Oh, it's family owned. See, I didn't even
01:28know that. I don't read this. I know what you know. So now this is family operated.
01:36I'm not sure how long it's been in business. I'd have to look it up and see what other
01:39flavors they got. I didn't even look it up online. Very little ingredients. And it says
01:44consume within three days. And every time you get beef jerky, you have to consume it
01:48within three days or you can get sick and maybe, who knows, maybe the occasional death.
01:54But they forewarn you. Don't eat it past three days. So as soon as I open this, I know I
02:01have three days to eat it. It kind of takes away the joy from it too. Because sometimes
02:05it's the fourth day and I haven't really finished it yet. So it kind of annoys me on that aspect
02:11that it can only last three days. It doesn't say you can freeze it, so I assume you can't
02:16do that. But now I'm going to tell you 90% calories here, 2% fat. Trans fat is zero.
02:26That's actually uncommon. And then, because I've never seen trans fat zero before. I've
02:31always seen, I'm more than sure I have anyway, unless I'm getting my other snacks confused.
02:37Sugar, zero. Sugar, 10%. Protein, 10 grams. Cholesterol, 8. Sodium, 24%. Potassium, 3.
02:48Calcium, zero. And Iron, 3. And very little ingredients. It's basically beef filled with
02:53sugar, honey, pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, water, wheat, soy beans, vinegar,
03:02salt, onion powder, spice, more water, more cider, vinegar, salt, natural flavors, sodium,
03:10nitrates, smoke, contains soy and wheat. So now let's open this up. It opens up easily.
03:23Oh jeez, as soon as I opened it up, as soon as I took this seal off, I smelt it. It's
03:28actually a really strong smell and I haven't even opened up the Ziploc part yet. Wow, that
03:32was a strong smell. Ooh, that's strong. It's actually a nice, wait. No, it is a nice smell.
03:39And this is for moisture. They put this in here. Do not eat it. It's one of those things
03:43to keep the moisture out because they have to dehydrate it. They have to cut it very
03:48thin. And then it takes a while. First they have to, I think they cut it first. Actually,
03:54I can't remember now. I think they boil it, they cook it first and then they cut it really
03:58thin and then they take the water out. So to keep the moisture out, they have to leave
04:03this in. So I think I should leave it in. All right. Smells good.
04:24It's a different taste. It's definitely a different taste. It's a nice flavor, but it's
04:43not a strong teriyaki flavor. It's a very light flavor. It's not like super strong or
04:48anything. It is a bit tough, though, when I was chewing it. It's a nice teriyaki flavor.
04:55It's a nice teriyaki flavor. It's not overwhelming. That I like. It's nice and light. There's
05:17no aftertaste or bad aftertaste, I should say. It's a little, the first one was a little
05:24bit more chewy. So it doesn't really, it doesn't seem to melt in your mouth that I
05:34would like, but it also doesn't stick between my teeth that I like, too. I actually like
05:42this. It's a nice USA product and it's family operated. I like that. It has a nice smell
05:48to it. It's very light. I like it. I like it, actually. I like it quite a bit. Some
05:59pieces are a little tougher than others. This one's a tough piece, but the flavor is there.
06:09All right. Well, you know what? I give this a 7.5, but every time I review snacks or anything,
06:17I also go by how hard it is to chew, especially when it comes to beef jerky. This wasn't melting
06:24in your mouth beef jerky. It was good flavor with no aftertaste, so that's why I give it
06:30a 7.5 out of 10, but if it was softer to chew, I probably would have given it a higher mark,
06:37but it is a very nice flavor. It's light. It's not overwhelming, and I like the fact
06:44that it's family operated, and I can probably find out more information. It's St. Anthemin's
06:50USA, and there's the number there at the back of it, so there's information at the back
06:56there that you can call them. I'm sure they have a website where you can find all sorts
07:00of things, but I enjoy this, and thank you for watching, everyone. My name is Paul Branson,
07:07and if you see this at Foodland and you want to try different beef jerky companies, give
07:11this a shot. I enjoy it. A 7.5 out of 10 is a good mark for me. All right, everyone.
07:17Bye for now, and check out my other reviews and events and much more. Have a wonderful
07:21day, everyone.
