00:00Hi, I'm Liberty from NME, and we're at Glastonbury 2024 with...
00:09Hello, I'm Betta Dope.
00:11How are you finding it?
00:12Good.
00:13It's good.
00:14It's nice.
00:15It's perfect, because it's cool.
00:16It's not hot, really, and there's no mud.
00:20What a dream.
00:21So, we recently saw you release your first album since 2012.
00:25Have you found the response, and what's it been like to be together as a band again?
00:29It's been really cool.
00:31It's been really interesting, because when you...
00:34It's like riding a bicycle.
00:35So, when you make a record again, it's just exactly the same.
00:40It's funny, because then you answer the question of the people, like, what is it like?
00:43What's the response?
00:44I'm like, I don't know.
00:45It's the same, I guess.
00:46It's kind of the same, but I don't know.
00:48It's just been really fun.
00:50It's been really fun.
00:51Making the video was really fun.
00:52Doing all the artwork was really fun, because we got to work with our friend, Cody Crichlow,
00:56who's a genius.
00:57Not just a genius, he's so funny.
01:00That was really cool and fun.
01:02Now we're just here.
01:03So, it's kind of like, I think it's in this moment of being like, oh, wow, we're playing
01:10festivals still.
01:11Because I thought it was going to be maybe a solo album at first.
01:15Yeah, it was.
01:16How did it evolve?
01:17I was with Rick Rubin, and we were working together, and I was just like, I'm going to
01:22get Nathan to come out.
01:23Nathan came out, and he's playing.
01:26I was just like, I couldn't decide, should it be a solo record or a gossip record?
01:31Because Nathan was playing these beautiful things, and he was working really hard on
01:34the record, and it just didn't feel right to not have, you know, to give him his credit
01:40where it was due, and not to be a group project.
01:42And so, we just decided it would be a gossip record.
01:45Just like that.
01:46Things happen.
01:47There's so much more boring than you want them to be.
01:51You're like, I don't know.
01:54It's just like, that's it.
01:56It's simple.
