Residents of the southern Chilean city of Porvenir admired the frozen waters of the Pacific Ocean on Friday (June 28), with sights they say used to be common decades ago but not in recent years.
Drone footage revealed frozen waves extending several meters alongside the snow-covered city, located in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic region.
Even though cold temperatures are expected at the beginning of winter, this year the Chilean Meteorological Agency (DMC) reported that Punta Arenas experienced its lowest June temperatures since 1964.
